enjoyed the conveniently located house and discovered East Tennessee! The house was secluded and well suited for 6 adults and completely met our needs. The owner was most helpful and accommodating as we planned our trip and had good local information available in the house upon arrival. We rented a pontoon boat at Mallard Cove Marina and spent an entire day on beautiful Wautaga Lake, surrounded by glorious mountains. We visited Mountain City and enjoyed dinner in Elizabethon, drove to Blowing Rock and took the Blue Ridge Parkway to Little Switzerland and took off the parkway on the return trip and drove local roads back to Butler. Stopped at Hidden Treasures Antiques & Unique Things in Elk Park, NC, where we were greeted by a lovely and helpful owner. We discovered an area we would like to revisit and get to know better!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: my husband and I were looking for a mountain cottage near our son and his family outside of Boone, NC,.Not only did we find exactly what we wanted but got the added bonus of being on one of the most beautiful lakes in America! Then we realized we landed in one of the richest musical areas as well, ranging from the Carter Famliy to the celtic music traditions. Plus the Appalachian trail accross the lake and snow skiing in the Southern Appalachians? You gotta be kidding! I know you will love it too!
