The Shepherd's Cabin sets the standard in lakeside privacy. Surrounded by the sounds of nature, this two bedroom/loft log cabin with one bathroom provides a secluded getaway from the daily grind. It's the ideal place for you and your family to reconnect with nature. The cabin can sleep five comfortably with one queen, two twin beds and a queen platform bed in the small loft. Like all our cabins, this one is constructed by local craftsmen from solid pine logs in the traditional way. At the Shepherd's Cabin, the greatest amenities are peace and quiet. The heart of the home includes the living room, dining area, kitchen, with the bath off the hallway. The living room sports a beautiful woodstove, a large comfortable sofa and two matching oversized chairs and a book case of books to read at your quiet time here. You wouldn't want to stay anywhere else....
Welcome to Nevermore: Looking for the perfect Moosehead Lake vacation? Then look no further than Nevermore Cabins. We have just the right accommodations for your Moosehead Lake escape.Nevermore is located on the shores of the Burnt Jacket Peninsula, just 30 minutes by car from Greenville town (or, 15 minutes by boat or snowmobile, across the lake). Comprising 12 acres of woods, walks and shoreline, and hundreds of acres of adjoining back country, Nevermore was from the 1920’s onwards run as part of the Allagash youth camp, but had fallen into some disuse in latter years.
Having often hiked and snowshoed into the site, we fell in love with the place, and decided to buy it and upgrade it for our own and our visitors use. So we cleared a lot of fallen trees, installed car access, created little romantic walkways, docks, and occasional seating where the views are the most spectacular. We saved some of the old camps, refurbished them to the standard they would have been 50 years ago, and relocated them around a huge fire pit. We then built luxurious, traditional log cabins with all modern amenities and dotted them around the shoreline, each decorated individually, and each with spectacular views and complete privacy. Tree sculptures, swings and seesaws, and our ravens at the gate completed the work. All done by local craftsmen!
Today Nevermore is the newest, and, we believe, the most luxurious compound in the Greenville area. We hugely enjoy our summers, New England autumns, and winters on Nevermore, and we invite you to come and enjoy the beauty and mystery of Moosehead Lake and the Northwoods with us.
We are looking forward to meeting you on Nevermore! Welcome!

My husband and I stayed in this pristine, extremely cozy, and very well-appointed cabin for a long winter weekend. We really enjoyed being away from it all and totally secluded yet just 15 minutes from town by snowmobile. This cabin, and the others in the compound, are very well built. The owner also has taken considerable time on the details and decor of the home. It reminded us of some of the places we've seen in Colorado and Montana. The kitchen with Aga appliances and living area are both very comfortably sized. We enjoyed the cabin environment so much that we ate in every night. The view from the bedroom and living room are wonderful. I enjoyed cozying up in that corner chair in the picture above with a cup of coffee every morning and looking out at the lake. I am sure it is very beautiful here in the summer and fall as well. It was also neat to take a walk in the morning after a fresh snowfall and see the great variety of animal tracks that could be found all around the compound. We definitely will return next winter and also think this would be the perfect spot for a summer family getaway. With four small cottages to choose from, everyone could enjoy their own private space if you were to rent the entire compound. I also want to say that the real estate agency in charge of renting us the property (Higgins Real Estate), and those involved in the maintaining of the property, are extremely helpful. All were very accessible and more than happy to help us out with any questions we had - from the best snowmobiling routes, tips on dining, and more.Did you find this review helpful? If you are looking for true Maine beauty, rest, relaxation, peace and serenity, you will find it here. What a gem! From the 3,000 feet of water frontage, with paths in the woods along the shore, grand boulders jetting out of the waters, mountains that mesmerize as they change colors during the days and evenings, wonderful old cabins to explore complete with a huge firepit, swings and seasaw; to the gorgeous new log cabins that have been built with amazing craftsmanship, affection and attention to every detail, complete with lovely appliances, decor, linens and dishes. There is also a sturdy dock for boating, swimming or fishing and great outdoor spaces for biking and walking. You won't want to leave and can't wait to come back! We've traveled many places and this experience ranks right at the top. Greenville is also a charming village, if you can bear to leave this place, to venture into town. There are many things to see and do. And if you like wild life, we saw moose, deer, coyotes, fox, rabbits, ducks, loons, partridge, turkeys, squirrels and many species of birds, all in one week...wow!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have certainly enjoyed being we the first guests @ the Shepherd's cabin. We have been coming to Lake Moosehead for several years in the winter to snowmobile and in the summer to escape the heat and to enjoy the lake. However, we have never stayed in such a beautiful cabin in an exquisite setting. The attention to detail is amazing! Thank you for this experience. We loved having the docks for our boat and the ability to launch and take out right here this time of year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
