We invite you to stay at this beautiful cabin located only 20 minutes from the West Gate of Yellowstone National Park. If you are looking to get away from the stress of everyday life then come and relax at 'The Shoshone Retreat'.
The cabin has three bedrooms and two full baths. It is beautifully decorated and is well equipped with all of your bedding and kitchen needs. The cabin has an open floor plan with the kitchen at the center. It is located on a quite dead end street.
On a cool night you can enjoy the river rock gas fireplace indoors or roast marshmellows on the outdoor firepit. The cabin also has a 42' Plasma TV (no satallite TV, used just for watching DVD's) and DVD player. There is Satallite TV and wireless internet available at the club house. We get excellent cell phone reception.
The cabin has a gas grill perfect for grilling up the fish you just caught or a nice thick steak. Also with an additional charge enjoy the amenities at Island Park Village Resort which includes and indoor pool and 9 hole golf course.
Island Park Idaho is know for world class fishing. Some have called this area the snowmobile capital of the world. Just outside the cabin door you will have access to snowmobile and ATV trail system. This area is truly and extension of Yellowstone. No matter how many times we visit this area we never get tired of going back

Location is (nearly) everything. This was our first visit to Island Park, and we didn’t realize how big this area is and how long it can take to get between two places that don’t look all that far apart on a map. Our family of six was planning to visit Yellowstone during several of the days of our visit, and the location of the Shoshone Retreat cabin proved perfect. The cabin is in a development right off Highway 20, making the trek to Yellowstone an easy 25 minutes or so. We were able to wake up early several mornings (but not too early!), eat breakfast and get to Yellowstone long before the crowds showed up. Many other rentals that we considered around Island Park Reservoir or Henrys Lake would have increased the commute to Yellowstone considerably. Shoshone Retreat is also close to all that Island Park has to offer. We spent several days geocaching and exploring the area. The cabin itself is new, clean, and accommodated our family of six comfortably. The vaulted ceiling and open layout of the cabin make its smaller size still feel very spacious. The lack of TV reception and internet access at the cabin was a little bit of an inconvenience for our family, but free WiFi access was available at the office at the entrance to the development, so we were able to keep up with e-mail at least daily. We have fallen in love with the sheer beauty of the area and will likely return soon to continue exploring.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We advertise that there is a nice plasma TV for the use of DVD movies only, no satellite TV and that there is satellite TV and wireless internet at the club house. But few people tend to forget that once they get to the cabin. We love feedback and always go to great lengths to accommodate and make improvements to provide guest with the best possible stay. Our peak season is the summer months and paying for Dish for 9 months it is not occupied, is just not economical. Most people after a long day in the park are just happy renting a movie from the village or settling down with a quiet place to read a book. My husband has gone over to club house to catch a game while our family takes a dip in the pool. Which has worked out nicely.

The retreat was very comfortable. Everything you would need in the kitchen was available, except perhaps some wine glasses and a corkscrew. The matreses were excellent. The sheets and towels were luscious. Even though there were neighbors, the setting was woodsy. I would recommend others to stay here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

was very easy to find from the directions provided. the cabin well maintained. very clean.if i go back again, i would want to stay at this cabin.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
