    Sonoma Square View on map

Sonoma Square is the heart of this beautiful town. Small town setting with wonderful shopping and amazing restaurants. Many events take place in the markets, festivals, street fairs, holiday celebrations, food truck fairs, stage plays and concerts and famous Sebastiani Theatre. The square is located about 15 blocks from casa verano...5 mins by car, 10 mins by bike, 20 mins walking.

Maxwell Farms Regional Park View on map

This park is located 1 short street block away from Casa Verano. Here you will find a skate ramp park, wide green grass sports fields, children's playground sets as well as a Boys N Girls Club. This is sure to be an added plus when visiting Sonoma with children and teens with lots of energy to burn off.

    Enterprise Rent-A-Car View on map

This rental office for Enterprise is also located a short block away from Casa Verano. Convenient for those guests that need services of a car rental agency. Let's say for example that you only need a rental car from the Airport to Casa Verano because the rest of your visit you will be sharing another car with friends or family or maybe you have a private driver during your visit...if you rented from Enterprise, you would be able to return the car as your plans deem needed instead of paying for days when the car would simply sit unused during your visit.

Rancho Viejo Restaurant View on map

We discovered this little gem thanks to the reviews found on YELP. This is a small little Mexican restaurant that specializes in cuisine from the Yucatan region of Mexico. Every dish we've tried so far has not let us down. The prices are more than reasonable and the staff always friendly and accomodating. They will soon have their outdoor patio finished and ready for customers on those balmy days and warm nights Sonoma is known for during the summer. Perfect for those times when you don't feel like cooking but you also don't want to go out to a restaurant...simply call them and order your favorites to-go...walk over1 block, pick it up, walk back home 1 block...and dinner is done without compromising value or flavor.

Rin's Thai Restaurant View on map

What can I say about this place...I fail the eloquence to pay justice to the grandeur that Rin's is. Wow...I didn't know I had that in me. This place is the epitomy of what service and good cooking can do for a place. The food is always outstanding if you enjoy Thai food. We've never had better in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The staff is always cordial and very attentive. They are always accomodating if you want to modify a dish from the menu somehow. You will always see one of the owners there and they always remeber you when you come back. They have a great patio setting as well that can be very cool and shady during the summer heat.

La Michoacana Ice Cream View on map

Step out of your comfort zone. After all, this is what you're supposed to do while on vacation. Try different things that you would not otherwise find back in your town/city. This ice cream place, we discovered simply by driving by and seeing it out of the corner of my eye one day. We immediately did a U-turn and pulled in to the tiny parking lot ( 3 spaces ). It claims to be "all natural", I certainly don't doubt it, everything tastes so fresh and some of the flavors you know are not the type you find on your local store shelf in artificial variety. Try the vanilla...this is not your Mama's vanilla...don't pass up the Tequila flavored one also, there is also one called "Chongos", it was described t

The Fruit Basket #2 View on map

You can't go wrong with this place if you need to shop for produce of any kind. They have and abundance of fruit as well as vegetables. Everything is always freshly rotated and the quality of the produce is very good. Go early in the day for the best pick, this is quite popular as the morning gets later.

Ramekin's Culinary School & Event Center View on map

Located a short walk or a quick bike ride away from Casa Verano, this is the ideal place to take a class so you can learn to cook like a Wine Country Chef. A variety of programs are offered that are sure to quench your thirst for culinary knowledge. This is also a beautiful place for a rehearsal dinner, wedding or post-nuptuals brunch.

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa & Golf Club View on map

For the lady in need of pampering, no matter what the cost...this is your place. Here you can enjoy the day and soak all your tensions away with any treatment you wish. You will be wisked away and treated to the most luxurious spa in Sonoma. For the gentlemen...not that there aren't any of you who would enjoy the same pampering as well but the added bonus is, you can say that you're going to play golf...and you're secret can stay secret.

Mary's Pizza Shack ( The Original ) View on map

This is an institution around these parts. It's a good family style Italian restaurant. The food is well done and tasty. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The staff is young and always bubbly and courteous. If you prefer the standard ( American-Italian) style pizza joint, you will love this. Great, soft, chewy, puffy pizza dough...great sauce and huge meatballs. You can't go wrong with Mary's.

Papa Murphy's Take n' Bake View on map

I may have to bite my tongue as I write bear with me. Though I tend to lean more towards the "snob" side of pizza aficionados when it comes to real Neapolitan Style Pizza and I tend to turn my nose up at all those that can't find the magic in the simple style of true pizza making. I have to admit...I am a little addicted to Papa Murphy's. I love the super thin crust they make for the "DeLite" style. They also do a really good job with my other favorite secret indulgence...Hawaiian Pizza. I know what some of you are saying, "pineapple on pizza" yuck. What can I tell you, I had it once as a child and have not been able to outgrow the craving. Try this one if you go in, order a large

  • R

    Taco Bell View on map

I will not even attempt to defend myself in making this a recommendation for all of you. What can I say, other than that this will quench that craving if you are in the need of a cheap alternative to real food. I'm not sure this qualifies under the legal category of "real food", but it will certainly fill you up when you have not other choice. I suppose this is our way of pay back for all those times that we as tourists have gotten "Montezuma's Revenge" while visiting Mexico. Good the Pepto before you buy the food...just in case.

  • S

    McDonald's View on map

Well, what can I say about this place that hasn't already been said in a million marketing jingles.“Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun” I have to admit this is another of my food weaknesses. If I ever stop in for a restroom break during a long car ride...I can not walk out of these places without getting my fix. I love getting 2 regular cheeseburgers, small fries, Hi-C orange drink and a hot fudge sundae w/nuts. That's all I have to say on the subject for now. Don't overindulge on this stuff, your body will make you pay.

Manager info

Year Purchased: 2011

About: (picture of Manager, Carlos B. not of owner) Recently retired, we (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) came to Sonoma so we could be close to family, especially our two grandchildren. We wish to be involved with their lives and activities while they grow up. We have many family and friends in the Bay Area. We are respectively a retired music teacher and school psychologist. We live an active lifestyle including running, biking, and Zumba.

Why Sonoma:
We (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) chose to buy a home in Sonoma because of its location, beauty and closeness to family and friends. We did not initially consider renting it while we returned to rural New York State during the summer months where the rest of our family and friends are (and our original home). Then we started thinking that maybe we should share such a nice place with others while we are not here. Then local friends who are experienced Innkeepers and currently run WineINN and DineINN Taxi/Transportation/Concierge approached us and offered to manage the home as a vacation rental while we are gone. Knowing our guests would be in good hands prompted us to offer our home for the 6 months when we are not here.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
What a convenient location. 45 minute drive to San Francisco, 15 minute drive to famous Sears Point formerly (Infineon), now Sonoma Raceway (NASCAR, NHRA, AMA etc.). Within a 5 minute walk from our house, there are grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, at least 15 restaurants, a movie theater, various stores, a large regional park, a smaller park, 2 minutes from the bike/running/walking path that goes to the Sonoma Square (a 15 minute walk) with some of the best restaurants anywhere, with multiple wineries and wine tasting. Take a leisurely drive up and down Sonoma Valley and visit maybe a 100 wineries in the region (Napa Valley is 20 minutes away).
