Enjoy long-range spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains at “Point of View” in Banner Elk, NC. This elegant cabin is located near the very top of Beech Mountain, one mile away from Fred’s General Store, and two miles away from Beech ski resort. Beech Mountain is the highest town in the eastern United States at 5500 feet. The home is roughly 2800 square feet (with finished basement) and includes three bedrooms (King bed, King bed, 2 single beds, and a pull out Queen sized sleeper sofa in lower family room.) Many new furnishings have been added in 2013. Awaken to gorgeous mountain views and relax by the sizzling hot tub. Go hiking, skiing, zip lining, rafting, shopping, fishing, tubing, antiquing, and more. Then, cozy up by the gas fireplace, play a game of foosball, view the stars with the house telescope, play a tune on the old piano, or enjoy grilling a meal on the expansive deck. Point of View is secluded and private, yet close to town on a gated street. Without the privacy gate, the street would be a tourist haven as the views are breath taking all along the way. Grandfather Mountain, Boone, Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock, Sugar Mountain, and Linville Falls are close to the home/Banner Elk.
Point of View surrounds you with comfort on all three levels. The lower level has a family room that contains a queen pull out sleeper sofa, private level entrance, stairs to middle floor, and one full private bathroom. The main level has a large family room, dining area, kitchen, fireplace, bedroom (king), another bedroom (two singles) and one bath. The upstairs is the master loft (king) with a sitting area that overlooks the family room and mountain views. It has a large bathroom and separate small balcony/deck.
Point of View offers free wifi for guests as well as clean linens. Taxes are included in rental rates.
Sorry, no pets or smoking are allowed in Point of View.

Thank you Peggy for making our stay seamless. The views were just as beautiful as I remembered the first time I visited. We enjoyed the hot tub, hiking, leaf viewing, eating at the Banner Elk Cafe, relaxing by the fireplace and even getting some work done with your free wi-fi. I cannot imagine a better place on Beech mountain as yours has the full view of the area. The sunsets were amazing. No matter how many pictures I took of it, they didn't seem to do it justice. I look forward to coming to this home for many many years. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and for the time it must take you to handle the rentals. We can't thank you enough!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving 2012 and this is a really good house. It is in a private setting with fabulous views looking over the valley and mountains. There is plenty of room in the house and it has what you need for cooking. The deck is plenty large with a nice warm hot tub for use. There is also plenty of parking.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: I'm so glad that you had a good stay and found the house to be a good place to have your vacation. Come back again! Peggy

This home is much nicer than the VRBO pictures show - all the wood cabinets and walls give it a homey, rustic, cabin-type feel which we loved! The loft bedroom is so nice - not really very private because it is open down to the first floor, but the view from the loft just can't be beat - especially at night when all you see are the lights down below...beautiful! The home was very clean and there are plenty of linens available and the bathrooms were super nice! We loved the pull handle toilets - had to take pictures of them to send to friends!! There is even a bathroom scale and telephone in the master bathroom - we felt like we were at a resort! We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives and we hope to return for another stay in the future. The owner is very nice and if there are any problems - there is a number to call and help is on the way in just minutes! The kitchen is very well equipped, although you may want to bring containers for leftovers is you plan to cook a lot - we happened to bring our own, so we were fine. The home is so peaceful and quiet and you feel like you are all alone on the mountain top even though there are homes nearby. You won't go wrong booking this home for your stay in Banner Elk!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved everything about this place. From the rustic design, the functional kitchen, the quiet & amazing location, panoramic views, well-tuned piano, piping hot tub, luxurious bedrooms... the list goes on. We love this place, and we intend to return! They even sent us back the things we accidentally left there in a box. Peggy is great, and the caretakers are pleasant. Thanks again for an amazing vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

The views from this house are indeed spectacular, and the openness of the house allows for a view from all over the house. Waking up to that view in the loft was truly amazing! We were able to enjoy some meals on the deck, and the evenings there are particularly lovely!! The atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxing! The weather was also delightful! We have stayed on Beech Mountain many times, and this house is our favorite now! The property is clean and well-maintained, and the pictures and descriptions are accurate. The owner is helpful and a joy to work with! We stayed for 9 days and hope to return next summer for even longer! There is lots to do in the area for people of all ages and interests too. We had a wonderful time! It was like a little piece of heaven!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+.

We stayed at this lovely, cozy home over July 4th, 2012. It was absolutely perfect! If you are looking for a private, gorgeous home with the BEST views on Beech Mountain, this is the place! You could not ask for a better location. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find that the home was more beautiful than the pictures, by far! My husband and I traveled with his parents and our daughter and had plenty of room to spare. The gated community was quiet and inviting. The open floor plan was perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and romantic as well. We could hardly wait to book our next journey in the fall. There is no need in ever looking for another home, this one foots the bill in every aspect!Recommended for: People with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

My three teenage children and one friend each, my husband, and I all arrived for a week of "spring break" skiing at Beech Mountain. We loved this comfortable home and enjoyed some amazing skiing! The home is very spacious, and the first level "bedroom" turned into the game-room hang-out for the six teenagers. The house handled all of us very comfortably, and the best part for me was to rest my bad back in the hot tub in the evening with such a great view of all eastern North Carolina and Sugar Mountain. Hiked up and around Grandfather mountain on a non-ski day. Teenagers kept very busy; all found healthy and amazing entertainment between skiing, hiking, and "snowball sling-shot" off the "in-the-clouds" deck! Rustic feel suits us perfectly, beds very comfortable; place very clean, ALL kitchen supplies great, and NICE gas fireplace, so cozy. Sweet and roomy, romantic loft bedroom with gorgeous view makes me want to return alone with my husband with no kids next year... Noone can rent next Feb. when we return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I drove down from Massachusetts through the Virginia Appalachian Mtns. in March for a vacation. We wanted a nice place to stay in W. North Carolina in the mountains and found this wonderful gem. The town of Banner Elk is very cute with little shops, a small college, hiking and biking trails, and we even discovered zip lining! Our favorite restaurant was Zuzda with great tapas, but a little pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. The road up Beech Mountain is a little steep and tricky, as well as the driveway down to the covered parking spot, but once you're on the deck, your breath is taken away by the views. Our favorite part was sipping wine while sitting in the hot tub on the deck. The house is very open with a nice kitchen where we cooked most of our meals. We went shopping at Fred's, a little convenience store we discovered at the top of Beech Mtn. The house is clean, furniture is a little old fashioned, but the house has privacy from neighbors which is nice. We had easy and professional communication with the friendly owners. We also happen to be there while an art's festival was happening in the commons of Banner Elk; it was a lot of fun! We highly recommend this area and house to couples or families. We hope to make it back later this Fall!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: We have enjoyed the mountains as a quiet, relaxing retreat for many years of our marriage. This home was our favorite home that we stayed in for its gorgeous views and mile high tranquility. When we noticed it was listed for sale, we decided to purchase it. Now, we hope to share it with others and offer them the same great experiences.
Why the Owner Chose Beech Mountain:
We chose to purchase this home over the others mainly for the views and the gorgeous street. I am a sucker for a sunset and one of the first sunsets won hands down as being the prettiest I had ever seen. With the wooden interior walls and ceiling, we liked that it felt like a rustic mountain home. The cool summer was ideal for us. The open deck with the hot tub was a factor in our decision because I prefer to feel a little sunshine while I soak or even view the stars, which wouldn't work on a covered deck. The lot was not too steep. Some properties for sale had decks so far off of the ground that I would get afraid of heights when I looked over the rail. I liked the paved driveway. I liked the big wooden island in the kitchen and the rock floors. We enjoyed the privacy of the home with the established trees.... yet it was close to town. And, last but not least, we liked the area and people of Banner Elk. Now, I can't imagine being any where else when I think of going on a retreat. We love Point of View!
