This vacation was exactly what we needed! Waking up over looking the water was so peaceful and relaxing especially with the sun rising over the east bay out our bedroom window. We enjoyed every minute of playing on the beach. Our time spent there went way too fast but we hope to come back next year.

I kind of don't want to let anyone know just how nice this place was. The location was perfect, the cottage had just about everything we needed and the view was spectacular.

Owner response: Thank you for the wonderful words you had to say about the Porthouse! We appreciate it and hope you will think of our cottage for future travels.
Thanks, Carol, for opening your home to our family for a week of R&R on the bay. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to next summer.

Great place for family getaway
Great place for family getaway
This location is fantastic for folks looking for a quiet getaway. The owners are very helpful in answering questions and guiding you around. The property is very clean and well maintained. There is also a common sandy beach around 6 or so cottages away. Lots of other attractions within 45 minutes: Suttons Bay, Leland, Sleeping Bear Dunes etc

We stayed here several times with our family which consists of my husband and two daughters. The most recent time was for the Fourth of July. We had a fun-filled time. We swam in the water, collected rocks, walked along the shore skipping stones, and made a castle in the sand out of sticks and rocks. We had a cookout on the grill and ate on the deck looking at the water sparkle in the sun. In the evening, we went to Northport for the fireworks. Upon returning, we had a bonfire, where we made smores and talked. In the morning, we enjoyed drinking coffee on the glider and watching the boats in the water. It is such a peaceful place, an escape from reality. It is a place that truly reflects the beauty of Lake Michigan. We had company from Texas join us for one stay. Out of all the places we visited and things that we did while they were here, this was their favorite part. They want to come back and stay here again. They refer to it as The Lakehouse.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We enjoy the beachfront, swimming, finding new stones, sipping wine on the deck watching the boats go by. We also enjoy seeing the occasional deer that make their way to the water. The sound of the water is calming, with the gentle waves lapping on the shore. It's fun to go to Northport for other family outings.
