'Halcyon Days' is an incredible Oceanfront home with over 6550 heated square feet (7,500+ total) of stunning living space on North Forest Beach, Hilton Head Island. 8 Bedroom Suites, 8.5 baths, a library/den, an enormous greatroom, a Chef's gourmet kitchen, a private dining room and a private in-ground heated pool with a hot tub are some of the features of this luxurious home.
Halcyon Day's gourmet kitchen offers every feature a chef will enjoy including a Thermadore 4-burner plus griddle gas stove with a Thermadore multi speed hi tech hood. The electric oven is both convection and conventional, there is a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a double door refrigerator and two sinks with disposals. Granite counter tops and a travertine tiled wall complete this space. There are ocean views from every workspace.
Gathering areas in the home include a huge great room, a 23 foot wide bay window with three huge armchairs with ottomans, a dining room, and a spacious kitchen bar counter with seating space for seven or more plus a third floor coffee bar/library/reading area. In addition the enormous rear bedroom on the 1st floor there is a 92" brilliant white Hi Def projection screen hooked up to a Hitachi HD Projector and HD cable box, with over 300 channels plus HBO and Showtime.
There are eight large, gloriously decorated, completely individual bedrooms. There are unobstructed ocean views from all three floors, plus from the garden and pool area. Most bedrooms have comfortable armchairs or sofas or both. The luxuriously expansive second floor oceanfront King Master Suite has a bay window with a three seat sofa and two large armchairs and offers 180 degree ocean views which are awesome. There is also a private oceanfront deck off this master suite.
The third floor King Master suite has a substantial four poster King bed, a 42 inch plasma flatscreen TV, plus a huge bathroom fit for a King and Queen. This bedroom has the best ocean views in the house from its semi circular oceanfront deck. On a clear day or evening you can see the vapor trails from rockets as they launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida as well as Tybee Island, Savannah GA.
The bedrooms, baths, hallways, and dining areas have gorgeous chandeliers or ceiling fans. The baseboards are tall and the crown molding and other various millwork is impressive. The third floor has an open library/den area with two beautiful chaise lounges and a coffee bar. On the first floor there is a butlers pantry with granite countertops, a large sink, an ice maker in a second refrigerator. Under the granite counters are a super size, super silent Bosch washer and Bosch dryer. There is a second washer and dryer on the second floor.
There are two elevators, one from the garage (ground floor) to first floor and another from the first floor (main living floor) to the second and third floors. For guests requiring Internet hookup there is "always on" wireless Internet hookup throughout the house. There is parking for 9+ cars.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We built Halcyon Days, completing it in June 2004, to compliment our 6 bedroom rental home, Yellowdog by the Sea. Both houses are on the same beach, on Hilton Head Island about three quarters of a mile apart.
Yellowdog was booked most weeks during the year, covering it's expenses and making a profit. In fact, we were turning away guests. In addition some of our guests families were growing and they needed more than 6 bedrooms. The need was there for a more substantial home and when the opportunity came we jumped at the chance.
Thus "Halcyon Days" was born and Rosie had a chance to put her magical spell on the home, creating a magnificient masterpiece, a dream rental estate home.
The 8 bedroom 8.5 bathroom configuration, with the over 7,500 sq. ft. size has been an incredible hit with larger families, multi generational families and executive groups and as result Halcyon Days is now rented for almost 40 weeks every year.
North Forest Beach on Hilton Head Island is the perfect location for an oceanfront beach home and for an oceanfront vacation.

My entire family,24 members, stayed at Halcyon Days and loved every minute. The location is perfect, could not be any better. The house is well maintained and all bedrooms were very spacious. The house was extremely well stocked with extras not found at other vacation homes. Andre and Rosie really went all out with extras. We contacted Andre twice during our stay and he answered promptly and took care of everything. We will be staying here again!!!!!

Our family vacation last week at Halcyon Days was wonderful. The house is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. There were 12 of us (9 adults and 3 children). We had more than enough room, with plenty of privacy. The house was immaculate when we arrived and everything was in excellent condition. Andre' worked with us on a special rate as we had rented Yellowdogs three years ago. We really lucked out on the weather and couldn't have asked for a better family vacation. We would recommend this property to anyone. We hope to return in the next couple of years.

We enthusiastically recommend Halcyon Days to anyone considering renting an oceanfront vacation house on Hilton Head Island. We used every room in the house - 6 couples, one single adult, two children and a baby. Everyone (well, except the baby) raved upon arrival, seeing the great room & huge windows overlooking the beautiful beach and ocean. Everyone continued to rave upon seeing the rest of the house - nothing but praise throughout our weeklong stay. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and a terrific kitchen/dining room/great room for gathering. It's a well thought out setup - a refined yet relaxed decor, a big basket of towels by the beach-side door, three refrigerators on the main floor, two washers and dryers, two (two!) elevators for easy unloading & loading, etc, etc, etc. André and Rosie were most helpful and a pleasure to work with. We would definitely stay at Halcyon Days again, and hopefully we'll do it soon. -- The D Family, Maryland

My family vacationed at Hilton head this summer (2010). Unfortunately, we had to move to a new beach house because the first home was very dirty and had significant mold growing on the walls in two separate bathrooms. Because of some initial difficulty with the rental company, I contacted Andre' to inquire about his properties. He was so kind and took us on a tour of both homes. They were absolutely stunning! The furniture and overall design satisfied every expectation for a beach-front property. AND THEY WERE BOTH VERY CLEAN! I want to make it clear that we did not stay in either home. We had to honor our contract with our rental company and stay in one of their rentals. But my wife and I are looking forward to renting from Andre' next year and would be excited to stay in either home. The photos represent the true appearance of both homes. Thank you again Andre' for the time you spent with us. It was nice to see someone care so much about their rentals and keep them so neat and clean.

Their rental company finally came through with alternate accommodation, but not before creating a pretty dismal impression of Hilton Head hospitality. This is a reminder to renters that talking with the owner of the home that you plan to rent is critical. You need to establish a rapport and find out if the owner lives on the Island and if they really care about you, your family and your vacation. I have been running a golf trip for my friends to Hilton Head for 15 years. I try to get a House on or near the Ocean so that we can do the Beach early in the morning and get pastries at Coligny Circle for Breakfast. Since this is an all Male trip, the House fits our needs perfectly with each having a bedroom a prvate bathroom for each. Views for the House and the master bedrooms are great. What a sight to wake up to each day. Elevators were great to get those heavy Clubs up to the 2nd & 3rd floors. We had a dinner party one night with another party of 8. Had plenty of room to do the cooking and entertaining as dusk approched. I would highly recommend this House and working and dealing with Andre' was a delight. Looking forward to next year already and maybe getting the House again.

Because you were making a reservation, with a relatively short lead time, you were able to negotiate a good rate for your group and we were able to fill a week, which might have stayed empty. When you had questions, you asked them clearly and we were able to respond right away. By the time you arrived on Hilton Head Island, Andre' felt as if he had known you for years. Something else that we appreciated was the condition in which you left our home, on the morning that you departed. We take a lot of pride in presenting our guests with an impeccable home, upon their arrival. As our cleaning crew have only from checkout at 10am until the new guests arrive at 5pm to get over 7,400 sq .ft. in perfect condition, the wonderful way in which you and your group left the house made their job a little easier. It is not often that al all male sporting group provides such a lovely surprise.
