FAabulous all around!
FAabulous all around!
Our family rented this fabulous home March 19-26 2011. Our entire stay was wonderful right from the very start. Every vacationer's necessities, (including adult beverages) were left for us, & everything was incredibly clean both inside & outside of the home. During our vacation we visited the beautiful beaches of Boca Grande, we enjoyed an alligator air boat ride out of Miami, the same day we took a car ride through architecturally scenic Miami, we ventured to the zoo one day, on another we visited Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City Car Museum & we went on a sunrise cruise out of Fishermen's Village, which was a lot of fun even though mother nature didn't allow us to witness the sunset we'd hoped for. Our nights outside of the house were kept busy by going to Harpoon Harry's in Fishermen's Village as well as Corky's Rock & Roll Bar & Grill right up the road in Port Charlotte. As for our time spent in the home, we saw an armadillo waddling it's way through the beautifully maintained gardens. Also daily we had an alligator which we named "Creepers" that would come to the edge of the rock bank for a daily hello, of sorts. My husband enjoyed fishing every time he found a spare moment w the fishing equipment that was left in the home for visitor's use. We enjoyed one whole day of relaxing in the home, just relaxing & tanning. The pool was amazing & private even w neighbors not far away. We didn't feel as though we had to keep quiet the entire time & we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Financially speaking, the home ended up being more affordable to share between a group 4 than renting a hotel would have been. & the obvious convenience of being in a home versus a hotel doesn't even compare! We were able to get into a cool car, which we kept in the garage overnight. Our daily view was that of a scenic creek, beautiful gardens & a private pool instead of a parking lot & public pool. We stocked the fridge & freezer our first day, so we felt right at home. We weren't able to get the radio to work so we could listen to music while in the pool & the internet only worked for first 2 days of our stay. The homeowners returned our call the same day when we inquired about the internet password on our first day, so I'm sure they'd have tried remedying it if we'd called. But truth be told, neither was a big inconvenience w my husband having an internet accessible phone. We're currently trying to figure out when we could plan our next trip to this wonderful home!

My husband and I stayed in this villa 7-21 May 2011. We've been to Florida many times and many places but this is undoubtedly the nicest and most luxurious of the villas we've stayed in. The settling is beautiful and peaceful too. The house has everything you need and the rooms are exactly as the pictures. The pools is heated and makes use more enjoyable. I actually used the pool nearly every day, and I have never done this before. The fishing is excellent at the house and my husband spent many hours out there enjoying catching all the different kinds of fish, and yes, shrimp was the best bait! Having the use of the owners fishing tackle, cool box, chairs and towels to take to the beach were an added bonus. As I said the house was perfect and we really didn't want to come home. It's a great place for to stay and would totally recommend anyone to spend some time in this villa.

Owner response: It's good to know we are providing a good quality place for guests to stay. Some people have doubts about the location of the house, and whilst some feel it is a little bit too far from downtown Punta Gorda (ten minutes max. by car), we know we have so much to offer with the gardens, house and creek. The people who choose not to stay do not know what they are missing! We have taken on board your comments in our guest book about having a DVD library and have already addressed this. We have left a basket of films which we hope will be of interest for most visitors, though there's no accounting for everyone's taste! Thank you for the idea. We thank you for your review and hope you will visit our home again soon. Jeanette and Keith
The Most Beautiful Villa
The Most Beautiful Villa
We stayed at the villa for 7 nights from 6th April 2011 to 13th April 2011, we had an amazing time during our stay, the accommodation was very comfortable and the views outside were incredible, we went to Sanibel Island, Pine Island and Boca Grande all were lovely places to visit. We found it helpful to have a phone number of a neighbour, for any questions we had. I would love to return again soon. The Baker's from Essex U.K.

Great for Wildlife
Great for Wildlife
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lovely spacious home. We are a family of 4 with 2 children under 9 yrs. The best feature of this home is its location on a quite creek and only views of nature to the rear. From the patio we spotted alligators (of various sizes) every day and were treated to a visit from 3 manatees which fed just in front of the property for at least 30 minutes. We also saw turtles and many different birds. The swimming pool is clean and large enough for laps with plenty of space around for lounging and outdoor dining. Fans on the lanai are a bonus. The house was very clean and all furniture from dining chairs to beds was comfortable. The house is well equipped with plenty of space for storing/hanging your belongings. While located in a quiet, residential area, the home is convenient to exploring the coast with Sanibel, Siesta Key, Punta Gorda, Sarasota and Ft Myers within easy reach. For wildlife enthusiasts, it's all in the rear garden, or within easy drive of conservation areas, State parks like Don Pedro and others on Gasparilla where we saw rays and an osprey snatch a fish from the water. The owners have taken care to treat this rental as a proper home and they provide friendly and efficient service and followup. Can't think of a negative thing to say. We would love to return and recommend without hesitation.

Fabulous family vacation
Fabulous family vacation
Lovely spacious house, with one of the most beautiful settings, especially as the sun was rising with mist rising off the creek. My family, spanning 3 generations, have recently returned from a week in Prairie Creek, and we all loved it. My Mum especially enjoyed her upstairs master suite, with separate dressing room, bathroom with walk-in shower, and her balcony to enjoy an evening glass of wine. Even the neighbours were friendly without being intrusive and assisting in pointing out the gators and what bait to use for fishing (shrimps). Our highlight -Sanibel Island, with Traders Restaurant, 'Periwinkle Way' shops and eateries, and the lovely beaches. Anyone traveling from Northern Uk should consider flying Manchester to Orlando International, as the drive is around 2 hours 45. We found this worked really well for us.

I cannot praise this property enough - we have just had an idyllic 3 week holiday there and I'm missing it already! The furnishings are 1st class - not a typical rental property, but lots of lovely details making it feel like a much-loved home. The pictures most definitely don't do this wonderful house justice - it is gorgeous. We had 4 adults and 2 children (ages 7 & 12) in our party, and every one of us loved being at the house. The Peace River (aptly named as it really is so peaceful there) runs at the back, just a few feet from the covered (heated) pool, and we saw lots of alligators, caught many fish and on one memorable occasion, saw an adult and a young manatee feeding on the foliage right in front of us! Lots of birds to see too, including 2 resident Sandhill Cranes who were usually around to greet us on our evening return, and a bright red Cardinal which was a very regular visitor. Prairie Creek is a great place - lovely and peaceful, but within an easy 10 minutes drive to 'downtown' Punta Gorda with it's beautiful historic district, and many varied restaurants (we sampled quite a few and can recommend them too!). More eating places and shops/malls are a further 15 minutes away (over a stunningly lovely bridge) in Port Charlotte. It's so nice to get away from the tourist trap areas around Orlando, and meet the wonderfully friendly and helpful locals along the Gulf Coast. We used the house as a base to travel up and down the Gulf Coast, and even braved the 5 hour drive to the Keys - well worth it, but lovely to get back to Prairie Creek after 2 days away! All in all, a perfect place to stay, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this property - it's an absolute credit to Keith and Jeanette.

I can not say enough good things about this home. 4 bedrooms and baths worked great for the 8 of us staying in the home.. we loved watching for alligators and we did see them every day. the fish jump, and the pool was wonderful. the home had everything we needed for our stay. not once did we say I wish we had....we even found a cooler to take to the beach. the owners are easy to deal with. and the neighbors were very nice. this was my first time ever renting a vacation home and it was not disappointing.. thank you for sharing your home it is beautiful.

Relaxing family Vacation In Punta Gorda
Relaxing family Vacation In Punta Gorda
We have recently spent two fantastic weeks in this superb house on Shell Creek with our two daughters, sons-in Law and our fifteen month old granddaughter. The accomodation is first class and everything we needed for a great vacation was thoughtfully provided by the owners, including a cot and high chair for our youngest, fishing equipment for fishing in the creek at the end of the garden, equipment for having fun in the large heated pool, outdoor dining facilities with gas BBQ and much much more. The house is truly first class, it is clean and tidy, furnished to a very high standard and very well maintained. The location is ideal as it offers a peaceful and relaxing environment where you are able to relax in the pool or fish in the creek away from the busier parts of Port Charlotte or Fort Myers, but is still within easy reach of the restaurants, stores, malls and numerous golf courses in the area. The superb Gulf Coast beaches of Boca Grande, Captiva Fort Myers etc. are also a relatively short drive away. The wildlife in and around the creek is amazing and during our two weeks we were very fortunate to see aligators, turtles, herons, a racoon and even a manatee on two seperate occasions. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation on Shell Creek and would recommend both the area and this holiday home to all of our relatives and friends visiting South Florida.

Peaceful Punta Gorda
Peaceful Punta Gorda
We had a fantastic week in Punta Gorda. Your lovely house was a perfect base for us to experience the Florida Everglades. The house was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for the seven of us. We loved the pool and the fishing in the creek, we caught some amazing specimens. Anyone lucky enough to stay here will have a thoroughly relaxing time.

Shell Creek -our little bit of paradise in Florida
Shell Creek -our little bit of paradise in Florida
If you are looking for a place where you can totally relax, enjoy the sun and while away the hours by the creek, fishing, sipping chilled chardonnay, watching basking alligators and manatees as the sun sets - this is the place for you. The house is ideally situated - not far from lots of things to see and do - but set away from the busier areas of the fort Myers and Port Charlotte areas. The house is pure luxury - everything you could ever need in a holiday home. The pool area is large and the dining area outside also is a real bonus with a gas BBQ too. The gardens are beautiful and mature. We are returning to the house for the 7th time this year. We never stray far as the house offers such a relaxing opportunity but we would recommend trips to the beach at Boca Grande and Captiva, a visit to Venice and we have done a day trip to Key West by Catamaran from Fort Myers. Punta Gorda downtown is ever changing - with new places opening all the time. Our favourite places for food and drink include: Celtic ray, Deans,River City Grill The Ice House, and the Working Cow for the very best ice creams. There are grocery stores only 5-10minutes from the house and a fantastic German Butcher going north on the 41. If you are looking for a deli - try Presseller in the town centre- good for beach picnics. The property owners always make contact to ensure all is in place when you have arrived at the house and a local family in the neighbourhood are on hand if there are any problems. Our first visit to the house was the first time we had ever booked a villa - and we have not been anywhere else since. Prairie Creek is so relaxing, has everything you need and is perfectly located for an allround holiday.
