We have just returned from our most recent stay at Shehawken House, one of a half dozen visits over the past several years. It is a well outfitted vacation home, accurately described in the listing, on a lovely small lake. Our grandkids have fond memories of their visits and want to return. Only caveat.....bring a good light if you enjoy reading.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We rented this cottage last minute for Easter weekend just to get out of the city and relax. Eric was extremely helpful in getting everything done last minute. The cottage is really unique, they did a great job decorating it and putting it all together with some great touches. We did a great hike on Bouchoux Trail and checked out Jensen Ledge, well worth the uphill trek. The only downside I could see was that some of the neighbors are close, but when we were there we did not see anyone else.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My wife and I are both in the creative fields. I manage the design and development of new products (ie. housewares, consumer electronics) and my wife is a practicing artist based in New York City. We have two kids who enjoy coming to the lake on weekends, holidays and summer. The lakehouse is a retreat for us all, and we couldn't live in the city without it.
Why the Owner Chose Shehawken Lake:
I'm an avid fly fisherman and have been coming to the area for many years. We spent about 2 years looking for the right house in the right location, and found this spot in the dead of winter, and immediately knew it was a gem. The broker said that if we liked it in the middle of a blizzard, we'd love it during the summer . . .
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This part of rural PA is special, because it's like time stops out here. Renters always ask us for a list of local attractions, but we find that almost all of the people who come to the lake barely leave the comforts of the house and lakefront. Come see for yourself.
