Summerlight was featured in the April 2006 issue of Cottage Living magazine in a story called 'Bright Hues and Ocean Views.' Each room has a different easter egg color scheme to make you smile. Star gaze on a summer's eve in the jasmine covered hammock, sip your margaritas among friends on the screen porch under the ceiling fans, or listen to a tropical deluge pounding away on on the tin rooftops. Each is an experience you can enjoy all year around at Summerlight.
Cross one street serving the community only and there is dune walkover # 2. Get to the top of the and then it hits you. This is what you came for! It's that first blast of moist salt air on your skin. And it's the delicate scent of the sea oats wafting past on the breeze. But, mostly, it's the breathtaking first glimpse from the heights of the dunes at the Gulf's infinite expanse of sky, sand and water opening up in front of you. Everything sparkles blue and white.
The Summerlight floor plan is living downstairs and sleeping up. This means no hiking up steps with sandy feet to re-fill your iced tea. The laundry, outdoor shower and powder room are just off the kitchen for convenience. Living and dining are all together in a cozy yet open floor plan. Upstairs are the master suite with bath, guest room, full hall bath and the bunk area with a pocket door. The large screen porch is like an extra great room. Out back is the hammock/gazebo, bar b que grill and our private 'nature zone' with native scrub oak and frankly, non indigenous, 8 palm trees, pink oleander, ginger and bottlebrush.
The house has wi-fi, a new 47' Smart TV with Comcast internet, DVD, Blu-Ray and even 3-D features. Netflix and many cable channels give you plenty of entertainment choices. Our sound system is by Bose. Upstairs in the master suite sitting area is another HD TV. The guest room also has a TV and DVD player. An HP Officejet 4500 printer is available but please provide your own ink and paper. Equipment for guests include a baby gate, a double wide air bed, tennis rackets, a simple fishing rig, bocce ball, croquet, board games, flashlights and crab nets. The kitchen has first class everything. Really. Even a wine rack and starfish cookie cutters. We have a first aid kit reserved for jellyfish stings - but no one's ever used it.
The Carillon Beach Community has three pools including a beachfront pavillion with living room style covered seating, and a kiddie pool adjacent heated pool. We have a sand lot and playground as well as basketball and tennis courts. Carillon is a gated community whose streets see more golf carts and bikes than cars. It is over 100 acres in size and the individually architect designed houses are knit together with a maze of 'sand walks' and paved and Camellia strewn promenades perfect for family portraits. People who use walking assistance will love them. The homes of Carillon are adjacent downtown Carillon which has many restaurants, an arcade, a candy shop and free public holiday and music events. Summer and Spring Saturdays are usually graced with weddings in the gorgeous Village Chapel.
We are next to Camp Helen State Park and the huge brackish water Lake Powell which is usually open to the Gulf. The fishing from shore is fantastic ! Kayaks are available to rent.
Carillon is located on the quiet end of the Panama City Beach far from high rises and traffic. Yet, Carillon guests have everything they could want in the way of necessities just across Back Beach Road. ( Publix, CVS, Winn Dixie, Liquor store and bank ) Up Back Beach Rd three miles is Buddy's seafood market. You gotta go to Buddy's. Just east of that is the Beach's newest attraction; Pier Park, where luxuries like an IMAX theater, upscale shopping, dining and entertainment are always in high gear. Get some Kilwin's salt water taffy there to take home. And no - it is not 'airport' taffy. While at Pier Park go see the pier ! The new county pier is the biggest in the state and you can see amazing creatures below the surface and some being pulled up by lucky anglers. To our west, cross Lake Powell into Walton County and Scenic Highway 30-A which is dubbed the 'Design Coast' for it's famous New Urbanist communities including Seaside, Alys Beach, Watercolor and Rosemary Beach. Carillon was one of the first on the coast started in the early '80's.
We hope to see you !

About the owner: Ed caught the Redfish from shore !
Why the Owner Chose Carillon Beach:
We like the roomy lots which provide more privacy and the lack of cars makes our days much more relaxed. The landscape is fantastic. We have the best of both worlds here. The wild Florida of Camp Helen and Lake Powell as well as the convenience of suburban amenities plus all the leisure beachside activities anyone could want. Young or young at heart !
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Close to convenience - far from 'civilization.'
