Quaintly Nova Scotian! A 1930's cedar-shake cottage, nestled in to the mountainside with a wide, close view of the Bay of Fundy!
The Bay of Fundy was one of Frommer's top global destinations in 2012! Nova Scotia was a Lonely Planet top pick for 2012!
In the fall of 2012, Annapolis Royal won the title of 'Cultureville' of the Maritimes. A short drive from the cottage will take you into the heart of this delightful town! Second place in this contest was Wolfville, just an hour's drive through the scenic Annapolis Valley and you're there!
Nature is big here in Nova Scotia! (Parkers Cove is no exception) You'll find mountains & valleys, oceans & lakes, bays & brooks, big skies & wide views, cliffs & caves, pebble shores and sandy beaches.
The cottage offers a respite from the busy world...almost a step back in time. Without TV or internet to distract you, the noise of technology is replaced with birdsong or the soothing rhythm of waves...the wind blowing through the trees or the babbling of the brook.
Watch our 'nature channel'! Gaze at the calming views of bobbing lobster boats on the Bay from a seat on the porch or reclining in the bed upstairs. Watch the seals watching you. And keep an eye out for porpoises and the occasional whale - surprising number of sightings in last summer. Lots of sea birds and ducks as well as our resident eagle.
And then there are the crows....if they are not talking 'at' you, they are talking about you to their feathered friends.
Be sure to count them! Do you know the poem?
One crow sorrow, two crows bliss,
Three crows a letter, four crows a kiss,
Five crows silver, six crows gold,
Seven crows a secret never to be told!
Walk the trails behind the cottage by following the path along the brook to the 'bench of contemplation' and rest in the coolness by the forest stream. Your dog may like to take a drink of this cold clear water. Deer may make a morning appearance. Red arrows mark the main trail, the short cut and the lowland path. Not a challenging hike but a nice walk through the woods. Walking sticks are leaning by the front door.
Have a campfire under the stars (so many stars!) in our 'Nova Scotian' fire pit. Grilling rack available for barbecuing the old fashioned way or use the gas barbecue.
Forget fast food~ feed your soul with all that is available in the area - the catch of the day, organic produce, local wines and our delicious spring water at the cottage. There are wonderful restaurants in the area and an incredible farmers market on Saturday. Prepare your meals in the cottage kitchen or take it easy and have the fish market just down the road cook your lobster for you!
The cottage is small but cosy ~
Inside the front door, you'll find hooks to hang your jacket, hat or bag. Below there is a built-in bench to perch on or disperse your load of shopping bags or shore finds. Shelves below the bench offer storage for your shoes or what ever you choose. You'll also find games such as Scrabble, Cribbage, Checkers, Backgammon and Cards shelved there.
In the relaxing room, feel free to rest your feet on the table as you slouch back in the comfortable couch and enjoy the view. Pillows and throws add to your repose. A great place to enjoy a impromptu nap.
The eat-in kitchen features the original cottage cupboards, full size refrigerator, an electric stove, a microwave, toaster, blender, mini-grill, coffee maker and an electric kettle. Dishes, glassware, silverware, cooking utensils, tea towels, pots and pans are all there for your use.
There is a storage room off the kitchen that leads to the back door and the herb garden. Its a good place to stow luggage and coolers.
First floor bedroom offers a double bed and a small closet under the stairs. The original wooden walls are painted white and the wooden floor is a nautical blue. View from the window is of the woods, very green and calm. Open it and enjoy fresh air. There is also a fan available.
Full bathroom that is just steps away of the kitchen features a shower with great pressure. A washer and dryer is there for your use or feel like a local and use the clothes line. You'll find a laundry basket and clothes pins. Also a hair dryer and of course, lots of towels.
Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a double bed. A 1/2 bath is tucked under the eaves. Whitewashed wooden walls and a finished wooden floor make for a cozy space. Windows on all sides so views of water and woods plus great cross breezes. There is a small closet, a chest of drawers and shelves where you'll find books and cds. There is also a cd player and a clock radio. Rest your suitcases on the trunks for easier access. Also for your convenience, a hair dryer and a fan.
Out of doors, a front porch beckons. A 'shore road' bench made by my neighbour makes a comfortable perch. Guests have enjoyed coffee, wine, even meals here. Others have used the porch to meditate, do yoga, write and paint.
Shore access is granted by my neighbours. I will show you the paths to use when you arrive. Take the bucket and do a bit of beach combing and see what you can find. You never know what washes up with the Fundy tides!
You'll find a friendly community along the road. Take a walk in either direction and enjoy the views. Don't be surprised if someone waves at you or stops to chat. You might get invited in for a coffee or a lobster dinner! The wildflowers that grow here are incredible. Pick a bunch for the cottage.
Bring art supplies, yoga mat, journal, camera, books, binoculars, hiking boots, golf clubs - you never know what you'll be inspired to do!
I live just down the road, 1.2 km - close at hand if you need anything...like warm coats to go whale watching or help cooking a lobster;

The cottage was very nice and very cozy. The kitchen was well stocked for the variety of meals we prepared. It was also great to have the on site washer/dryer. The glassed in porch was a comfortable spot to relax and view the beautiful sunsets. I'd love to return!Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

4 sisters gathered from all across Canada to spend a memorable sister reunion at this adorable cottage across from the Bay of Fundy. From morning coffee in the relaxing room to a glass of wine and sunsets over the Bay. We all really enjoyed our week spent in Parkers Cove . We were able to relax and unwind in true Nova Scotia fashion. Many exciting area events happening during the week we stayed! Art--The artist painted thru out the town of Annapolis Royal the weekend we arrived . We watched them paint and we could later view the beautiful results at the live and ever changing art auction at the Legion! Wonderful views of the city and gardens to see and take home a colourful memory! Scenery- We enjoyed the South west area of NS ,site seeing daily ,off to Peggy's Cove , Mahone Bay with the lovely scenic view of the 3 churches, Chester and more.. Lighthouses and Tearooms, shopping at local markets and small scenic towns. Food- Enjoying Fresh Fish and Seafood along the way! Tea and treats. Theatre- viewed a fabulous movie at the local Theatre ....hope to see a live play next time! Every corner seems to hold a more scenic view than the last! There was something for everyone! The cottage was perfect for 4 sisters to reunite and unwind, read and relax...We hope to return each summer for more fun and memories! Truly wonderful!!! Safe and secure!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, sightseeing.

This is a charming reteat from our real life, which we didn't realise was that tiring. A well equipped place, which is very commfortable. Sitting in the sun lounge watching the sea is captivating, the seals, the various plummiting sea birds, two marvelous unphotographable humming birds and the glorious sea eagle.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My first time trip to Nova Scotia was made precious and pleasurable because I chose to stay at Peggy's quaint cottage in Parker's Cove! To start, the charm and friendliness of Peggy made me feel welcomed and confident that I had chosen the right accomidation for me and my dog. Peggy was organized and clear with all the rental details and directions which made my stay hassle-free and welcoming. As for the cottage, it definitely shines in my mind as the perfect base for a Nova Scotia getaway! It was clean organized and pleasantly decorated with coastal flair. It was conveniently stocked with all that I needed to cook and savour seafood that I purchased from a friendly place just up the road. The cottage's proximity to the beach allowed me to privately enjoy the Bay of Fundy to the fullest: marvelling at the view from the porch, beachcombing at my leisure (quietly watching the seals was a highlight) and being lulled to sleep by the waves at night. And when I wanted to explore the rich history and beauty of Annapolis Royale, Digby, and a multitude of other sights the cottage was perfectly situated that I did not have to travel too far and the drive was scenic. In the span of a week the cottage felt like a second home to me and Peggy a long time friend...what more could you want in a vacation rental?! Thanks, Peggy! (Zena barks her thanks too!)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

This lovely Parker's Cove cottage provided the perfect location for us honeymooners from America. We felt like an old married couple making breakfast together in the charming kitchen each morning. As city dwellers, we loved that the cottage is far enough away from the city that we felt like we really "got away" yet it's located in close proximity to so many charming little towns with trails, shopping, photo opportunities, & sightseeing. The lack of TV/Internet was a wonderful escape - we came home beat from our ventures and relaxed by watching the sun go down from the porch - how many of us Americans ever take the time to do that? We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean though the bedroom windows & woke up to birds chirping - what a way to relax! Neighbors are quite friendly yet completley respect your privacy. The German bakery in Annapolis Royal was a taste of home and the historic marker driving tour of the French Coast (to Yarmouth) made for a fun day trip. The owners were quite helpful and wonderful to work with.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, sightseeing.

The cottage was sweet and perfect for myself and my dog Bella. We didn't even use the upstairs but it was just as lovely. The little trails out back was refreshing and my dog played in the brook running along it. We explored the shore several times where you can walk along collecting shells and bits of driftwood. My only concern was the road running in front of the cottage so I couldn't trust my dog run in the yard, but other than that it was very peaceful.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: There is a fence along the length of the front yard but it's open at the driveway. In the past, the fence has been a successful deterrent for our dog but she's small and has never figured out its open at one end. I understand your concern. Bella's a big dog so the fence would break her stride but not keep her in. I can provide a long lead to tie to the clothes line on your next visit. Bella will be secure but still able to explore the property. It can be shortened and used on the front porch. It was a pleasure for me to see Bella run up the trail, down to the brook and leap onto the rock ledges. My dog is too old to do that now so it was a real treat! Look forward to you visiting again.

What can we say...this cottage sits directly across from the Bay of Fundy so it has a spectacular view. The cottage was incredibly clean and charming. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy preparing any type of meal. The two bedrooms were perfectly equipped with a large number of pillows and extra blankets. The washer and dryer were a plus. We really enjoyed using the clothesline and walking around the large yard.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: There is nothing like line drying your clothes in the clean breezes of the Bay. The locals gave you the seal of approval for using the clothes line. Its a Nova Scotia practice that even shows up in our art and music. It was a pleasure meeting you and hope you can stay longer next time.

Beautiful surroundings, charming cottage, and a lobster pound just down the road --- makes for a memorable stay! I was only there for four days, but look forward to another visit. Well located--private, but just a short 10 minute drive to Annapolis Royal and beyond..... Oh, I forgot to mention -- the MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER!! Love this placeOwner response: I love what you did with the place! You made the cottage your home if only for four days. Remember there is space for your sewing machine if you come for an extended stay next year.

my husband and i stayed in this spotlessly clean and carefully maintained cottage last summer. it was just as advertised, and so picturesque. it has a well-equipped kitchen for foodies, and many charming touches added by the owners who live just down the road and are highly responsive. the photos capture the lovely view of both the water and the natural surroundings. there is a rolling lawn for relaxation or bonfires. the lobster pound is just down the road, and the quaint town is lots of fun to explore. it's a wonderful place to experience a most desirable and rewarding area, and i would recommend it to a friend or relative unhesitatingly. just driving through the countryside is restorative, and there are numerous places to go for music, good food and local color and crafts.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: The bonfire awaits. Lobster is about $6.00/ lb. this year. Whales have been spotted in the Bay....so what are you waiting for? I know we'll be seeing you again soon. Your black lab is always welcome - he is such a good traveller.

I have stayed at this cozy Parker's Cove Cottage for two wonderful holidays once in late summer 2011 and the year before in June 2010. I just loved both visits.I love to relax and enjoy time off from my busy job.I could totally unwind with a cup of tea and a view of the Bay of Fundy in the early morning after a very refreshing night of sleep. The lobster boats would past into view as I listened to CBC on the radio and sank into the comfy couch. I quickly understood why it had been nicknamed "The Relaxing Room." A great place to read as well with a glass of wine at sunset. I enjoyed long walks along Shore Road with a constant changing view of the Bay of Fundy before me.I was always amazed at how friendly the neighbours were as I walked by always a wave and a smile. There is alot to see and do in the area as well. I really enjoyed short drives to the Historic towns of Annapolis Royal ,Digby, Wolfville and Kentville. Lovely places to explore, shop and dine. I really look forward to my next visit . The cottage was just a perfect oasis for me! My Husband enjoyed walking the cottage trails and the great golf courses in the area!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: In honour of your visit this year, the wine glasses have been restocked, new books added and the seals are standing by. Whales have been spotted in the Bay already this summer so from your comfy spot in the relaxing room, you may just spot one.
