BMH is the perfect getaway! So close to town, yet secluded enough to feel far away. Black Mountain has so much to offer in terms of dining, shopping, sightseeing, or just plain relaxing. Rocking on the porch any time of day at BMH is the best; looking at the mountains, hearing & seeing all the wonderful songbirds, and remembering how wonderful life can be. Donna and Jerry provide everything you might need at the cabin, and were gracious enough even to answer some questions we had on Memorial Day morning. BMH will definitely be on our agenda for future trips to the area. Thank you again, Donna & Jerry!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sue and Jim, thank you so much for the kind comments you've made about Black Mountain Hideaway and about the town of Black Mountain. You seem to have the same fondness for the area as Gerry and I do. We also hope to live there one day. We do hope that you will visit BMH again in the future, and good luck with your future retirement plans. Best Regards, ~Donna and Gerry

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend at the Hideaway. The house is decorated to perfection for a mountain cabin and also recommend My Fathers Pizza and Ole' Guacamole. The residents of Black Mountain were very friendly and welcome visitors. The downtown shops were awesome, so many things that were purchased were made local which will always be a special keepsake. If you have have a chance, please rent this beautiful hideway in the woods, you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Peggy, I'm so happy to hear that you and your husband enjoyed our cabin and the Black Mountain area so much. Thank you for the nice things you had to say. It always feels wonderful to hear that our guests are enjoying their stay. You are welcome to visit us again anytime. Sincerely, Donna and Gerry

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a short two night vacation. Everything was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the fireplace inside and fire pit in the back as well. The quick drive to downtown Ashville was very pretty, we made a few trips there during our stay. Highly recommend, just wished we could have stayed longer!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much, Kaylan, for the very nice things you said in your review. Our reviews are very important to us and to our reputation, and yours was so complimentary. We really appreciate it, and hope you will visit us again in the future. ~Gerry and Donna

We had a fantastic weekend vacation at this lovely cabin in Black Mountain. This cabin was easy to find, close to everything, yet far enough away to feel secluded. Beautiful mountain views from the deck were quite a treat. This cabin had everything required for a carefree vacation and was incredibly clean and well maintained! We will definitely be visiting again!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you. So happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our cabin. It sounds like you found many fun things to do in Black Mountain area. There are so many more things to see and do. We hope you will join us again soon. Thanks again, Donna and Gerry

Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us. We had a fabulous time. The cabin was enjoyable, clean and fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. We loved that we were able to bring our dog. She loved curling up on her bed by the fireplace. My husband and I built a roaring fire in the fire pit, enjoyed soaking in the luxurious hot tub, and relaxed in front of the fire watching TV. We were sad to leave but hope to return soon.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: It's always so heart-warming for us to receive the lovely reviews that our guests have sent to us. I'm very happy that you enjoyed your visit and that you would like to return. You are welcome any time, Rose. Also, I loved hearing that your dog enjoyed sleeping in her bed by the fireplace. Thank you for taking the time to leave this thoughtful review. ~Donna

This is our first time to Black Mountain NC and we couldn't be more pleased with what was waiting for us. This mountain hideaway cabin with its majestic view of the High Top mountain peaks came alive each night with unobstructed views of the sparkling night sky and hills dotted with glimpses of distant house lights. The best part was waking up during the night and it was all still there, right outside our windows all around the master bedroom and living room. Unbelievable! We started every morning with a short walk to nearby Cheshire, for coffee and more, which we really recommend doing (we brought our two maltese dogs - this is a very dog friendly area). Spent time in the town of Black Mountain, eating, shopping, meeting the friendly shop owners and locals. Always looked forward to returning to our cozy cabin for an afternoon out on the deck. We really loved our stay here at Black Mountain Hideaway and definitely want to return over and over (perhaps hitting all the seasons). A BIG thanks to the owners for making their home so welcoming and warm. Can't wait to come back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This has been a wonderful, well-needed vacation for the three of us (My husband, myself, and our 4-legged commander, Shady). The view off the back porch is breath taking and I could have spent the whole vacation enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the scenery! We loved the cute shops and friendly people of Black Mountain! This is the perfect town/cabin to feel that you are away from everything, but still so close to anything you need! We highly recommend taking a trip down the French Broad River with the NOC, very exciting whitewater and some wonderful guides! Thanks again!Did you find this review helpful? WOW!!! My husband and I came here to celebrate our one year anniversary, Sept 28th. I am a "beach girl" but he convinced me to try the mountains. So glad we came. The house is AMAZING. Great view, super comfortable. We brought our babies (dogs) Brice & Squirt. Enjoyed morning walks and coffee on the porch. We've had such a great time that we are going to make it a yearly trip here. Thank you so much to Donna and Gerry for sharing your beautiful home with us. It has truly been a blessing to be here. We look forward to many more mornings, afternoons, and beautiful nights here. P.S. Our only regret is that we can't stay longer :) THANK YOU!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My husband and I loved our stay in your cabin! We come each year to see Biltmore at Christmas, but normally stay in Asheville. We wanted to try something new this year and bring our doggies Zoey & Chloe. We loved the Black Mountain area and the short drive to Asheville. We made the mistake of eating at My Fathers Pizza the first day. We ended up not eating ANY of the food brought and ate at My Fathers Pizza three times!! Weather was perfect for hiking (mid 50's) and cold at night for a fire. Hope to come back next year.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We've been happily married for 47 years and have enjoyed traveling around the country in our camping van for the past 10 years, since retiring from our hectic careers. We were so often drawn back to the Black Mountain / Asheville area, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, that we finally realized we needed to own a little piece of it. Finding, restoring, and updating our little 'Black Mountain Hideaway' has been a dream come true. We love this cozy, romantic little place so much that we've decided to share it with others when we can't be here. Our wish is for you to enjoy this tranquil home and wonderful area as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Black Mountain:
We chose Black Mountain because no matter where you look, you are surrounded by these beautiful mountains, and each season has its own special appeal. The local people always have a welcoming smile for you. Most of the shops and restaurants are pet friendly, and often have water bowls and dog treats handy. There is a wonderful variety of activities and entertainment venues in this area. Fantastic outdoor life all seasons.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love returning to this quiet, cozy cabin after a busy day of shopping or sightseeing for a relaxed evening in front of the fireplace, or by the outdoor firepit. Even a lazy day at home is a treat. Some of our favorite Black Mountain restaurants are 'My Father's Pizza' for the best crust we've ever had, 'Ole Quacamole's' for their authentic Mexican meals, and the 'Veranda Cafe' for there fantastic homemade soups and sandwiches. We often enjoy afternoon coffee at the 'Dripolator', or yummy treats at the 'Black Mountain Bakery'. All of these favorites have cozy outdoor dining as well.
