Sandy Beach Just Steps from Your Front Door at Kye Bay

Kye Bay Resort has offered seashore family holidays for over 70 years. Our sandy beach and low summer tides make this a perfect destination for mom and dad to relax while the kids play in the sand, build a driftwood fort, or paddle in lukewarm water as the tide comes up over sandbars heated by the summer sun. Bring Grandma and Grandpa along to watch the activity from their quiet private deck!
Our "Captain's Suite" single bedroom panabode cottage was built in the '50s as a guest suite to the neighbouring lodge. The quaintness of the original cedar cottage still exists, while some more modern features, like microwave cooking and memory foam bedding, ensure comfort and relaxation for your visit nowadays. The 3 piece bathroom includes a cubicle shower with a plentiful supply of hot water.
Summer stays at Kye Bay are generally booked from Saturday to Saturday. Your stay includes a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning, where you will meet some of the folks who will be neighbours for the week, an optional Pot Luck supper mid-week (which offers a super variety of seafood and family favourite meals and desserts!) and a lovely "Tea By The Sea" on Friday afternoon, a tradition which has been in place since the original owners offered tea and goodies at the lodge in the '30s.
Your cottage is fully furnished and has all kitchen amenities. The queen sized bed has been raised to a level allowing you to wake up to a view of the ocean, where bald eagles, great blue herons and our bountiful flocks of local gulls are busy starting their day. An electric fireplace in the corner will take off the chill on cooler mornings--or after a swim in the Bay!
Some of our guests never leave the property! With over 2 kilometers of sandy beach to wander along, a 2 km spit heading out into the ocean at low tide, and plenty of beach chairs on the property, there's no reason to go any further. Within easy driving distance (or a bike ride for the hearty) you can find world class golfing, local history museums including the Air Force museum at CFB Comox and the fascinating Maritime Museum at Campbell River, and lots of local crafts, coffee and ice cream, gift and fashion shops. There's a fresh farm market just at the top of the hill, and daily seafood from the fishing boats at the Comox Harbour--or head to one of the growing number of restaurants featuring homegrown foods and chef inspired menus. Hikers will have an awesome alpine experience just 25 minutes away at Strathcona Park (or ski Mt. Washington if you are here when the snow is!) and mountain bikers have endless miles of trails in the region to offer any level of challenge.
To learn more about our little resort, see availability and rates, or learn about some of the other cottages on the property, please look for us on the web. Our summer rentals are generally done by the week; we offer winter occupancy by the day, week, or month. It's a great place to "practise" if you are thinking of moving to the Comox Valley--try us out for a few months in the off season. Chances are you'll stay for years!

My family of 4 stayed here for the first time this past summer. We spent a week and had so much fun that we only left the property once and that was to get groceries. The cabins were a lot bigger than I had expected and had amazing views. The beach is steps away and has by far the warmest waters in this area. There is so much to explore, especially when the tide goes out (way out). We were treated like family and made many new friends. I can't say enough good things about this place....the kids can't wait to return.Recommended for: Families with young children.

My family and I had a great time while staying at the Kye Bay Resort. Everything we needed to make us comfortable was available, even beach toys for my 2 1/2 yr. grandson, not to mention Joey whom my grandchildren adored! The lovely gal that manages the Resort was great from the time of arrival right up to the time we left. Thank you to the owner for making it possible for us to share in your little piece of Heaven.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We first happened upon Kye Bay in 1992 when our kids were 5 and 8. What brought us back? ... the sun warmed sand at low tide, the fellowship (many families return the same week year after year so they became our holiday friends), the calmness, the cedar scent of the pan abode cabins, the long beach walks, the great seafood ... I guess all of that, and more. I can honestly say that some family representative has been back to Kye Bay at least once every year since that first summer. Our kids left Alberta for university on the Island and have both graduated. As I recently sorted through old boxes of school memories, I came across countless stories written over the years detailing favorite memories or special times in their lives. It was only then that I realized the impact of our annual family adventure across the mountains to Kye Bay. It came up in the first paragraph of many reflections chronicling their young lives. We are so happy to have those shared memories, and we look forward to more good times at Kye Bay. Maybe with the grand kids? :)Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Jane, it is so nice to hear from people that love Kye Bay as much as we do. Sooo many memories and dreams are started at Kye Bay. There is something to be said about the "Magic of Kye Bay". Cheers Roz
