Great view, Totally Enjoyable!
Great view, Totally Enjoyable!
I think this is a great deal for the location- at the very top floor of the Waikiki Banyan, facing the ocean! 1) Arrival: The front desk will offer some help in telling you how to get to the room and where to park, but because this is an owned property, they won't lend out dollys or have much to do in the way of offering help. That's okay, though. We let Zach know that we were going to be getting there pretty late, so in case you're in the same boat as us: things to know- the entrance to the parking lot structure is around the side of the main entrance. There is a free 4 hour visitor parking area (in the parking structure) that you can ask the parking attendant to direct you to. I would park there, then go to your room to pick up your parking permit (if you choose to park at the Banyan). Zach will give you the code to get into the room. The keys include the door key and the parking structure key (which lets you access the hotel directly from the level of the parking structure you're at- so if you're at parking level 3, you can enter the hotel at level 3). I didn't realize this at first, so I had to walk all the way back down to ground level to access the main elevator lobby, dodging a few cars in the process. The room: Pretty much as the pictures show! There's a full kitchen, large tv, and balcony. The floor is white carpet, hence you will see some stains, but that was fine. We laid an extra bedsheet that was provided so our 7 month old could play on it. There is a bedroom in a connected but separate section to the main living area, separated by 3 sliding doors. This was a godsend, as we were able to put our baby in a pack and play in the main area and my wife and I could be in the bedroom. Which actually has 2 queen-sized beds. Larger than I expected! The shower was a bit weak, but maybe it's because we were on the top floor. Everything - the sink, toilet, shower, was Kohler brand- meaning pretty good quality. It's best to let Zach know of any issues early on. I asked him for a late checkout the night before we left, and he didn't get back to me-- understandably, as it was late and last minute. But just to let people know you should let him know earlier than later. People talk about the A/C leaking water onto the balcony. It's really not bad. If you're running it non-stop 24/7 you'll get more water, but that's physics for you. The view: There is a building directly in front of you but it doesn't cut out the great beach view on the sides.

was a really nice place to stay for our first visit. the inside was descant and clean. the washer and dryer are coin operated, but we didn't mind. The view from the balcony was amazing! had really good underground parking. We were only 2 blocks from the beach, which was awesome! In walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. The zoo and aquarium were in walking distance. Zach was helpful in answering our questions. we would recommend going to a couple restaurants called "Egg and things" and "Hula Grill" awesome food.

4 nights in Hawaii

This property was exactly as described in the advertisement. It has a fabulous view and is very close to the beach, shops, restaurants and a golf course. The property was clean and tidy. The only reason I didn't rate the property 5 star is that there is no storage facility for your luggage if required on the day of checkout. I tried to contact the owner for a late checkout but my emails were not responded to.

My dealings with Zach were really great, he answered all my questions in a quick response time and friendly nature. The room was great, very clean and tidy, ample towels and fully stocked kitchen. I would say there is a little too much furniture in the lounge (for our liking - 3 adults) which made the area smaller. Also the beds were described as Queen size, but are only Double in Australian sizing. The air conditioner did also leak on the balcony which caused a slip hazard. We did try turning the air con up to warmer, but the room would just get too hot to be bearable so just put up with the puddle. Great location, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk everywhere. Overall the room and Zach were great and would recommend staying here!!!

A lot of confussion and issues
A lot of confussion and issues
Due to issues with owners pay pal, we were not able to pay for our parking until 5am on day of trip for 3pm check in.When we got to rental, pass could not be found. Owner did not answer phone or return call for at least an hour and finally advised of where the pass was in the condo (it was quite literally hidden). We had to pay 15.00 to park our first day due to owner not readily calling us back.We found the unit did not have a dishwasher as listed, and the washer/dryer was coin operated down the hall. There was an iron but no ironing board.Air unit dripped water on back patio entire visit. We notified owner immediately who said might be problem w/unit&they would get back with me.We were told that he would check with cleaning lady@board but never heard another word.Day before we left, we were stopped by security and our parking pass we paid for was taken because it had been reported stolen by the owner in 04/13 for a completely different unit owned by the same owner. The building wasn't going to let us even park our rental there but after us begging management, they did let us pay another 15.00 to park for the day.Owner did not call us back for at least 1 1/2 hours and said that it was a mistake on behalf of the office and that either way he or they would reimburse.Never heard another word about reimbursement. The unit does have a nice view but the carpeting which is white, was very dirty. The rest of the unit was clean and furniture was comfortable. A lot of towels (both bath and at least two beach) were provided. There was only a roll and a half toilet paper for a week and no paper towels in the kitchen. The wireless is not password protected in unit.Short walk to beach and the unit did have two beach chairs which were very nice as well as a cooler and play toys for the beach if you have kids.

Owner response: I feel terrible that this guest felt like there was any confusion or issues. We pride our selves on customer service. We are often told that we have the quickest response time to both inquires and concerns. The guests didn't request parking with their booking and had added it the day before their arrival. This can be challenging as the passes get booked by other guests if not done in advance. We made a considerable effort to secure them a pass with the last minute request and were able to. The payment request went out to them immediately and we didn't experience any trouble with Pay Pal as they described. So I am unsure how to address that. The check in time is at 3 pm but the guests tried to check in early without notifying me. When checking in I guide guests through the process and provide the parking pass. Since they were early without clearing it with us our normal procedure didn't happen. As soon as I got their message which was one hour after they called I walked them through everything. All the washer and dryers in the building are in laundry rooms on each floor and they are coin operated. Our AC contractor came out and checked the AC while the guests were in the suite and they said that it was just condensation from a combination of high use and humidity at the time. The only thing that could be done to limit the condensation was to run the AC on a lower setting and for the humidity to become lower with a change in the weather. The issue with the parking pass as I am told by security was that the guests upon entering the garage gave the wrong suite number that didn't coincide with the pass so they were stopped. Once I was notified I called the management office and let them know that they were are guests and they said they were reimbursing the guests for the parking for that day. I hope these guests look past any confusion they felt and stay with us again in the future.
The place was exactly as described on the website. It was nice and had a full kitchen with utensils etc. However, we had quiet the scare as the combo lock given to us was not correct. It took a bit of effort to contact the property manager in order to gain access into the suite. All in all, I would recommend and stay at this place again.

Owner response: The combo had been changed for security reasons and the updated code was emailed to the guest prior to their arrival. However the guest only had brought the code on the original rental agreement assuming they were the same and not the updated one. As soon as we received the call from the guest we guided them through getting in with the updated combo. Security and customer service is our top priority. We are glad that they enjoyed their stay and hope to see them back soon.
Good view, Good location , Good renter, Zach the owner is organised and the penthouse is fun to stay in. Forget street parking. This building has underground parking and security guards so it is easy to load and unload the car or suv. This location makes it easy to get to the shopping or on the freeway to the beaches. Waikiki beach is ok but the rest of the island is where you want to go and easy. This unit is not new but the kitchen was clean and it is on the top floor 38 so it was fun in the elevator if someone pushes the button for you and asks what floor are you on. The reaction we got was " oh, you are in a penthouse" most times. More private than a hotel, quieter, and a lot cheaper. Yes the bathroom is small and the carpet was needing a shampoo, whatever. If you want to sit by the pool and have a waiter bring you a drink go to a hotel and enjoy the kids crying and parents yelling at them. We swam with turtles and watched the best surfers in the world at sunset beach ride 10 footers and ate like locals. With the money we saved we flew to Maui for 60 bucks each and stayed another week !

The view here is amazing. It is breathtaking. We always love the Banyan. Everything was great. We had to buy a grater and a blender but other wise everything we needed was there. I would recommend this rental. The owner was helpful. Anyone who would take this should love it.

This penthouse suite was everything it was advertised to be. The view was amazing, the kitchen was fully stocked and the owner was exceptional to deal with. The wi fi worked better than if i was at home!!It also came with beach chairs, mats and sand toys which was perfect for our 3 young kids. The hotel itself was fantastic...it was our 2nd time staying at the Banyan and 1st time in this condo and we will definately be back!

Great stay at the Banyan!
Great stay at the Banyan!
This condo was beautifully decorated and in a great location. The view is just fantastic. The condo had all the amenities necessary for a great time. There were ample kitchen utensils, shower and beach towels and all other things necessary for a comfortable and convenient stay. The building is really nice and has a large pool/hot tubs. Also, located in the building is a cafe and connivence store. The beach was only a block away. We had a great time and if returning to Waikiki we will stay in this condo again.
