Hale ‘I’iwi (pronounced “Ha-lay Eee-ee-vee”) is a cozy, 2 bedroom, 2 bath private country home with a new back porch! This lovely home is located within the lush fern forest of Volcano Village on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Hale ‘I’iwi is beautiful and comfortably furnished, with rooms painted warm, rich colors. Complete with television, VCR, stereo, internet/DSL, a fully equipped kitchen, full bath, a glass-front gas fireplace in the living room, washer and dryer; everything you need to feel “at home” is provided.
Owned by an author and artist whose work is exhibited throughout the island, the walls are covered with block prints depicting Hawaiian mythology.
Enjoy reading from a collection of books on Hawaiiana, listening to Hawaiian music, and making your own music on the “house guitar.” Hale ‘I’iwi is just minutes from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and a variety of fantastic hiking trails, and one mile from the Village restaurants, shops and galleries.
Our backyard borders on the Kilauea Forest Reserve, home to many native bird species, and birdwatchers will delight in seeing a variety of honeycreepers. Hale ‘I’iwi sleeps five comfortably and is great for families or a romantic getaway. Come and enjoy the perfect combination of nature, comfort, privacy and convenience.

"Kind of cozy place in Volcano" Hale Pikake at a first glance is a nice home in Volcano, good base for trekking in the Volcanoes National Park and very nice getaway in the mountain side of Big Island. "Cute comfortable house" The Hale Pikake met our needs perfectly. It was cute and comfortable. Having a fireplace was great, especially on those cold Volcano evenings. The porch with table was a favorite hang out for our crew of 4 after a hard day in the field. Liked the funky shower/sink out in the backyard. "old-style stay at Volcano village" Place was comfortable enough for a couple nights stay. Reminded us of Hawaii in the 1950s---even has rotary phone in the hallway (but that's just decoration now).
