Salt Water Farm, Ocean & Marsh Views, 3BR, Near Blue Hill

Enjoy our classic, pre-civil war cape with commanding views of the Bagaduce River and our pristine salt marsh. Tour the peninsula, including Blue Hill (8 miles), Castine (9 miles), and experience unspoiled coastal Maine. Or, just relax in the Adirondac chairs and watch the bald eagle feed on the flats.
Our old house maintains its original character, but offers a new fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms with original wide plank pine floors, and two bathrooms, one with a classic claw foot tub and shower, and one, all new, with a stall shower. The brick wood burning fireplace in the living room will take the chill off the cool Maine summer evenings. Don't expect level floors.
Penobscot is a tiny, unspoiled town with a little market (great breakfast sandwiches and coffee to go, ready by 6:30 am!) and a traditional Maine 'clam shack' (whole take out lobsters cooked to order, $6 last summer), an ideal location to explore the Blue Hill peninsula, home to many excellent restaurants, artisans, antique shops, and world famous destinations like the Wooden Boat School, Kneisel Hall music center, and The Good Life Center located at the Nearing homestead in Brooksville. Take a day trip to Stonington (26 miles; a beautiful drive), an authentic fishing village with an eclectic artists' community; not to be missed.
