This one of a kind fully restored historic farm house is nestled in the heart of 100 acres of large trees, hay fields and conservation forest. The property, on the National Historic Registry, was once a tobacco farm, whose store, drying sheds and outbuildings still dot the property. A fishing pond sits off the back porch surrounded by horse pasture, while wooded paths lead you to a private dock on a secluded finger of Kerr Lake.

The air conditioned, 2,700 square foot house has a gourmet kitchen with granite counters, custom maple/cherry cabinets, a large island with bar stools and a sunroom with fireplace - a perfect gathering place to watch and socialize with your cooks. The front porch with porch swing is a perfect place to relax and watch the wild life pass by. The back porch houses a private hot tub, where you can relax with a view of the pond and surrounding field, home to ducks, geese and horses and the occasional deer. A farmhouse table sits in the dining room with seating for eight, or dine alfresco: two oversized hardwood picnic tables off the back porch have seating for 16.

Four bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen, 2 twin and 2 bunk beds) offer plenty of sleeping options. A perfect children's room has two sets of bunk beds with ample play space. Board games, an extensive DVD library, basketball net, cable tv and internet with WiFi are other entertainment options.

With so much space to explore, we offer, for a fee, the use of our golf cart. Make trips to the lake easy - load the coolers, chairs and gear in the back and enjoy the ride!

Restaurants, grocery stores and shopping are located 10 minutes away in Clarksville, VA. Spend a day on the lake - boat rentals are available in town as well.

We had a very relaxing time at the farmhouse. Our young children loved feeding the horses every morning and evening; riding in the golf carts; and just overall exploring the property. We also had a rare cool(ish) night where we had a campfire in the firepit area. Rented a boat out of Clarksville one day and spent a great day on the Lake. When we were inside, spent most of our time in the kitchen which is very nice and well stocked with what you need for cooking. It was a very peaceful, relaxing few days.

5 Adults and I spent a weekend at the property and had an absolutely wonderful time. The house itself is nicely furnished with old and new touches. The kitchen had plenty of appliances, cutlery, and pantry items. The house was cool despite it being in the 90's outside (We never used the hottub!). The beds were comfortable. More memorable was the outside. We loved feeding apples and carrots to the friendly horses as well as watching all the variety of birds on and around the back porch. The grounds are expansive and well maintained. There are trails, a pond, a garden with fresh herbs, numerous shaded picnic tables, and even a basketball court. Also, the property is very convenient to the Triangle Area, a relaxing 20 min drive off I-85.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: A family of 6, we resided in North Carolina for several years.

Why the Owner Chose Kerr Lake:
We fell in love with this property the moment we set our eyes on it. Our four kids and two dogs have had the best times of their lives running, exploring, sharing campfires, swimming and fishing together. We believe the property is magical.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
When we spend time at our farm, we feel transported to a simpler time where we gather together, slow down and enjoy one another. A family game of softball or basketball, fishing or climbing trees makes for a perfect way to spend the day. Watching the sun go down with a glass of wine on the front porch is heavenly. After purchasing the property, we placed the surrounding fields and old growth forests into a conservation trust to preserve the land for the enjoyment of future generations.
