This single family home is located directly on Blue Hill Bay. "Middle Patch" is situated on over 2 private wooded acres with over 200 feet of shoreline. With gorgeous unobstructed views throughout the house, you look across the bay to see Cadillac Mountain and Mt. Desert Island.
Middle Patch is conveniently located near Blue Hill and is a short drive to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor with all the outdoor activities that Acadia has to offer. This is a perfect getaway house and a house for all seasons; view the baby seals on the rocks in front of the house in the spring, watch the graceful sailboats race by during the summer, revel in the panoramic autumn foliage, or enjoy the quiet solitude of winter on the bay.
The charming town of Blue Hill is less than ten minutes away, with its excellent restaurants, grocery stores, a wonderful library, banks, restaurants, wine store, art galleries and post office to name a few.
Venturing farther out, there are many historic villages to explore, to include Southwest Harbor, Castine, Stonington, Deer Isle, and Camden. Blue Hill is also an easy 45 minute drive to Bangor and Bangor International Airport and just a little over two hours to the Portland airport, LL Bean and the outlet stores in Freeport.
Middle Patch has two floors with an attached garage. The first floor has kitchen/laundry, dining room, living room with wood burning fireplace, full bathroom, large bedroom with two twin beds, and a den with futon couch. The dining room has a table that will expand to seat 6-8 comfortably and leads to the enclosed all-season porch with numerous windows on all three sides, lots of seating and a bistro table to eat your meals view the woods, water, and activity on the bay.
The second floor has two large bedrooms and a full bathroom. Both bedrooms have wonderful views of the water.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric appliances, pots and pans, dishes, glasses and silverware, filtered water at kitchen sink. There is a generator available if needed and there is an attic whole house fan on those few nights it may be needed.
Middle Patch will be a wonderful vacation for you and your family. Don't forget to bring your camera, binoculars, and beach towels. The kids can explore, look for sea life in the tide pools, climb on the rocks, and dig for mussels at low tide to cook for dinner. It is a very relaxing and beautiful location. It can be a romantic getaway, a great family vacation, an adventure, or a get-away-from-it-all for a week.
And after you are out and about all day, you can come back to Middle Patch, have a glass of wine on the porch and watch the sun set.

Beautiful views, wildlife watching, quiet walks, and tranquility is what you will find at the Middlepatch house. I have been coming here for years and am now bringing my children to experience the Maine woods and shores. It is so peacefull to sit out on the enclosed porch, drink coffee and watch the lobstermen bring in their catch or see the seals and loons swim by. The rocky shore is just down a short path where you will find tidepools filled with numerous aquatic life. It is well worth a visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed here and highly recommend it to anyone wanting relaxation with a view! Roomy and comfy house. Charming curb apeal too. We gathered our own mussels for lunch right there at the beach! We had a ball watching the seals with their water play. The back screened in porch was our favorite place to enjoy all that Maine has to offer. Easy day trip to Bal Harbor. We made lots of memories and you will too!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Our favorite place is the porch too. We spend hours looking at the views. I love to watch the fog rolling in over the water.

Why the Owner Chose Blue Hill:
The land that Middle Patch is built on has been in the family for 150 years. It is part of an original parcel of over 200 acres called "Borderland." The property included several granite quarries and a large stone dock used to load the granite on wooden coastal schooners. The granite from these quarries was used to build many bridges and buildings in New York City. The dock is still in existence, just east of the house and affords great views of the bay and Cadillac Mountain.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is so peaceful and relaxing to sit on the porch or down on the rocks and watch the sun rise or set, watch the waves come in, and sometimes see seals or dolphins swim past. Our grown children love to come back and remember the fun times they had collecting shells, playing in the tidepools and climbing the rocks.
