Property description

***PLEASE NOTE: 2015
Construction on adjoining home on the property is completed and all remaining piles of construction materials have been moved away.***
This Cozy, three bedroom home is located on the North shore of Lindsley Lake, on the Cisco Chain of Lakes, on the U.P. Michigan / Wisconsin border. Our old growth forest, wooded hillside site, offers panoramic views of the lakes. (Both Lindsley and Fishhawk lake.) The clean and comfy home offers a dine-in kitchen, roomy living room that looks out at both the lakes and the woods and fire pit/picnic area. The master bedroom boasts a queen bed with a private half bath with a woods view, the next bedroom is twin bunks and a single, with a lake view, then a full bathroom, then the third bedroom offers a double/twin bunk with a lake view, sleeping eight comfortably. (Additional persons may be added, $25.00/person/week additional. Cots available.) The screen porch faces the lake and private dock. Lit at night with low voltage lighting, traversing the property and enjoying the grill & fire pit area is easy. Our yard is naturalized with plants and trees bringing in wildlife galore! There is room for multiple cars/trailers in drive, room for two boats at dock. Arrangements can be made for additional boat docking. Although you bring your own kitchen, bathing and swimming towels, the home comes complete with all bedding, (sheets, pillows, blankets.) Also, a row boat, (licensed for motor use, max 15hp.) We can offer additional numbers for kayak, jet ski, fishing boat or *pontoon rentals. (*Ask about our Private, Guided Pontoon Tours, offered by Wilderness Watch!) There is a fire pit, grill and recreation area for small children and pre-teens in the back yard and a larger swing lakeside. Located just outside the Sylvania Wilderness Area, we offer some of the best hiking in the area. Wildlife is plentiful at Wilderness Watch! Birders will LOVE Wilderness Watch, with multiple bird feeding stations located in front of the screen porch and all around the yard and the daily Hummingbird wars. Deer, minks, otters, beavers are visitors, along with our resident Great Blue Heron (who comes to feed at the bass hole, almost daily) and the Bald Eagles and Osprey who also come to check our fishing honey-hole. EXCELLENT FISHING, RIGHT OFF THE DOCK, WITH NO LEAD OR MERCURY CONTAMINATION! NO PREGNANCY WARNINGS!! A Michigan fishing license covers both sides of the Chain, as the Wisconsin lakes are border lakes! Eat all the perch, bluegills, crappy, small and large mouth bass, walleye, northern pike and musky you can catch! They're all there, just waiting for you! With 15 lakes, the Cisco Chain offers miles and miles of shoreline to view as you boat from lake to lake. A map of the Cisco Chain is provided for your safety and boating enjoyment. DON'T WAIT!!! Make your vacation plans NOW, to come see Wilderness Watch for yourself and get ready to recharge your mind, body and soul!!

***For those needing to stay in touch with the outside world, WiFi available, code required for access.***

ADDITIONAL PURE MICHIGAN INFORMATION: New fishing license needed.

Michigan has many lakes to enjoy as the weather gets warmer. As you get out on the water, remember that the state's new fishing license season began April 1. Whether you are looking for weekend fishing or plan to go all season there a few different licenses to choose from. For those who want a weekend trip there are 24 and 72 hour all-species licenses. There are also two different season long passes. There is a season long, all-species license. However, an additional (free) lake sturgeon tag is required of anglers who fish for lake sturgeon. The second is a season long restricted license. This license is good for all species except trout, salmon, lake sturgeon, lake herring, amphibians, reptiles or crustaceans.

No matter what license type you choose, don't forget to make your purchase. The Fisheries Division depends solely on the money they receive through fishing licenses and the federal excise tax dollars for fishing tackle. The dollars they receive from licenses fund a variety of activities, including fish management work on Michigan's waters, habitat rehabilitation and protection, fish stocking, information distribution, education and outreach efforts to anglers and the public and much more. Buying a fishing license can make a big difference to the future health of Michigan's prized freshwaters.

The DNR has made purchasing a license very simple, there are three different ways to do it!
1. Visit your local retailer or DNR Operations Service Center and make a purchase in person.
2. Use the E-License System to buy a license online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
3. Visit the Mobile Fish website on your smartphone to buy a 24-hour all-species fishing license. All you need is your driver's license number and a credit or debit card.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 1951

About the owner: We are *Laurie(Susmark) & Jo Cooney. *My family has owned Wilderness Watch since 1951, and after my mother died, I bought out my four siblings. My wonderful husband Jo came along shortly thereafter and together, we have worked to maintain and improve the property, while caring for the woods and its creatures. (Recently, we celebrated 25 years of personal ownership.) I spend about six months of the year in Michigan, while Jo works and travels back and forth from Illinois. During the off-season, I take care of marketing and our home, along with our two dogs, King Arthur and Lobo. We have one daughter, 27, who joins us at the cabin every summer, with her dog, (Lobo's sibling) Duncan. Before doing this, I was working for a Nursing Home and did Home Child Care. I love animals, kids, helping seniors and photography. I am on-site at Wilderness Watch, (we own 2 houses on 2 acres), should anything come up that should require my assistance. See our video home tour, via the link. ADDITIONAL HOME PHOTOS ON OUR WEB DOMAIN. Use link provided to view additional photos of the home .

Why the Owner Chose Watersmeet:
My parents first bought the property after my father traveled up for many years hunting and logging. Then they and my Grandparents purchased a second home to put on the property for my Grandparents to be snow-birds from Florida and they vacationed in Upper Michigan for many years. As a child, we spent every summer, from school out, to school back in session, at the cabin. I have spent my whole life exploring the Cisco Chain. Now that my parents and grandparents are all gone, we turned the larger three bedroom home into a rental, and kept the smaller one bedroom home for us to live in, while managing and maintaining the rental. Looking towards the future, my daughter looks forward to carrying on the family traditions we started so long ago. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and take care of Mother Earth!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Located at the middle of the Cisco Chain of 15 lakes, Wilderness Watch is on a medium sized lake, that has an average depth of forty to sixty feet. The spring fed lakes are crystal clear all the way through August, before the 'bloom' comes on for the winter. Excellent fishing and swimming, right from the dock! Having 'grown up' on the Cisco Chain, I can offer many insights into the sights and activities of the Chain, not to mention great fishing holes! I also offer the only Guided Pontoon Tours of the Cisco Chain, (where you can view the fourteen Great Bald Eagle nests) and I offer a discount to my renters. When you arrive, I have a packet of information, detailing all the things to see and do within a two hour radius of the home. I can offer tips on places to eat, things to see and the must-see waterfalls in the area to hike. There is a gambling Casino in Watersmeet. Lake Superior is also just a short drive away, offering a wonderful day trip location, to rock-hound or just marvel at its magnitude and beauty. No matter what your interests are, Wilderness Watch is at the heart of all the best the Western U.P., North-woods has to offer! Come let us show you what we've known for years... It's all PURE MICHIGAN!!
