This is a great location in the Rio Grande Vally with the beach just across the causeway(Bridge) yet you are out of the heavy traffic of the beach. You have fishing just minutes away, both charter boats or just go down and surf fish. The beach on the north end of the island is accessable and beatiful with some really great shelling. The swimmimg and surfing is great at the beach with white sand beaches on the Gulf Side of the Island. The Laguns side of the Island is famous for wind surfing and ppara sailing. Horse back riding is available on the Island as well as beach buggies for rent. It is a great time for the whole family.
Golf available at greatly reduced fees on a professional course.

Great place; near the beach, but away from all of the commotion. Beautiful golf course with very reasonable rates. We would stay here again if available.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Having never been to the Gulf of Mexico the family was a bit nervous to try here rather than the Southern California area. What a pleasant surprise. South Padre Island is a tropical paradise. Sugar beaches with vehicle access. Blue-green waters with a heavy breeze that kept all the flying insects away. Superb family beach even in high season. Monday through Friday afternoon it is uncrowded and easy to enjoy the water-park, boat rides and this "kite surfing" that it is world famous for. Great food at Blackbeard's, Friday fireworks from Louie's pier. The town of Brownsville has one of the best Zoo's we have ever been to. 8 dollars and give yourself a full half day. There is some good antique shopping in historic Brownsville downtown when you finish up at the Zoo. Take your Pass Port and go to the Mexican side for some souvenir shopping. One warning though for those with children. Be sure to caution the kids about Pirates and Dolphins during the day and those Hermit crabs running on the beach at night. (Be sure to take a flashlight) The condo is a near new duplex unit in a top drawer golf course. Heated pools, clubhouse with wi-fi,tennis, tended lawns and a great security team keep it safe for children. Two bedrooms, master with private bath and a second bath for the rest. Comfortable bedding, not stained or worn out, good kitchen set up and a garage with washer/dryer. A very comfortable residence in an excellent area and it is immaculately maintained inside and out. The owner was great in all communications. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to relax, get some sun and fun in at a family beach.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. Come again. Your the best.
