Things to Do:
Skiing:
Taos Ski Valley - Ernie Blake founded Taos Ski Valley in 1955. From a camper in the base area where they lived, the Blakes began to build what is now a world-class ski resort. Taos Ski Valley remains one of the few family owned and operated ski resorts in North America. To this day it is still run by the founders' children and grandchildren. Because of this long tradition of family, no other ski resort can make you feel as welcome.
Fly Fishing:
If you are in to Fly Fishing, Taos offers some of the best in the world. Taos Fly Shop offers some of the best equipment available at affordable prices. With thousands of flies available as well as fly tying materials, they're not only a great place to buy your flies, they also lead guided fly fishing tours!
River:
Go check out the Rio Grande River. There is a good water play spot where the Rio Hondo goes into the Rio Grande at the John Dunn Bridge. Take Hwy 522 to Arroyo Hondo, left on B-005 and follow down to the river, or ask us, or any local person.
Walking/Shopping:
Check the little shops in Arroyo Seco. Seco Pearl, Claire's Jewelry, Fidget, Francesca's, etc. are all great. There is good shopping in downtown Taos as well, check out the John Dunn Shops and Bent Street.
Rafting:
Go for a 1/2 day trip down the Rio Grande. Call Los Rios River Runners 800.544.1181
Rock Climbing:
Mountain Skills Rock Climbing Guides offers guided rock climbing trips to the best rock climbing destinations in Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as all over the world. Whether you are a first time beginner or a seasoned veteran, you will be led by their professional, friendly, and experienced staff through an enjoyable experience where you can relax and climb with confidence.
Biking:
Different trails from beginning to advanced. Ask at local bikes shops for trails and maps and rentals.
Hiking:
Tons of great hiking, from mellow to strenuous. We recommend the West Rim Trail by the Gorge Bridge and the Williams Lake Trail up in Taos Ski Valley (stop by the Bavarian for a beer on the deck on the way out). Other good hikes: Italianos and Yerba Buena on the way up to the Ski Valley, look for signs of trails on west side of Hwy 150.

The house was excellent, with spectacular views! We enjoyed the hot tub and did some grilling on the patio as well. The kitchen is well equipped, as well as the rest of the house. With such spectacular views, we never turned on the TV! Spent an afternoon rafting in the nearby racecourse in the rio grande river. Unfortunately it was a bit too windy to make a campfire just outside of the patio. Would recommend this house to others - affordable pricing and great location - just outside the bustle of downtown Taos.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+.

This is a beautiful property that was perfect for our family reunion. The house is well-equipped, and the thoughtful landscaping allows for fabulous views in every direction. The close proximity to the Taos Country Club was ideal for our golfers. The owners were very accommodating, and the next door neighbor was so helpful without being intrusive. Thank you, Tara & Jeff for making your house available & leaving us all with lasting memories! We hope to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at our home and greatly appreciate you taking the time out to give us feedback. The views from our house are one of the best in Taos. The way we are set up high and can see the city at night. Its such a great time of the year for golfing as well. I loved waking up to the site of the green and plush golf course every morning. Thank you for the review and we hope you come back!

Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We enjoy the great outdoors, world class skiing, hiking, mountain biking and motorcycling. We fell in love with Taos in the Winter of 2008. We came back the following year to find a home with one of the most magnificent views Taos has to offer. We chose our lot based on those incredible views and the secluded private location set on 2.5 acres of land. We had a dream to buy a home our family could enjoy over the generations with all the comforts of modern life, but ensuring everyone always felt welcomed and a place children and grandchildren could enjoy also.
Why the Owner Chose Taos:
Ease access to skiing, golf, mountain biking, hiking, motorcycling, rafting, and the arts show how incredible Taos is. Our home was chosen to relax, provide plenty of room for multiple families, and entertain and we look forward to your arrival
