'Heart of Palms' in the gated community of Old Florida Beach is a quiet retreat for both families and older guests. Just 30 yards from the Community Swimming Pool, 50 yards to the dock on Draper Lake and 150 yards from the luxuriously wide Beach.
Completely remodeled and professionally decorated in Spring 2012. All new Chef's Kitchen, Two Master King Bedrooms (1st floor and 2nd floor), Four New Bathrooms - Master with new jetted tub, rainfall shower in second Master. The first floor has one Master (King) with jetted whirlpool tub/shower and second bedroom (twin beds which can be made into a King for a total of three kings) and separate full bath. Chef's kitchen with all new appliances and marble counters is fully equipped for the gourmet cook. Time saving family-sized washer and dryer is on first floor off of the kitchen.
The second floor has another Master Bedroom (King) with walk-in rainfall shower and french doors to covered balcony. An additional large bedroom has four twins (two singles and one bunk bed) with full bath. From the second floor hallway, step out to the wrap-around mostly covered deck where sunbathers can lounge in the sun or families can share a meal or a nap under the tin-roofed deck. View sunsets over the Gulf from this vantage point.
Nearby, walk to favorite local restaurants: Goatfeathers with local seafood market or Cafe Tango. Just down the road on 30-A, walk or bike to Gulf Place shopping center for more restaurants, ice cream, clothing stores, wine shop or pharmacy. A bike path connects all of the communities along highway 30-A including Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton Beach. The outlets of Sandestin are only 15 minutes drive from here. Golfers may play at the Santa Rosa Beach and Golf Club only 1.4 miles away and other golf courses nearby.
For the nature lover, Draper Lake Preserve edges along the Old Florida Beach neighborhood and has a dock just 5 houses down the street from which you may fish or launch a canoe. Only three other areas in the world have these 'coastal dune lakes' that connect to the ocean through the sand dunes. This shallow channel makes a safe area where young children can play for hours in very shallow water.
The new Northwest Florida Beaches airport (ECP) is an easy 20 minutes away and Destin/Ft. Walton (DSI) is 40 minutes away.

This home is wonderful and only a very short walk to a gorgeous beach (literally about a 1 minute walk). The house was clean, cozy and beautifully furnished and decorated. The photos are accurate and actually the home is more beautiful in person. I would (and will!) absolutely recommend this property to a friend. The rooms are set up nicely with flat screen tv's in each bedroom. The beds were extremely comfortable with high quality sheets and quilts and plenty of extra blankets. There are two rooms with twin beds and the owner of the home provided a kit that actually makes two twin beds into one, which we did use. The kids room is set up nicely and there even a few toys and games which our kids thoroughly enjoyed. The kitchen had every appliance, utensil and dish that we needed. The porches are amazing, the upstairs porch is the perfect place to lounge and read a book or look at the stars. Te beaches are incredible and that's where we spent most of our time. We also ate at the local seafood restaurant- just a block away and rode bikes one day to Seaside to shop. There is a great health food store just down the road as well as a bike shop with rentals and a cute bakery. We also did visit Ft. Walton and there are great designer outlet malls there.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

"Heart of Palms" is sheer beach perfection. The open layout was very family-friendly and the bedrooms were a great size for spreading out. I greatly enjoyed the gourmet kitchen while my husband and children watched football and relaxed. From the cute bowls and wine glasses to the chef-friendly stainless steel pans, this kitchen had it all. The decor was a perfect blend of beautiful furniture & interesting art, yet still very comfortable and relaxing. No vacation is quite complete without cocktails and a sunset and we enjoyed every minute spent on the 2nd floor deck. It was our first time to stay on this end of 30A...It was a perfect blend of fun and tranquility.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had the pleasure of staying at Hearts of Palm for a week. We were so pleased to find that house is even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The owners definitely planned and decorated the house as if they were going to be living there full time – it was that comfortable. Harriet was responsive and helpful to all questions that I had. The house is a very easy walk to the beach and allows enough time to get the sand off your toes! We loved the beach and the interaction it has with the coastal lake. Our kids loved playing there. The house is also very convenient to the community pool – which is a great feature.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This home was simply lovely. It was the perfect balanace of understated elegance and beach coziness. The high quality appliances made cooking for my family a dream. The pictures do not do the house justice. Each room lays out well for function and privacy. Two small families could easily rent this home together. Even though the house is not directly on the beach you can get a glimpse of the water from the upper balcony. The house was in perfect order - very clean and fresh. The owner answered all our questions prior to arrival and was very very helpful. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a home away from home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house is a great option for a wonderful vacation. Very easy walk to wonderful peaceful beach that offers something for all the family. Ocean body surfing for adventurous little kids and calm dune lake for the smaller ones. The house itself is comfortable and tastefully decorated. Well equipped kitchen for those who love to cook and a large dining table for a big family to gather round and share the days adventures. Even better than the listing photos! Also easy walking distance or short drive to shopping , restaurants, grocery and golf course. We had a great family vacation and look forward to returning. About the owner: We have both been coming to beaches on the Gulf from our home in Kentucky all of our lives. Guy is a commercial banker and real estate investor and Harriet has owned her own catering business for over 25 years. We both enjoy entertaining people in our home and love creating places for our family and friends to gather. We have two grown children, three grandchildren and an 11 year old son who came along in our early middle years.
Why the Owner Chose Old Florida Beach:
We wanted a permanent place near our grown children. Our daughter and granddaughter live nearby and our oldest son and his family live in Birmingham. Seems we were renting bigger and bigger homes and finally decided it would be a good investment to buy our own place in Santa Rosa. This is not just a rental unit property for us. It is our home at the beach and so we've put in the amenities and quality appliances and beds that we are used to in our main residence. I've always said that I wouldn't want to stay in a vacation place that wasn't as nice as my own home. It wouldn't be much of a vacation in that case!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Old Florida Beach is quiet, being over three blocks away from the main road, protected on one side by Draper Lake preserve and is gated to keep traffic away. Children can easily move around the neighborhood like we used to do as kids. The beach is very wide here and the lake with dock makes for fun hours of fishing or just sitting and viewing the sunlight on the dunes.
