Retreat to Ambler Cottage, perched up on the hills of the well established Eastside Asheville neighborhood. Our two bedroom cottage is well appointed and centrally located. We want this cottage to feel like home, so you’ll want to make this a yearly tradition, time and time again.
Peaceful, private and cheerful, you will find this home has almost everything you need. We have worked hard to supply the kitchen with plenty of needed cooking items for making the cook in your family happy. And for those who like to stay well connected to technology, we have Cable, 32' HDTV, WIFI Hot Spot in case you need online access.
With the large fenced in back yard and private deck, you will enjoy drinking your morning coffee or enjoying a night cap watching the stars in the sky. Our cottage is also dog friendly – your dogs will gladly romp in the large fenced yard or nestle in with the wire crate provided. On rainy days, the 1,100 square foot, daylight basement provides a great play area for children or four legged friends.
But most importantly, we pride ourselves in keeping this a clean and comfortable cottage. The East Side location is great, too. We stayed at this house Friday and Saturday night. The house was very clean and the pictures represented it well. We had plenty of space for the two of us plus our dog. It was nice to stay in a home instead of a hotel room and this place was very inviting/homey. The king-sized bed was a bonus and also very comfortable. There is a large backyard plus an unfinished basement with lots of extra room. WiFi worked great and never had any issues. The only thing I would suggest is updating the bathroom, it was a bit old. Otherwise, it was a great house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children.

My husband and I stayed at Ambler Cottage for a quick weekend in March 2013. The cottage was exactly as described, and was perfect for our stay. Everything was clean and neat, and the king sized bed was so comfortable! Sandy really thought of everything and it felt like staying at a friend's house - as everything we needed was there. Our dog absolutely LOVED running and playing with us in the fenced yard, and we enjoyed the deck for our morning coffee. The neighborhood is family oriented and several families waved or stopped to say hello. It was so nice to have a crate for the dog available, and food and water bowls as well. The proximity to downtown and the Blue Ridge Parkway was fantastic. We loved hiking at the NC Arboretum and getting tacos (Sandy's recommendation) at the White Duck Taco Shop! We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

It was just fine. We needed a place for a family get-together where we could cook our favorite food and play cards. Accomplished. Word to future cooks...we had to bring our dishwashers with us AND we had to make do with the furnished pots. Not a big deal, but we had to be creative. No mixing bowls, cookie sheets or enough big pots for us! Otherwise, it was just fine. Easy access to downtown and Biltmore. Weather could have been warmer!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.
Owner response: Mary, I would have gladly added larger pots and our mixing bowls must be missing. Consider both now upgraded and added to the kitchen. For your future stay, call me if you find items missing. We are also adding a crock pot and ensuring the baking sheets are easier to find for future guest. I am a cooks cook and want all guest to have the needed items to make a super dinner. Thank you for the great feed back!

This house has the most thoughtful touches for the perfect Asheville retreat for your whole family! The large fenced in back yard and basement is perfect for four-legged family members, complete with a well-stocked kitchen for everyone (dogs included). This is also very child friendly with a great back deck with locking latch at the top of the stairs, and an extra bedroom with twin bed and pack-n-play. The owners have thought of everything, with Ambler Cottage as your perfect vacation host for the entire family. Stay once, and this will be your annual Asheville vacation rental no-brainer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The cottage is accurately described by the most affable homeowner. The cottage was clean, the master bed incredibly comfortable, the view from the back deck amazing with clear weather, and centrally located. Our dog was quite grateful for the large back yard, and we had everything we needed to be comfortable. The homeowner is beyond gracious and kind; she responded to questions more than just timely, and went the extra mile at all opportunities. We definitely consider this our new home away from home. Thanks Sandy!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The description of this property was right on the money. The photos accurately reflected the rental's appearance and amenities. When we arrived, everything was neat and clean. The owner was wonderful! She helped us with any questions we had just by giving her a call and she tried to accommodate us in every way she could. I definitely would recommend this property to friends and relatives. It was cozy, comfortable for our needs and was in a very quiet neighborhood across from a golf course. Our 3 Shih Tzus loved the big, fenced-in backyard. The Biltmore was only 3.5 miles from the house and we loved visiting the Grove Park Inn. The owner informed us about the restaurant, The Corner Kitchen in the Biltmore Village shopping area and it was fabulous! We definitely would rent this house again when visiting the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway.

The Ambler Cottage was as described. The location was centrally and conveniently located just outside of the hustle and bustle of the city, and very close to the Biltmore home which we toured. The beds were very nice and comfortable, which I am a true critic when it comes to beds, and the dogs enjoyed the large and roomy back yard. When we got back from our adventures our two children just wanted to plug themselves into their electronics and so did we. I would recommend... Chimney Rock, the Biltmore (2 days would have been nice vs. one day) and eating out in Asheville. The food in Asheville is fabulous and it is easier after a long day. Would I visit again?... that's a definite Yes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.
Owner response: Pen, Thank you for your review. We love to hear feedback and work hard to provide a welcoming cottage for our guests. And I agree with you on the beds in a rental can make the stay relaxing or sleepless. This is why we place quality beds that we would have in our own home. In fact, the king bed is more comfortable than my personal bed at my "house" house. We would love to have you back to stay. Travel Safe and thank you again!

Set in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood but with very easy access to downtown. We made it home from dinner downtown in just 5 minutes one night! And even easier access to the Parkway. Very pet friendly, with a HUGE securely-fenced yard. The house is older, but the owners have added a lot of nice touches to make it very comfortable (good beds, great linens, free of clutter, etc.) And the internet-connected TV was very handy including Netflix movies. Owner great to work with. Would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

My husband, my in-laws and I really enjoyed our time at your property! It was so comfortable and welcoming. It didn't feel small even though we shared a bathroom (the in-laws were worried about that but couldn't stop raving about the house once they got there). The fenced in back yard was perfect for our 5 dogs! Plus the neighborhood was nice and quiet which allowed for late night walks and a couple mid morning runs. This house is so close to everything, yet far enough away that you didn't feel smothered. Thank you so much again for being so pet friendly; that is a rarity. We're definitely adding this house to our favorite list! Thanks!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: My husband and I have enjoyed staying at this cottage over the years. We hope you enjoy our warm and restful place. After renovations in 2012, we thought it would be nice to share our home with friends, family and vacationers. We call it our home away from home and hope you will, too.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
Asheville is a nestled town between the mountains and has a great vibe. Good food, amazing views and a fun place to explore new things. The weather is always beautiful even in the winter. It has the 'true' four season feel. We think it is unlike any other place in the US.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The wild life is at the door steps, seriously. Between the birds, deer and bears - you will need to keep your camera ready. And when walking around the property, don't be fooled with it being just a couple of miles from downtown. Bears have been spotted with cubs. Refrain from any interaction, please.
