A bit about the village: All facilities/shops are within walking distance from Residenz Ambassador, so for those who prefer not to drive, it is not essential to have a car whilst in Leukerbad. Public transport gets you to Leukerbad with Swiss efficiency, by train and then connecting bus. The tourist information in the town has information on all walks and activities available and the bus station can book tickets for excursions out of Leukerbad, to local towns like Zermatt or as far away as Milan and Rome.
German is the main language in Leukerbad but English works well if you want it to. You can also use French and Italian, so don't let language be a barrier to experiencing this delightful little town - plenty of old, quiet Swiss charm (you can hear the cow bells tinkling from the balcony in the Summer months), soaring and dramatic snow capped mountains surround the village, and you can watch the tumbling waterfalls from both balconies in the apartment.
Shops and facilities: .Walking distance to the many restaurants and shops. The shops include: Migros supermarket, Pharmacy, Wine Shop, Bakery, Fromagerie with lots of local cheeses, Tourist Information, Banks, two Ski Hire and Outdoor Clothing Shops, Chemist. Beautician and Hairdressers, and Beauty and Wellness treatments at the Walliser Alpentherme, along with great medical facilities.

Summer and Winter Holidays in the Swiss Alps. Arrive easily by car or public transport from Geneva, Sion or Berne Airports. 1 hour to Zermatt, Saas Fee, Crans Montana and Brig. Travel on to Milan through the Simplon Tunnel. Over 50 kms of downhill skiing on the doorstep. Cross country skiing trails. Europe's largest thermal baths. Rhone Valley for some lovely Swiss Wines just 20 minutes drive down the hill. Walking and hiking. Swiss Alpine Biking Trails. Child-friendly activities include swimming, ice skating, minigolf, playground, tennis.
Other Activities: Thermal Baths. Fabulous bathing in the village - bubbling waters to soothe away stress, hot waters enable bathers to lie outside and enjoy the 360 degree views.
Golf: Golf is available in Leuk in the valley. An 18 hole course. There is also a great course at Crans Montana, about a 40 minute drive away.
The PGA European Tour - Crans-sur-Sierre, Crans Montana.
Ski: The main ski area is on the Torrent, and the Torrentbahn cable car is 400m from Residenz Ambassador. There are more than 50km pistes, some have seen World Cup Races. But if you are a beginner or early days skiier, don't let that put you off! There is another area for beginners, which is accessed by bus and the bus stop is just up from the apartment. Cross country skiing is on the Gemmi (bus or walk to the Gemmibahn) and trails are also created in the town just below the apartment.

About the owner: We both live in the UK but have always had one foot in Europe - and love Switzerland because it is so central - north to Germany, west to France and south to Italy. We love exploring different cultures. Tina is a relationship therapist and book blogger, and Tony runs his own company.
