Tomahawk house description
'The Cabin' is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home situated on the beautiful Wisconsin River between Tomahawk and Merrill, WI. This region is a true treasure, providing sights and sounds of nature that you'll never forget. Remarkably, this area is beautiful, whether rain-or-shine, snow-or leaves.
There's nothing like being able to enjoy the river from early morning when the wild life is most active, into mid-day when boaters and swimmers (or ice fisher-people, snowmobilers and sledders!) are out and about, right on through the sunset to a truly star-filled sky. Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers are perfect candidates as vacationers here. Active families as well as small groups of hunters, anglers, Fall Riders or 'girls-weekenders' looking for a true getaway will certainly enjoy the area.
Meal times are easy with a large open kitchen for cooking, tons of utensils, cook ware and dish sets, as well as two charcoal grills. Once you've filled up on your 'catch of the day' or 'bounty from your hunt' (or whatever you picked up at the grocery store!) put the dishes in the dishwasher, toss the beach towels, hunting gear or winter-wear in the washer & and dryer, fill your glass with ice from the ice maker in the fridge, and relax on big puffy sofas, love seats or recliners inside, or the deck/or patio furniture outside.
Our walk-out ranch has a patio with a small dining table on the ground level and a large deck off of the kitchen on the main level with a large table and chairs. We also have a portable hammock and a large bench swing with cushions near the water.
When it's finally time for sleep, choose one of the two bedrooms upstairs (main w/king bed, kids' room with bunks) or the two downstairs (one full bed, one queen bed). Each level has its own bath; upstairs has a large tile shower and corner whirlpool tub and lower has a large tile shower, over-sized vanity & mirror.

We are a crew of 5 men doing work in the Tomahawk area for approx. 8 days- stayed 2 different times within 2 week period and found the cabin perfect for us. Logistics, beds, rooms, River! (a little fishing), beautiful fall scenery, kitchen, 2 baths, towels, bedding. Everything we could need or want was there. Normally we stay in a hotel and are ok with that, but this was really nice. thank you so much.

Owner response: Dear Dennis, Thank you so much for your review! We try to make The Cabin as comfy and functional as possible for all of our guests. It was a pleasure to have you! Dawn Weinfurtner The Wisconsin River Cabin
The WI River Cabin was a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy the beautiful summer in WI! We had a very relaxing stay and the owners (I was in contact with Dawn) were awesome! She answered all my questions promptly and made sure we were set to go. We couldn't have asked for a better place to join up with friends and attend a wedding. One thing to note - bring earplugs - the neighbors dogs can get a little noisy in the early morning hours, but earplugs do the trick! When we're in the area again, we'll definitely check to see if the Cabin is available!

Owner response: Hello Leah, Thank you so very much for your review! I try to be very prompt in getting back to everyone with answers to questions and details on the property itself as well as how to book, directions to The Cabin, etc. It is true that the neighbors dogs can bark at times. It's part of the culture there, I guess you would say. We have been blessed with abundant wildlife in Lincoln County, including black bear. The neighbor uses the dogs for hunting. He actually offers a guide service if ever you are interested in going on a bear hunt! Please feel free to contact us about a future stay. It was a true pleasure having you! Second Stay at this Property and Never Disappointing. Love it!
Second Stay at this Property and Never Disappointing. Love it!
This was our second stay here. Everything in this listing is as described. The property is clean and well-maintained and the owners are wonderful...helpful with any questions and very welcoming. I highly recommend this. The big draw of this property for us was being right on the river. Because everything about this property is so perfect makes it easy to overlook the neighbor's noisy dog.

Owner response: Thank you very much for the highly complimentary review! Have a great remainder of your summer, and I hope that you choose The Cabin again for future getaways!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were extremely helpful and flexible, and the property was in perfect condition. The weather was absolutely terrible, so we were extremely limited in what we could do out-of-doors, but we enjoyed family fun anyway, in the comfy house. There is only seating at the kitchen island for four people, so that was a drawback at mealtimes for our big group, considering we couldn't use the outdoor patio furniture for meals, due to excessive rain. But we made the best of it. I would definitely recommend place this for a small to medium size group. SUPER price, with all the amenites of home...and more!

Owner response: Dear John, Thank you very much for your review! We try to make the cabin as comfy and functional for all of our guests as possible. We have since purchased more stools for at the island in the kitchen. There is indeed outdoor dining for eight, but when it's raining or snowing, you of course cannot sit out there. It is my hope that you will contact us for future stays. It was a pleasure having you! Dawn Weinfurtner The Wisconsin River Cabin

About the owner: We grew up in Central WI near the Wisconsin river and missed being away from it. There's always some draw that a river has once you've been around it that makes you want to go back. This property and section of the river itself suits ALL of our outdoor interests very well, yet accommodates those days when we want to slow down a bit and perhaps watch our favorite team on TV (GO Packers!), play games, have a movie night, or read books.
Why the Owner Chose Tomahawk:
We were looking for a permanent vacation home that would bring us back to our roots. When this property turned up we couldn't pass it by. The initial hook was the view of the river from the house. In the 7.5 years we've owned the cabin, our family, friends and neighbors have put in countless hours remodeling the home 'from stem to stern', making for a beautiful, cozy, functional year-round vacation home.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Year-round outdoor sports and recreation. Terrific views of wildlife and nature. Quiet, calm, peaceful. True natural beauty that is captivating in it's slow but ever-changing pace.
