The North Carolina Aquarium is about 10 minutes away. A wonderful field trip for all ages. OWLS, the local wildlife sanctuary accepts visitors and donations! They care for waterfowl and other birds who are injured or ill. Their facility is handled by volunteers who are always available to give you a tour. Harker's Island is about a 30 minute drive. A drive well worth the time. Hop on the ferry for a short ride to the Cape Lookout National Seashore. Take a picnic lunch and explore this awesome location. Another 30 minutes on your jaunt will take you to Cedar Island where you can catch the ferry to Okacroke and the upper outer banks. A great activity if you want to explore the area. Head in the opposite direction and you will find Hammock Beach State Park and Bear Island. The island is reached by a small

  • What a wonderful vacation. The kids had a blast on the beach and were squealing with delight when the dolphins appeared three times in one day! We wouldn't think of staying any other place. Can't wait for this summer! Neither can the kids.
