We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Innisfree. Thank you, Nina, for sharing your piece of paradise with us. Truly, it is a home away from home. Your home is perfectly set with a gorgeous view of the lake and the sunsets! Walking to the dock each day to fish and sitting on the porch were some of our favorite spots. The peddle boat came in handy to venture around the lake. We are looking forward to our next stay!

We chose the Bristol area for our winter vacation because we wanted a rural experience away from the crowds. During the winter, southern Florida is rife with snowbirds and the coastal areas seem to have row after row of high-rise condos. But the central panhandle region is known as the old/forgotten Florida and it truly is a nature lover's paradise. If you're looking for a wilderness adventure, this is the place. Bristol is a small village on the Apalachicola river with few businesses but you can get groceries, gas, and other essentials. We were here to commune with nature and were rewarded with myriad flora/fauna too numerous to list. We explored the marshes, beaches, and forests with our car, our bikes, and the owner's canoe. When we paddled the area creeks and rivers we felt like we were in the Amazon - wild and exotic. A nice thing about the local creeks and rivers is that the slow current allows you to paddle in either direction, eliminating the need to spot a car. The waterways are so remote that you're unlikely to see cabins or other signs of civilization. Just what we wanted. Nina's cottage, which she calls Innifree (after a poem by W.B.Yeats) was cozy with all the creature comforts one might need as well as an eclectic library of books, videos, and music CDs. The home is decorated with charming folk art and is only steps from the beach. If there is a downside, it's that the lake is lined with homes and cabins. But most of them seem to be "seasonal" dwellings and thus mostly unoccupied during the winter months. Even though populated, the lake was quiet and peaceful with very little activity. We had a very pleasant stay and the property owner was charming and very attentive. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable cottage in the woods on a beautiful lake, come to Innisfree. I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree, And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made: Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee; And live alone in the bee-loud glade. And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet's wings. I will arise and go now, for always night and day I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore; While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, I hear it in the deep heart's core. W.B. Yeats

We stayed at the lake house the week of Oct 13-20 and were extremely pleased. It was exactly as described and completly furnished with everything we needed. It was soo nice to have a gas grill, and the pedal boat to use. Everything was in perfect condition and we had no problems what so ever. Nina texted us twice to make sure everything was OK and gave us fishing and activitity tips. It is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation away from the crowds yet close enough to the beach and the parks to enjoy them all.

I grew up up visiting Lake Mystic. With so many wonderful memories, I wanted my family to enjoy the same experience. We loved every minute of our recent vacation and can't wait to come back. The lake is beautiful. The crystal clear water is perfect for swimming, boating and fishing. Our kids had a blast. The house was great, a home away from home with all the necessities. The screened back porch is perfect for reading and relaxing. What a special place to get away and spend time with the family. We love Lake Mystic & Innisfree. Thanks Nina!

I have stayed in this house several times with girlfriends and with my husband. I will always go back. Being a native Floridian, I appreciate the small town atmostphere, the lack of high rises, and the wildlife. The porch where we enjoy the sunsets also provide an intoxicating lounge when a Florida shower falls on the tin roof. The water is how is should be. Clear, mineral rich, and right out the back door!!! I can't wait til next time!!!

This is really a very special place. The water has "curative" properties and the sunsets are beyond magnificent! While there are many fabulous excursions including some of the most beautiful beaches accessible in an easy day trip...I am always happy to be back at "the lake". I always return from a Lake Mystic vacation relaxed, refreshed and renewed. I highly recommend!!

We loved the crystal clear water on this quiet little lake. The rooms are tidy and comfortable - but try sleeping on the screened in porch! The kitchen is well equipped, and we loved canoeing. Pick up some seafood in town - or take a day trip to the coast and stock up there. This is the perfect spot when you want to shut everything off, get off the grid and settle in with some good books.

we spent several days at this house in july 2011. although it was hot, the house has great AC and the lake is just steps away. this is a spring-fed lake so the water is unbelievably clear - not muddy like most lakes. there is some boat traffic on the lake, but it dies down as the sun sets. the primary things to do are nature-related activities; there are a couple of national and state forests within miles, and the charming city of apalachicola (oyster heaven) is within an hour's drive. but mostly we just hung out - swimming, sunning, reading, watching movies etc. thats the kind of vacation we were looking for and thats what we got. highly recommended if thats what you are looking for too.

An undiscovered paradise with adventures an hour away in every direction! Thank you for opening your home for others to enjoy. It is a home away from home to escape from the hustle bustle and truly wind down. Peaceful and quiet with beautiful sunsets and tranquil breezes..... Crystal clear water that is so soft it washes away all that ails you. I have never felt so relaxed. Took many naps on the porch,,,,swam with the dogs, ate every meal gazing at the lake, and watched shooting stars from the dock at night. What more could I have asked for?

About the owner: I have been recruiting in the Atlanta area for over thirty years. I love to travel and enjoy cooking , music and the arts. I love dogs and have two Jack Russel Terrorists who go everywhere with me.

                  Why the Owner Chose Bristol:
My Father, an avid outdoorsman, bought this property in 1954 . He was awestruck by the crystal clear water of the lake and the great Bass fishing and hunting in the area . He was fascinated with the Aquifer in Florida and loved it's many prisitne lakes and springs. My Mother moved here full-time in the 70's and worked as a Nurse in the neighboring town of Blountstown. She is known throughout the area as 'Miss Bertha' and for calling out the fish : 'Here fishy- fishy ' . As a crowd of fish would gather, she fed them cracker mush with a baby bottle. They took it greedily. Yes, I have pictures. I am known as 'Miss Nina' , Miss Bertha's daughter.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
I so enjoy being so close to so many natural attractions. Cape San Blas, St. George's Island, ST. Marks, Wakulla Springs, Florida State Caverns and Mexico Beach to name a few. The Apalachicola Oysters are world famous for a reason. It is a joy to catch fish from such pristine waters as Lake Mystic because you can eat what you catch with no worries about chemicals or other toxins. It is commonplace to have the magnificent Bald Eagles land in the pine trees right outside the screend porch and to wake to a four foot tall Great Blue Heron standing on the dock gazing down into the clear water at his next meal.
