Great stay for bottle rock

While the location was a bit of a drive away from Napa's bottle rock, we were able to use Carlos's taxi service to help us to and from the venue and he was a life saver. The house was very nice, with a lovely backyard and plenty of room inside to hang out together (for 6-8 people). It was also handy to have a few household condiments (oil, butter, hot sauce) so that we didn't need to go buy a whole bottle for just a couple days. One downside was that we are next to a slightly noisy intersection (a stop sign where everyone accelerates from), but being from the city it didn't bother us much at all. Overall a great place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children.

Casa Verano had everything we needed to make our extended weekend of experiencing Sonoma just right. Clean, comfortable and a little extra. The grapes growing and ripe in the backyard courtyard added just the tasty treat for our cheese appetizer plate and first bottle of wine. The convenient ride by host Carlos to our Saturday night meal out in Glen Ellen (The Fig Cafe) was a pleasant treat - all 6 in one vehicle. We thank the owners and hosts.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Owner info

About the owner: Recently retired, we (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) came to Sonoma so we could be close to family, especially our two grandchildren. We wish to be involved with their lives and activities while they grow up. We have many family and friends in the Bay Area. We are respectively a retired music teacher and school psychologist. We live an active lifestyle including running, biking, and Zumba.
Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
We (Peter and Kathleen Dawson) chose to buy a home in Sonoma because of its location, beauty and closeness to family and friends. We did not initially consider renting it while we returned to rural New York State during the summer months where the rest of our family and friends are (and our original home). Then we started thinking that maybe we should share such a nice place with others while we are not here. Then local friends who are experienced Innkeepers and currently run WineINN and DineINN Tour/Shuttle approached us and offered to manage the home as a vacation rental while we are gone. Knowing our guests would be in good hands prompted us to offer our home for the 6 months when we are not here.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
What a convenient location. 45 minute drive to San Francisco, 15 minute drive to famous Sears Point formerly (Infineon), now Sonoma Raceway (NASCAR, NHRA, AMA etc.). Within a 5 minute walk from our house, there are grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, at least 15 restaurants, a movie theater, various stores, a large regional park, a smaller park, 2 minutes from the bike/running/walking path that goes to the Sonoma Square (a 15 minute walk) with some of the best restaurants anywhere, with multiple wineries and wine tasting. Take a leisurely drive up and down Sonoma Valley and visit maybe a 100 wineries in the region (Napa Valley is 20 minutes away).
