We had a great weekend get away here and would love to return. The location was perfect for us. We loved how close the Farmer's Market and Libbey Park was to the home and the one story floor plan was appreciated by all- especially my older dog who has difficulty with stairs. Everything was very clean and tidy and we were very comfortable.Recommended for: Pet owners, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Great 1 bedroom eclectically decorated in perfectly located spot in Ojai. This unit has everything you need for a great get-away while remaining easily walkable to anywhere. PROS: comfy bed, modern bath, cosy atmosphere, full kitchen, 2 patios, location, heating CONS: on 90+ days in summer the small a/c unit didn't really do the trick, & I missed having a TV since I was there a whole month! If you bring your own TV you can get a few channels by plugging it into the cable. I would also like WiFi since the plug-in Internet access is limiting. But these minor detriments aren't all that important since the place is charming and über- livable.Recommended for: Pet owners, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: I added another A/C unit to keep the apartment cooler in the bedroom during the hottest time of the year. I also added a wireless router so you don't have to use the ethernet cable to connect to the super fast broadband internet. The internet is so fast, it's no trouble streaming video and watching tv online. That's how I do it and don't have a television or pay for cable tv any more. Hope this info is helpful to any potential guests wondering about these comments. TY! Kim

This wonderful clean one bedroom cottage was just perfect for my husband and me and our cat. I love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped with private courtyards to enjoy our meals. We enjoyed the privacy, the quietness and closeness to town for shopping and hiking. The beach in Ventura is only a 15 minute drive away, so we enjoyed the best of both worlds. The owner was so accommodating and very knowledgeable about the whole area. We had a great time and many fond memories. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to our family and friends.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you, Cindy and Tom! So happy you enjoyed your stay in Ojai! You are always welcome here! ; ) kim

Definitely a nice place to stay to be near everything going on downtown. We stayed nearly three weeks and walked to the bike path just about every morning, and into the downtown area practically every day. Proximity to downtown was my favorite feature, but there are several others worth mentioning. The home is small but comfortable for two and was very clean. I really appreciated all of the little things, like the juicer and having things like a bottle opener or a particular utensil we needed for cooking. The sheets are very soft(!) and there were plenty of towels and linens. We also enjoyed the front patio area. The back was our dog's "rest room" so we didn't spend as much time out there, lol. The neighbors in back are very friendly and there weren't any loud or annoying neighbors. Overall it worked very well for us, and for our dog as well. One thing that would have been even more perfect for me is if I could have kept the privacy while adding some windows. There are three french doors with beautiful glass that let light in, but you can't see through them, and there are only three windows, none of which have a real viewing area. I love to look out at the mountains around Ojai and I missed the having ability to do that from inside, but for everything else you get it's still a great place to stay. If you go, be sure to read the book on all of the hikes in the area, and DO SOME. Ojai is just packed with amazing things to do, both in town and out. This property is located well for all of it.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We had the pleasure of staying at this well-furnished “Zen meets mid-century” VRBO from Thanksgiving until late March. My husband, who works from “home”, took advantage of the executive desk, credenza, and comfortable office chair nestled in the spacious common area. While advertised as a one-bedroom, this VRBO is quite commodious featuring an open floor plan. The common area includes a fully equipped kitchen with ample storage space, a dining area, home office and living room. The bedroom is roomy as is the bathroom. This VRBO is tastefully furnished and artwork adorns the walls. Also included are two fully enclosed outdoor spaces. The outdoor space is a perfect setting for yoga and contemplation. Weather permitting, we would dine outdoors at the bistro table and experience the “pink moment”. For the readers who are not familiar with this terminology, the “pink moment” results from the reflection of the setting sun on the bluffs of the Topa Topa Mountains that run in an east-west west. Most mountain ranges on the west coast run north-south. This VRBO is located within one block of Ojai’s historic downtown. We were able to walk to the Spanish colonial arcade and enjoy the shops, art galleries, restaurants, and Libbey Park. On Sundays we would walk to the farmers market. One might conjecture that the VRBO would be noisy because of its prime location; however the apartment is extremely quiet. So it has the best of both worlds; one can experience the vibrancy of Ojai’s downtown yet enter into solitude after crossing the threshold. The property owner was generous in sharing the bounty produced by this Mediterranean climate. She graced us with gifts of avocados and oranges that do not grow in the Seattle area where we live. And she is a long-time Ojai resident who would gladly share her wisdom about this lovely town. So if you have a weekend, a month, or a longer time-span for a vacation, consider this VRBO your place to stay in the Ojai Valley.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: So happy you two enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you two again soon! Thank you! Kim

This was my first time booking a vacation rental via VRBO, and I must say I can't believe I just discovered this site now! Not only was Kim a pleasure to work with, but she gave us tips on 'must-see' places in Ojai, which were truly amazing! The apartment is the perfect size for two or for a small family and I love that I was able to bring our dog. The apartment has just been re-modeled, is fresh and elegantly styled, and the kitchen allowed us to cook some of our meals at home. Everything happenin' in Ojai is literally within walking distance from this hidden treasure, and I cannot recommend this apartment more!! And the bed is so comfortable!! It was great visiting Ojai and this apartment made our stay even better!!! I will definitely be booking again with Kim!! Thank you!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your next visit later this year. :) Kim

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I am a retired psychologist that has been fortunate enough to live in this lovely town of Ojai for 22 years now. I have traveled extensively to 44 countries and backpacked around the world. For fun, I paint, write, hike the local trails, horseback ride, garden and love experimenting in the kitchen with gourmet recipes. I am an animal lover, share my life with my dog and live 5 minutes from the property. I love to share the beauty of Ojai with people visiting and believe it is one of the most unique and wonderful places on the planet.
Why the Owner Chose Ojai:
This property is part of a multi-family property in downtown Ojai on about a half an acre which I purchased a couple years ago and completely renovated. Many people have suggested I use some of the apartments as vacation rentals as the location is ideal and the unit is so lovely. Ojai has increasingly become a destination for travelers and there is a need for those of us that like to have a full kitchen and a sense of home rather than the typical hotels located in town. I have done my best to make both of the duplex apartments a perfect retreat and home away from home for you.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
It's a short walk to the Sunday Farmers Market, the wonderful Ojai restaurants (I will share my faves with you later), the theater, Libby Bowl, grocery stores, etc. There is a public golf course just a mile away and local hiking trails all very convenient to the apartment. As mentioned earlier, I have two working bicycles for you to use if you choose and have a Ojai Hiking Trails book on the desk should you choose to take one of the many picturesque hikes in our mountains. I also have a new boogie board in case you want to check out the Ventura Beaches. The hot springs and Lake Casitas are a short drive as well as the Ventura Beaches. Ojai is surrounded by Los Padres National Forest land and we also have Lake Casitas Recreation Area which has a fun water feature for kids and great fishing, boat rentals, etc.
