Our condo is #401 in The Indies, and this beautiful 1550 square foot end unit has 3 bedrooms, each with its own private bath. There is a king bed in the large master suite, a queen bed in second bedroom, and a bunk bed with twin over double in third bedroom. The kitchen is large with granite counters, stainless appliances, and eating bar. There is also a separate formal dining table. This condo has everything you need for the perfect vacation. We have only a few reviews because we have just started to rent our condo on VRBO.
Renters must be at least 25 years old, or be married. No pets or smoking are allowed. We do require the purchase of a $49 property damage policy. We expect you to treat the unit as if it was your own, but this covers us if something unexpected happens.
There is a large wrap-around balcony with tables, chairs and lounge chairs with beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and Mobile Bay. Access the balcony from the den and the master suite.
This unit is bright and beachy with large windows and views of the Gulf or bay from each bedroom.
There is a large flat screen TV in the den and smaller flat screens in each bedroom. Each has a DVD player.
The Indies Condominiums are located in secluded Fort Morgan, but only a few minutes from the more 'touristy' Gulf Shores, should you want to join the mob. Our beach is private and beautiful and uncrowded and there are 2 miles of undeveloped beach in a wildlife preserve adjacent to us for those long sunrise or sunset walks in private, or for some of the best surf fishing anywhere.
The beautiful pool is a salt water pool and it has a large waterfall area with shallow water that the kids love, and a separate hot tub.
On the roof of the Indies is a very large community tanning and observation deck. This deck has comfortable lounge chairs, misting stations, a refrigerator to keep things cool. The views of the Gulf and Mobile Bay are spectacular from here.
Although you can't grill on our balcony there is a great grilling area with tables on the ground level.
There are 2 rooms full of exercise equipment, and a business center should you need it.
The Fort Morgan peninsula has three nationally recognized golf courses and the City of Gulf Shores has an excellent recreational facility with tennis, indoor pool, playground and park.
Fort Morgan is within walking distance by beach or road. This fort dates to pre-civil war times and has a nice museum. History buffs can spend days walking the grounds of the fort.
The Fort Morgan road has a nice bicycle lane if that is your preferable form of exercise.
There are trails in the adjacent wildlife preserve that are fun to explore and let you get in touch with nature.
If fishing is your thing there is a marina directly across the street on Mobile Bay, where you can schedule charter fishing either inshore for trout and redfish or offshore for snapper or big game fish. Or you can bring your own rod and surf fish in the Gulf for trout, redfish, pompano, bluefish, or mackerel, or fish off the marina pier for trout, redfish and flounder. At the marina you can rent boats and jet skis or schedlue some air time via para-sail.
The marina across the street has the best restaurant on the Fort Morgan peninsula, known as Tacky Jack's, which has both indoor and outdoor dining and has great seafood and a downstairs bar that normally has entertainment in the summer. There are several other good restaurant choices on the peninsula before you get to the crowds of Gulf Shores. Most people want to go at least once to the 'Hangout' in Gulf Shores and maybe to LuLu's which is owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister. For either of these places plan on going early and expect a long wait.
At the fort you can ride the ferry over to Dauphin Island where there is another fort and an aquarium and nice walking and biking trails across the island. Nationally famous Bellingraph Gardens is only a few minutes from Dauphin Island as are the fishing villages of Coden and Bayou La Batre where parts of the movie Forrest Gump were filmed.

About the owner: Owner lives in Gulfport, MS but has been coming to the Fort Morgan area for more than 40 years. We love the beauty and the limited seclusion that Fort Morgan offers. We have several boats and love to fish offshore and inshore.
Our children and grandchildren love it here and we expect our guests to have a ball but to treat our little piece of paradise as they would treat their own.
