I have been meaning to write a fantastic review for this cabin but never got around to it. This is the second time our group stayed at the cabin and it did not dissappoint. We were so busy enjoying the surround sound music system inside and outside of the cabin, building our own fire in the fire pit, relaxing in the hot tub and ping ponging until 2, 3, 4AM each night. :) Only negatives to our stay was the lack of intact ping pong balls at the cabin and in stores around the Blueridge area (haha!). Also, comforters! It was quite chilly the first night and there were not enough comforters to accomodate 13 people, but we managed!!! Overall, our stay was fantastic, even better than the first time. The cabin has a great view of the mountains and the neighbors on Mt. Ridge road were very welcoming. Thank you Michele for accomodating us!!! I have referred 4 or 5 groups to stay at your lodge because I am confident they will have a blast!! Looking forward to seeing you early next year!!!!!!!!!

The view of the mountains was spectacular and the cabin was just what we needed! We listened to our favorite tunes along with listening to my son playing his clarinet, had a ping pong family competition, grilled out and than gathered around the firepit roasting marshmellows and sharing past memories of good as well as challenging times in our lives. We went on a hiking adventure to the swinging bridge, it was like walking through a forest that never ended with the sounds of rushing waterfalls. Downtown Blueridge had great restaurants especially if you enjoy BBQ (Blue Ridge Mountain BBQ) and the grocery stores were so convenient from our cabin. We now have vacationed at two of the owners vacation homes and hope to experience the third one!

My sister and I drove from the fast pace life of Jacksonville, Fl to the mountains to enjoy some r and r with no cell phones. We hiked, went shopping at the little shops in downtown BlueRidge and had a fabulous dinner at Toccoa River Resturant. We enjoyed the view of the mountains and the tranquility of the sunset while relaxing in the hottub! It was nice having the remote controlled Make sure you bring your favorite cd's to play with the surround sound stereo system. We will return soon with a larger group.

The cabin was wonderful. The owner even arranged to keep Christmas decorations for us since we were celebrating late. Everything was in good working order and generally clean.

We had a great time at Comanche Lodge. We took long walks outside of the cabin, cooked out and relaxed around the fireplace. We visited the Mercers apple orchard store and bought souvenirs for memories, enjoyed the apple cider and homemade pies for dessert. We rented movies during the rainy days. The LL Beanery restauarant is to die for. They serve homemade chicken salad, pasta salads, pies and much more. They do close early. I believe at 2pm so dont be late. Hope to return with more friends next year!

I took a few days off to get away from the stress of working in the medical field. I drove to Atlanta and found Comanche Lodge on the internet as a last minute get-a-way. The owner responded quickly and emailed the contract information the same day. It was sooo relaxing away from the city, I enjoyed the view and a lot of r and r! Just what I needed! Hope to return soon.

First, let me say the view and the cabin are beautiful. That being said, I think if you are considering this cabin, you need to know the following. Downstairs: *Couch was comfortable but in poor shape. Large tear. *TV was older and many of the channels were very fuzzy. *DVD player was broken but we managed to make it work. *No doors on the laundry room closet. (Really???) *There were lights out in almost every room. The back part of downstairs (4th bedroom-which is NOT a bedroom) was completely dark and the kids didn't want to play back there in the dark. Main floor: *Master bedroom on main floor's closet was completly filled with baby equiptment. Difficult to use the closet. *Comforter torn and leopard print didn't match theme of the room. Sheets didn't even match pillows. *Only a VCR and pirated movies that didn't play. *Lights burned out it bathroom. *Shower drain clogged so you took a bath/shower each time. *Leather couch was UNCOMFORTABLE! and the pillows of dogs playing poker had nothing to do with the theme of the cabin. *Bedroom fan DISGUSTINGLY COVERED in dust!!!! I saw this in a previous post and don't understand why it still hasn't been cleaned. *No measuring utensils, pots and pans were in TERRIBLE shape, and we were unable to even cook a grilled cheese without it burning. *Cannot run oven and stovetop at the same time. Oven will not heat. *Stairs were very rickety. Upstairs: *Bathroom cabinet door broken *Window in bedroom broken. *Burned out lightbulbs. *Ping Pong table was COMPLETELY BROKEN!!!! *Bedroom fan DISGUSTINGLY COVERED in dust!!!! I saw this in a previous post and don't understand why it still hasn't been cleaned. Outside: *I wish I would have taken a picture of the "playground." It was a JOKE! Slide broken off, swings 4 feet off the ground. When I mentioned it to Michelle she acted like she had no idea even though it was obvious that it had been broken for a while. *Hot tub had dirt in the bottom and looked dirty. We didn't even get in for fear of when it had last been cleaned. These are the things that I can think of now. The first time I talked with Michelle I was excited about our stay. The more I talked to her, the more I realized that what the previous posters talked about was completely true. I am not sure how she keeps in business. I am sure there are not many repeat visitors. We will NOT be back. There are tons of great cabins in Blue Ridge so think twice before renting this one!!!
Owner response:Please read my reponse: This group called me on arrival to tell me how nice the cabin was, about the broken slide and requested to stay an additional night, which I was already booked and had to decline. She never contacted me again until I discovered they had broken there contract rules and guidelines. This young lady was caught with multiple vehicles and numerous people that were not approved on our contract agreement. Instead of having this group escorted from the property for violating there contract I kindly asked this group to pay the additional dues for these additional friends by leaving the payment on the kitchen counter the day of departure. I trusted they would follow thru. Day of departure I made a call to this young lady asking where she left this additional rent/cleaning fee dues and she told me she would write a negative review if she had to pay for her friends. I expected payment and she wrote this poor review. The slide has been ordered, the ceiling fans needed a good cleaning and 7 lightbulbs were replaced out of 52. All else was not correct!

My family and I really enjoyed ourselves. Our biggest problem is always having enough beds for everyone without having to pay too much. Everyone had several choices on where they wanted to sleep. My sister-in-law said she loved sleeping on the bottom bunk. She said the matress was great and it was like being in her own little bear cave. The trundle beds tend to make noise when you turn over. They are a little better for kids than adults. And I would bring a few extra blankets or throws. It tends to be a little cold while watching TV downstairs. All in all, we had a fantastic time and will come back for sure.
Owner response:I have added 4 additional blankets. Thank You!

My family and I was "supposed" to stay at this property for Thanksgiving last week. Check in time was supposed to be 4pm. I received a call from the owner at 1:15pm on Wednesday, November 23 which was check in day stating that she had guests that left the day prior and she was still cleaning the property and what time was I going to arrive. I told her 5:30 PM. At 5PM I received another call from the property owner stating that she wasn't finished yet and if we could stall. We arrived anyway. Michele Kirk was not finished cleaning. Towels were on the floor and she was still vacuuming. After she left we realized that the televisions were working but there was no cable. You couldn't get a picture and there was no television in the upstairs bedroom. When we called Michele at 8PM she said that she was shocked and she would call the cable company and call us back. 2 hours later I had to call her back. To which then she said that the cable company didn't take out the right amount for her bill. And she would work on getting a technician out. 10:30 PM we called her back, she said that she was on the other line with the cable company and she would call back. She never called back. At 11pm, after going upstairs and finding bugs in the bed, 3 inches of dust on the ceiling fans and tv furniture and dirty towels in the bathrooms my family and I decided that we had to leave at midnight. Michele sent me a text (11:15PM) before we left saying that she would send a technician out tomorrow (which was thanksgiving day). I text her back saying nevermind that, we left because of the dirty conditions and that I would be contacting her regarding a refund. Thanksgiving morning Michele left me a voicemail saying that she didn't see any bugs in the mattress when she was there and if we really was unhappy about the cable situation that she would refund our entire amount. Since then I sent her 3 emails to find out when she would be sending the check and I have not received a response yet! I would NOT recommend this rental to anyone. My family and I thanksgiving holiday was RUINED!!! We had to travel in the middle of the night to go all the way back home. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! what a waste of an awesome view of the mountains.........

This was a wonderful house that provided the perfect setting for our family vacation. There was plenty of room for the eight of us! The kids had a wonderful time on the swings, we enjoyed the fire pit, and relaxed on the porch and enjoyed the view! It was our first time at Comanche Lodge and we truly hope that it is not our last! The owner was wonderful to work with! She was helpful and polite and we look forward to working with her again! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Comanche Lodge was THE perfect place for our family! We had such an amazing time. The owner, Michele, was very accessible and helpful. The wrap-around deck was one of my favorite spots to chill and enjoy the beautiful view, while our boys set up a week-long ping pong tournament, complete with pool play, a bracket, and a championship game. We have four boys ranging from 2 to 13 and not only did we have everything we needed (the toddler bed was a nice bonus), but also the upstairs playroom was so great for them to have some space! The cabin is so homey and clean and the bed in the main floor master bedroom is unbelievably comfortable. We had never been to Blue Ridge before and although we spent the majority of our time on the lake (the folks at the marina are super nice), we also really enjoyed the downtown area as well. We look forward to returning here and renting the Comanche Lodge again and again.

Overall, we had a great time at Comanche. There were plenty of activities to do in the surrounding area, such as white water rafting, tubing, scenic train ride, orchards, etc. The activities could not be beat! As far as our lodging, a few things to keep in mind was that the master bedroom and bath were on the main floor, so not very private or romantic. There was only the one bathroom on the main floor, which was attached to the master and saw heavy traffic during our stay. My husband and I ended up switching rooms on another floor to have more privacy. Also, upon arrival , we noted that the property had not been thoroughly cleaned and essential supplies not stocked (ex. toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, trash bags). I am not saying it was disgustingly dirty, but I did not expect to have to clean toilets on my vacation. Also, some of the items in the property seemed in sad repair, most notably in the kitchen. There were about 6 adults that took turns cooking and we were all in agreement that the condition of the pots, pans, baking ware, and dish towels were less than ideal (Luckily someone thought to bring a can opener). Lastly, the description of cabin states it has 4 bedrooms, but that is actually with the loft area, which I must have overlooked when I first found property. We were a little disappointed to realize that when we arrived, so just be aware. Other than that, the property was very nice, so if it were not for those few issues, I would be giving it five stars. The ping pong table and hot tub were used often! My one regret is that I didn't contact the owner immediately upon arrival about some of these issues. I did the day before we left and she was surprised about the condition of the cabin and told me I should have let her know immediately and she would have had her cleaning lady out there that same. My question is should I have had to call? Oh well, like I said overall our experience was very good. There were definately more good things than bad. I would just advise to contact the owner immediately upon arrival if any issues. Would I go there again? We would definately do Blue Ridge again! As far as Comanche Lodge, we kinda had a large gathering, so it felt a little cramp (Six adults and four children). We would probably find something a little larger next time to feel more spread out and have more privacy, especially the master bedroom. Sorry this review is long winded;hope it helps plan your vacation in Blue Ridge. Awesome time!

My friends and I stayed at this lovely cabin for a rafting trip this past weekend. We were very satisfied with our stay. The cabin is lovely, and the pictures really did not do it justice. We had a large group, but the cabin never felt crowded. We loved the surround sound throughout the house. The hot tub was very relaxing after a rafting trip. We enjoyed the fire pit at night. The view is breathtaking. Michele's direction and detail about the cabin made our trip easier. I highly recommend this cabin if you are city person that wanted to be in the great outdoors, yet still have luxury of wi-fi and city comfort.

When we arrived, all beds had used linens; there were no spare linens. Instead of what I planned to do I had to do laundry - after someone else! There was no toilet paper at all. No cleaning was done. Debris floating in moldy hot tub. Later it also turned out that tons of trash were left outside (because owner instructed to do so!) – a bear came, threw trash all over in front of the house. The most convenient sink and bath were clogged (but fixed by cleaning manager who came promptly after I called regarding the bear’s feast; trash was removed). When I called upon arrival, the owner sounded “surprised” that cleaning hadn't been done, blamed the cleaners, promised she'll pay me cleaning fee (we found from the cleaners that she didn’t arrange cleaning for our stay). That was April 24th. Today is August 3nd, and I still haven’t received that small cleaning fee (lower than listed). I had to go through the hassle of reminding her about that several times. At some point she said she mailed it on a certain day. Then she said she mailed it on a different day. That was clearly a lie. Then she said she will make a direct deposit to my bank. Instead, however, she attempted to send certified mail to my permanent address, being fully aware (we discussed it several times) that I’m not physically there currently and therefore unable to receive certified mail. I had to go through additional hassle discussing this situation with my relatives who never had problems receiving mail for me at that address before, and calling USPS twice (making sure that certified mail indeed requires my ID). I had to remind her again that I’m currently at a different address and that she promised a direct deposit. She hasn’t replied, and it’s been several weeks. I’m actually not surprised because she showed this tendency to disappear even before we booked (she knew we needed to be in touch regarding an important matter). Another inappropriate thing was: she gave us a price; then decided to increase it (she “realized” that she “invested in hot tub”, which we, by the way, didn’t plan to use and didn’t use)! I was shocked and started looking for other rentals; the only reason we ended up renting this one was that our rental choices were greatly limited (details would be too much for a review), so we took a risk here. I deeply regretted it, when next day after mailing a check to Michele I got a response from another owner that their property was also available - of equal quality but lower price!
Owner response:Here is feedback below that this renter emailed me after they vacationed in Comanche Lodge for 30 days that communiactes how satisified they were with there 5 week vacation stay. From: "Natalya: Couple Renting To: "Michele: Owner of Cabin Sent: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 8:50:15 PM Subject: Feedback on cabin Hi Michele, My mailing address is: Cant display. My in-laws deal with mail. However, mis-deliveries happen in NY, so consider a direct payment from bank to bank - it’s free, less work than mailing, and safer. All the sender needs to know is the recipient e-mail. I think most banks offer this option now. The cabin is stunnigly beautiful and was built with lots of attention to detail! For example, stairs to second floor and window frames are very special; We've never seen anything like that before. We loved the wood furniture and decor, of course. The only thing to improve: no towel bar to hang bath towels in basement or face towels on 2nd floor, and no hooks to hang clothes while in a shower (all 3). I would also add more hangers to closets. Did you know that a rabbit lives on this property? Its favorite spot is in front of basement door, and since my husband has been working in the basement, he has enjoyed seeing the rabbit every day! It was the first time that we've ever seen how a rabbit washes its face. Cute, cute, cute. You should advertise that the house comes with a rabbit and charge more money for that ;) Bears, on the other hand, may become dangerous if they learn to get food on people's territory. The views, the plants, and the animals are mesmerizing here. We are sad to leave and will miss the cabin and Blue Ridge! Thank you Michele! Here is my feedback from the negative review this couple wrote: I mailed the clean refund twice, 2nd time certified, now I have two lost checks. My Wells Fargo bank has never heard of providing an email address in order to transfer funds into a account. I gave this couple a 40% discount for there 5 week stay, what a deal! I tried to send the housekeeping crew of 3 to the cabin immediately upon arrival but they declined the service, they said they would take care of cleaning it themselves. Out of 12 vacation properties I have personally slipped up three times in 12 years w the cleaning not being complete upon arrival, we all make mistakes and I apologize but I do respond immediately to my vacationers with a quick solution!

The Comanche Lodge was everything I thought it would be in a cabin! When I was finally able to re-book, my stay was great! The cabin was peaceful and beautifully decorated. The seclusion was awesome & the view was great! The hottub was relaxing & I loved the kitchen. The cabin is well-equipped! Some things I would warn renters about..the 100's of lady bugs that come from the walls when the heat is used, the slow tub in master bdrm, & the cleaning crew/security that snoops to make sure occupancy is as states on the contract during the stay. Although, I wouldn't say that securing my stay & some of the surprises while there could have been handled a bit more professionally. I orginally reserved the Dream Catcher cabin for a birthday trip in Dec for 2 nights because this property was booked. I had no issues contacting Michele & getting a prompt response from her about the property when I was interested in booking..she even claimed to have "held back" another couple from renting @ that time until I could mail off my deposit. I had asked her about early check-in since I was coming from NC and she advised me to call the day before & see. Well when I spoke w/ Michele the day before my arrival, she asked me, "Oh, didn't you know, it snowed?" This info is given literally 24 hours before I'm supposed to leave for my b-day trip! Then she advised me that she would have her cleaning crew attempt to make it up the mountain and see if it was safe the day of our check in and call me back... (Maybe I expected to much, but if I owned a property and knew guest were coming from more than 5 hours away, I may want to give them a heads up on the treacherous weather that awaits them..especially going into the mountains..just as a courtesy!) So i'm out the 1st day of my rental & it's the morning of my birthday & I call Michele's cell. NO ANSWER..leave a message and wait about an hour..NO RESPONSE. Call her home, leave a meassage..NO RESPONSE. Michele finally called about 3 hours later and said that it was okay to come up the mountain, but by this time I would lose another day in travel so she offered me a free night in any of her 2 rentals, so of course I chose the Comanche. Fastforward to my attempt to book in Feb..I had to call Michele and leave numerous messages for several days to no avail. I got scared that I was going to be out of my $ and called VRBO.COM to see if they could contact her. Ironically she called while I was on the phone with them & "confirmed my reservations".
Owner response:First of all thank you for the nice compliment in regards to my vacation home, Im sure you did enjoy the stay! I know it was your birthday and I had a bottle of wine and a fruit basket awaiting your arrival. The weather is unpredictable and I can not control that. I contacted this couple 2 days before their departure and again the day before to notify them that the mountain would not be safe to drive up. Even with a 5 hour drive that was plenty of notice. It was safe 24 hrs later and I told them I would extend an extra night at no charge. They agreed and than called me that night and cancelled, she was upset with a family member issue and I felt horrible for her. I than told them I would upgrade them to my 3500 sq foot cabin Comanche Lodge at no extra charge. They rescheduled several months later and had a great time along with more friends than what the original contract stipulated. Other cabin rental companies would not had went the extra mile but again I own the cabins and the families renting from me are my top priority. Sincerely, Owner Comanche Lodge and Dream Catcher Cabin

Comanche Lodge was everything we thought it would be and more. It's a very peaceful place with beautiful decorations and plenty of room for our entire family. The view is magnificent on all levels and the hot tub was wonderful and very easy to operate. The owner left very helpful info about the area and a grocery discount card for our use which was a nice touch. The cabin (actually large house) was very clean with plenty of supplies and appliances for our use. We had a little difficulty understanding how to light the gas logs and the maintenance man came out promptly and demonstrated this for us. The place is not very far from Blue Ridge, very convenient to everything but we felt as though we were "out in the woods" away from everything. We enjoyed the fire pit and the view from there is beautiful ! Materials were provided for a fire and this was very helpful as well. We hope to return again very soon ! Thank you Michele for a wonderful vacation !

A big THANK YOU to the owner, Michelle! You made our visit much easier and more enjoyable by providing us with so much information about the area before we got there so we could research and get our trip planned. Very courteous too! Your home is beautiful, and the location is so close to town, but we always felt like we were so far away!!! Blue Ridge is a great town! Great restaurants, shops and the train was so much fun!!!! We will definately be calling you again and making plans to stay at your rental!

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful home. It was very clean and the decor was very cabin chic. It included everything we needed for our stay. My favorite place was the deck where we could see the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and being able to watch the kids play outside. The kids enjoyed the firepit, pingpong table and haveing a big screen T.V. in the basement just for them. We took beautiful walks through the mountains and went into the town of Blue Ridge. It is so quaint and has a lot of great places to eat. We will definitely be going back soon.

The rental home was exactly as the description. Very clean, plenty of room. The only thing I would recommend is to bring your on sheets and blankets. There were not enough sheets for all of the beds. The blankets that were provided were a little too heavy for me. Other wise it was a very lovely and comfortable home.
Owner response:Purchased 4 extra sets of sheets and 4 thin blankets. Thank you for the feedback and for renting our family vacation home! Sincerely, Michele Kirk Owner
