This charming cottage has been meticulously renovated and is ready to accomodate you and your family for a great Mackinaw vacation! Located one block from Wawatam Beach on Lake Michigan, it sits on a quiet wooded lot but is walking distance to town for shopping and dining. Located in beautiful Emmet County, you can walk to Sheplers Ferry and be on beautiful, historic Mackinac Island in less than 20 minutes for a day of shopping, touring the Fort or a great bike ride around the Island. There is no shortage of things to do in the Mackinaw area. Wildlife watching, hiking, biking, swimming, parasailling, boating, fishing - the list goes on and on. If you love star-gazing, you'll really enjoy the Headlands, located about 3 minutes from the cottage. It has recently been designated as one of only 10 DARK SKY PARKS in the USA! The night sky views are incomparable!
This 2 bedroom cottage comes completely furnished and includes all linens and towels. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a washer/dryer.

We (two adults and two teenagers) stayed here for a weekend, and it is very well located for spending a day on Mackinac Island. The cottage is adorable, and comfortable. Its nice to have use of the kayaks, but there isn't anywhere nearby to use them, nor is there any info in the cottage as to where to go with them. The beach is the most likely spot, but too far to carry them. Very minor issue, tho - we were there mostly to have room to spread out a bit, and spend a day on the Island, and this cottage was perfect for that!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

FYI, there is a place to put in just around the corner from the cottage and a public beach about 3 minutes away by car. It's a really great place to kayak in a nice protected bay. Van Huis 408 Rental Agreement 408 W Etherington, Mackinaw City, MI 49701 "Traveler" Property is located at 408 W Etherington, Mackinaw City, Michigan. "Check-in Date" • CHECK IN TIME is after 3pm (EST) • CHECK OUT TIME is by 10am (EST) • This is a NON-SMOKING cabin • Pets are not permitted in the cabin 1. TERMS OF USE. Guest is authorized to use the cabin for the term set forth below. Guest agrees to use the cabin solely as a private temporary dwelling for Guest and authorized persons only. Guest agrees to use the cabin in a careful, safe, and proper manner. Guest agrees not to carry on or conduct any business, trade, or occupation in the cabin. Guest agrees not to use or occupy the cabin for any unlawful, immoral, or improper purpose or purpose which may or will be detrimental to the reputation of the cabin or which causes annoyance to or disturbs the neighbors. 2. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT. This agreement includes a damage deposit of $200. The deposit is NOT applied to the rent; however it is fully refundable within 14 days of departure, provided the following provisions are met: • No damage is done to the cabin, its contents or grounds, beyond normal wear and tear • All debris and rubbish are properly bagged and placed in the trash container provided • All keys are returned to the original location and the cabin is locked and secured • There will be a $25 charge for lost keys • All charges incurred during the stay are paid prior to departure • No linens are lost or damaged • Dishes, pots, pans, etc. are washed, dried and properly stored 3. An advance payment equal to 50% of the total rental (including the damage deposit) is required to secure the booking. Please make payments in the form of check, money order or personal check payable to Mackinaw Getaways, Inc. The balance is due 30 days before your arrival. 4. CANCELLATIONS. A 60-day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than 60 days prior to arrival are subject to a 5% Cancellation Fee or $50, whichever is greater. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, or that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advanced payment. Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. 5. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS. Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in. 6. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY. The cabin sleeps 4 guests comfortably. An additional charge of $10 per person per night for guests in addition to four will be assessed. This property requires a 2-night minimum stay; 3 nights during peak and holiday seasons. 7. CLEANING FEE. A one-time cleaning fee is charged in addition to rental fees. 8. LINENS. Linens, bedding and bath towels are provided but they are not to be taken from the cottage. We recommend that you bring your own beach towels. 9. RATE CHANGES. Rates are subject to change annually. 10. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS. Any exception to the above policies must be approved in writing. 11. STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS. No refunds will be given for weather related problems. Roads are generally well maintained and we do not refund due to road conditions. 12. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. Improper disposal of diapers or feminine products may result in forfeiture of your security deposit. 13. LOSS OR DAMAGE. Guest agrees to indemnify the cabin owner and/or his agents and representatives from and against all liabilities, damages, and other expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, which may be imposed upon, incurred by, or asserted against cabin owner and/or his agents and representatives by reason of (a) any failure on the part of Guest to perform or comply with any covenant in this agreement; or (b) any injury to person or loss of or damage to property sustained or occurring on the premises on account of or based upon the act, omission, fault, negligence, or misconduct of any person whomsoever other than owner. Guest shall be liable to owner for any and all damages to buildings, fixtures, and grounds due to misuse and/or neglect or by failure to observe any of the provisions of this agreement.
