And our reviews from past guests surely indicate that we are meeting and hopefully, exceeding their expectations. Now with the 2014 season behind us, friends and family are now looking towards booking that perfect vacation home for 2015. So this is a great time of the year to find that perfect retreat. Last year we added new deck furniture and outdoor dining table and chairs to enjoy the many views over the lake and bluffs.
Lake Cumberland is now at the peak water elevation of 720 feet and is expected to stay there according to the Corp of Army Engineers. So the unobstructed views of the lake from Look-Out Lodge are absolutely stupendous.
Look-Out Lodge has a total of 5 bedrooms; 4 1/2 bathrooms; 2 kitchens; great room and dining room on the main floor (3rd floor); a second living room & dining room on the 2nd floor as well as the recreation and game room on the 1st floor. For reservations for 8 persons or less we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms without the additional living space or recreation room. Be sure to call or e-mail us about these reduced rates, as they are not published.
In 2013 we re-decorated the first floor game and recreation room and up-dated the flooring with full 18 x 18 tile and accent area rugs. The circular drive way has also been tiled to give it a great formal curb appeal. Most of our returning guests have really enjoyed the upgrades and the additions. But if you don't need all 5,000 + square feet of indoor space, we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms at a reduced rate. However, this does not include the game and recreation room at those rates. Just e-mail or calls for these rates. Please note that we have a limit of 12-guests in total. This includes ALL children.
This is a four story log and stone home which has a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard on the bottom level facing the lake with another private tiled patio with outdoor dining table and four dining swivel chairs with accessed through the recreation room or by outdoor stairs case. The lake views from this patio are also breath taking.
The lodge is fully equipped with more than the average rental property because it is also the owners second home. The owners have decorated each of the many rooms individually with fine detail to give a unique perspective to this log home. Each year there are new features added to the lodge that repeat house guests will notice. The views of the lake and the surrounding vistas from the lodge will keep you outside more than inside. Not seen at any other rental cabins, this property has outdoor dining tables and chairs on each of the wrap around porches. There is additional casual seating all around the two decks consisting of rocking chairs and two double seated gliders located on the front porch as your guests arrive. We also have a double person hammock on a Viking stand on the main deck that has been a real hit with our guests.
The recreation and game room is very well appointed. This is a 750 square foot room with 12 foot tall ceiling which is accented with 12 inch crown molding throughout and two picture windows facing Lake Cumberland. The game room is equipped with a pool table; professional ping pong; 7 foot air hockey table; professional darts; foosball and lounge area with pit group; coffee table with a 42 inch wall mounted LED flat screen 'Smart' TV (WIFI included). This recreation room leads to the out-door patio area which has a 4 person outdoor dining table and swivel chairs which also faces the lake. Note: The recreation room is only available to a full house rental.
Look Out Lodge was constructed in January of 2007 by the current owners which is a full log home with stone accents on the exterior and a 27 foot tall stone wood burning fireplace in the Great Room. This property is located in a private gated community with paved streets and underground utilities surrounded by woods on one side and Lake Cumberland on the other. Look Out Lodge sits high on a bluff in the back end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks Lake Cumberland on the Wolf Creek section adjacent to where the original Alligator I Marina was located and across from Jabez Beach. This is the only home on this cul-de-sac which gives you complete privacy and seclusion, not to mention unlimited parking. The lodge also has a drive down and circular tiled drive-way and paver designed entrance, giving you a truly beautiful curb side appeal as you or your guests arrive. I promise, you will not be disappointed as you arrive.

This property is located within a gated community with paved roads and underground utilities. It's the perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes without the parents having to constantly supervise them. Since there is little, if no traffic within the community and the speed limit is 15 MPH there is little to worry about as they discover nature and the beauty of this community. And it's just perfect for that walk with the family before or after a meal.

About the owner: We actually live in South Florida, but fell in love with Lake Cumberland, which is why we decided to build this lodge. We just love the changing of the seasons and we come up any time we get a chance. In the morning, just sitting on the deck having coffee and watch the morning fog roll in makes all worth while. Although we do love our winters in south Florida, we still have not gotten use to the winters in Kentucky.

We built this custom lodge because of the spectacular unobstructed views of the lake and the security and seclusion in this private gated community. Plus this has one, if not the best, lake views of all the homes lots in this community. No need to crane your head to see the lake through the forest. It's right there in front of you.
