So Private and So Close to Everything
So Private and So Close to Everything
Great house and even greater view! It was nice to be away from crowd but still close enough to everything. Tucson is an easy city to learn the streets. The house was the cleanest we have ever stayed in as a rental and was great for pets. The only negative was the tiny (jetted) bathtub. We are not big people and it was just too small. Also, we both have very good cell phones and use AT&T and reception in the house was very bad. I would suggest a landline, because if an emergency had occurred we would have had a problem most of the time. Our check out a day early was only to travel on weekend days and avoid big city traffic. Thank you again and we really enjoyed our stay.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Manager response: We are installing a phone for emergencies; however, most phones do work in this location. If you find the tub too small, there is a wonderful shower over it with a circular curtain around it. Way cool!

Founded in 1692 by a Jesuit missionary, Father Eusebio Francisco Kino. It was then that he became the first non-Indian to visit the village of Wa:k, or “Bac,” as he wrote it, and it was he who bestowed the patronage of San Francisco Xavier on this large village of O’odham or, as he called the natives, “Sobaipuris.” The church and school continue to serve descendants of the O’odham for whom the mission was founded in 1692, and they remain a crucial hub in the spiritual, educational and social life of the community of Wa:k, the San Xavier District of the Tohono O’odham Nation....MoreCollapse

Year Purchased: 2010
About: We are both retired from Raytheon and live in Mountain Garden Estates on another street.
Why Gates Pass:
We bought this home because of its incredible location on the precipice of the bluff overlooking the West Valley and the City.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our property is situated in the beautiful Tucson Mountain Foothills. It looks down on an unobstructed view of the Tucson valley to the East and North framed by the majestic Catalina and Rincon Mountains, with mountain views to the South and West. Although onbly about 5 miles and 10 minutes from downtown Tucson, the University of Arizona, the Tucson Convention Center, and historic Tumacacori Hill, it gives one the feeling of being immersed in the desert. Many of the local attractions, such as the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, the International Wildlife Museum, and Old Tucson Studios are a short 15 minute drive over breath-taking Gates Pass. Since interstate 10 is only 7 minutes away, the drive north to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon or south to Tombstone and Bisbee are hassle-free.
