Spacious, luxury family home with large private pool set in tranquil valley in the Var region of Provence. The villa is ideally located to tour the entire French and Italian Riviera being only ten minutes from the main autoroute. You are right in the middle of Provence and can explore from Aix and Marseille in the west to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monte Carlo and Italy to the east, all in a days trip, and then relax back in your spacious villa. To the north are dozens of charming medieval villages, whilst just 30 minutes’ drive to the south are the beautiful beaches and azure waters of the Mediterranean.
For children and teenagers who tire of more adult interests there are plenty of activities aimed at the younger generation, including the largest aqua park and theme park (excluding Disney) in France, both less than one hours drive away. Many of the beach resorts have playgrounds, skate parks, trampolines, mini motorbikes, go-carting and crazy golf. Adjacent to the property is one of the Frances's top equestrian centres with over 80 horses, a bonus for horse-lovers and those keen to improve their riding skills
There is some excellent dining in the area, including a world-class 2 star Michelin restaurant at the 12th century abbey of La Celle, an historic little village just 2km from our house. Many of the local vineyards offer tours of the wineries and tasting sessions. Local restaurants serve a ‘menu’ with two/three courses for about Euro 12.
Built in the 1970s in traditional Provencal style, the villa comprises:
Ground floor
* Huge open-plan living/dining area with terracotta tiled flooring throughout. Sitting room area has comfortable sofas, armchairs, open fireplace, 50 inch Sony LCD plasma screen TV, massive library of books, videos, DVDs & CDs. The villa has three satellite feeds and four TV’s that can receive both US, UK and continental TV.
* Sunny dining room opening out onto a large terrace partially shaded by a grand old pine tree: perfect for barbecues and al fresco dining. Gas heater provided for chillier evenings. The terrace is completely fenced in to allow small children (or dogs!) to run around safely.
* Extremely well-appointed kitchen: in addition to the electric hob, cooker, microwave, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher there is every appliance and utensil a keen chef might require.
* Utility room with additional fridge & freezer, two washing machines, tumble drier and pantry.
* Spacious entrance hall with fully equipped office (computer, printer, fax and broadband internet access included for those who can’t leave work behind).
* Beautiful marble-tiled wet room equipped with state-of-the-art shower arch.
* Separate WC with washbasin.
First floor
* Master bedroom with queen sized double iron bedstead, antique country-style closet and dresser, TV cabinet.
* Bedroom 2 has four-poster double bed and large closet.
* Bedroom 3 has an antique single iron bedstead, and a bunk bed with shelves and a closet.
* The above three bedrooms all have French doors that open onto a covered veranda running the width of the house. Here there is a hammock and comfortable wicker armchairs, a perfect place for an afternoon siesta or a quiet read. Outside steps down to the patio are gated for security
* Bedroom 4 also functions as an additional sitting room with a sofa that converts to a double bed, bookcases and TV cabinet. It has a balcony with views over vineyards and hills behind the house.
* Main bathroom with a whirlpool bath and spacious mirrored counter with two washbasins
* Separate shower room/WC
Grounds
Private 11 metre swimming pool in secure enclosure and protected by child-proof cover. Surrounded by flat lawn and wooden decking, it is perfect for sunbathing on our teak sun beds. Shade is also provided by a gazebo.
Near the pool, a tiled patio shaded by a vine trellis and mature apple trees
On-site parking for at least 6 cars
Unlike many rental properties with their neutral, impersonal decor and basic amenities, our house is stylishly furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary art, textiles and folk crafts collected by us over the years in Japan, South East Asia and many other countries we have lived and worked in.
Please note:
* A refundable minimum security deposit of 500 euros is required to secure a booking.
* Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and with an additional refundable deposit of 200 euros to cover for potential damages.
* Changeover dates are flexible so mid-week arrivals and departures are possible.
* Prices include normal use of electricity and water.
* We provide one complete set of bed linen, bath towels and beach/pool towels for each guest. Additional sets of linen can be provided for a small fee.
* Baby bed(s), high chairs and baby bath are also available upon request.
* Weekly maid service/end of stay cleaning is included but more frequent cleaning can be arranged at cost.
* If you require additional services such as catering, baby sitting, etc. we will do our best to arrange this for you.
• Three international airports are located within an hour’s drive: Toulon-Hyeres (45 mins), Marseille (50 mins) and Nice (60 mins), all serviced by all the major airlines, and budget airlines, such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Transavia and British Midland Airways
• All major hire car companies (Avis, Hertz, etc.) are located at the airports and cars can also be rented in Brignoles from Europcar and Hertz

- Our property manager Martine lives on site and provides a range of services to guests. If you require a meal upon arrival--ideal if you get there late in the day--she will prepare a simple but delicious home-cooked meal using fresh local produce and salad from our garden. She will also cater for you during your stay, bake fresh bread, prepare picnics or do the shopping for you. Martine will organize or help you arrange any activities you wish to do. And if your goal is to improve your French she will happily give conversation lessons to adults and children! She will even do the occasional child-minding or baby-sitting if the grown-ups want some 'me time.' Just let us know in advance if you require any additional services and Martine will take care of it. Prices available upon request.
