peaceful place to unplug
peaceful place to unplug
We came to stay with our two 15 year old boys, who decided to go to Ohiopyle instead of Kings Island, so we had a lot of expectation with this trip. This cabin lived up to all of them! We were nervous when we arrived late in the evening with no electricity due to a storm....which quickly returned after about an hour after of our arrival. Saturday evening the boys even swam in the water behind the cabin and skipped rocks while my husband and I sat by the fire pit. My only complaint would be to put a shovel by the fire pit to shovel the ash out, but other than that we LOVED it! We loved finding the covered bridge, but couldn't find the waterfall, maybe next time.

This little cottage has a lot of potential in a beautiful location. The stream behind the house is beautiful as well as the general area (Forbes State Forest). The bathroom and main bedroom seemed pretty clean. Some of the furnishings in the living room could have used some frreshening up. The kitchen likewise needs some updating/cleaning. With those updates, this would be a true gem. Please note that this is a good 20-25 minutes from Ohiopyle State Park. Mill Shoppes Pizza in nearby Rockwood (about 15 minutes away) is very good if you don't feel like cooking.

This cabin was the perfect little place for our family. We have 2 kiddos ages 6 and 4. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The state forest area was wonderful. We fished in the creek behind the cabin as well as Blue Hole, which was a neat little hole in one of the creeks. My husband was so excited to catch native brook trout. That particular state forest area is named for that hole. We did some hiking and exploring as well. The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable.

Cute and Cozy
Cute and Cozy
It was cute little cabin, just the right size. We loved relaxing and being nice and cozy in front of the fireplace. It was great to not have to worry about firewood or cooking outside. I would highly recommend something to be done about water pressure and maybe a gas grill for cooking outdoors. Thank you for the directions to areas close by. Perfect location to getting to different places we wanted to visit.

We recently stayed at "Your Quiet Getaway". The location is lovely! The kids especially enjoyed exploring around the banks of the stream at the back of the property. It was evident that the owners read and responded to the previous review as there were plenty of towels in the cabin. There were other items that we found helpful -- extra blankets, disposable bathroom cups, dish soap, a few condiments in the refrigerator, matches, and even cooking spray (which we had forgotten). We found the cabin to be well-maintained. As a matter of fact, our daughter is very allergic to anything moldy, dusty, or musty and she had absolutely NO symptoms during our entire stay!! (Believe me, that is saying something!!) Also, it appears that the bathroom has been recently renovated -- the fiberglass shower stall and other fixtures are VERY clean!! From the website's picture, there doesn't appear to be a rail for the top bunk, but it may be helpful to know that there is one!! We highly recommend staying at "Your Quiet Getaway"!!!!

Very Rustic Cabin in Terrific Location
Very Rustic Cabin in Terrific Location
This cabin could not be in a more picturesque location. The stream at the back of the property is lovely and the walk to the covered bridge and the hike to the waterfall are wonderful. The owner has a fishing pool with some fly lures and we fished and caught some pan fish while we were there. We through them back but the fishing is fun. The cabin itself is rustic and quaint but inside the furniture, carpet, appliances, linens, windows and walls appear as though they could use some freshening up. A new coat of paint, some new pots and pans, some new towels, new carpeting, and new covers for the old futon and arm chair would go a very long way to making the cabin much better. There is no TV, internet or cell phone reception in this area or at the cabin so come prepared to relax, kick back, read a good book and take a hike. The DVD and CD player work but you may need to put batteries in the remotes and then fiddle with the tracking (remember DVD machine tracking... I had forgotten but we got it working). There are many DVDs to choose from, some really old but the kids had fun choosing from the pile. Bring paper towels or your own dish towels and bring pot holders as there are none in the cabin. Plan to bring enough towels for bathing and swimming as there are very few in the cabin. There is no washer, dryer or clothes line so plan accordingly. If you are picky about the types of pots and pans that you use, you may want to bring them with you. The frying pan teflon is gone but luckily we had a cast iron skillet for pancakes and biscuits which saved the day. We enjoyed our stay at this picturesque place. With a little TLC this cabin would get five stars easily.
