Seaside cottage description
Please take a moment to read our current TRAVELER REVIEWS and you'll understand why our cottage will be perfect for your upcoming visit!
Cozy and Charming! Perfect for up to three!
Irresistible, immaculate and fun. This unique vacation home and the landscaped yard have been beautifully maintained for 34 years by their owners, a Portland Architect and Portland Artist.
Located next to Scout's Cottage (VRBO listing,#405286), you can rent both cottages which will accommodate up to 10 guests.
Birdie's Cottage is located on a quiet street. However, within minutes you can be at the beach, downtown, or eating fish and chips at your favorite restaurant.
This charming all-seasons retreat includes a one-of-a-kind cottage with special collections, original artwork, an amazing fully equipped galley kitchen, gas fireplace, and two bedrooms.
There's an outdoor swing (for all ages), a trellis clothesline which you can light up and enjoy in the evenings. (The switch is on the inside the cottage.), a outdoor shower, and a Hot Tub.
The cottage's personality -filled rooms hold a variety of 1940s and '50s unique collections, a large collection of movies to enjoy and an array of books for you to read.
Walk down the stone pathway and smell the roses and other flowers in bloom. Take a minute to listen and smell the nearby ocean.
When you open the door to the cottage you are in for a treat! High gloss white paint covers the wood walls in the living room making it light and airy. A secret door in the living room holds snow domes on glass shelves, collected abroad and around the USA.
This is the heart of Birdie's Cottage: collections of souvenirs and memories displayed in every room of this special home. One knotty pine wall displays the unusual souvenir wooden sign plaques originally found in almost every souvenir shop across the USA from the early 1930s until the late 1950s. These gems are recycled gifts made from thin slices of tree stumps. Most have funny sayings on them along with a stamp or decal naming the location where they were sold.
Comfortable seating, a green enamel gas fireplace, original artwork, books to read, movies to watch; everything you need to make yourself at home.
The kitchen is filled with modern appliances nestled in with charming collections from the 40s and 50s. Fully equipped with a dishwasher, a coffeemaker, a microwave and all the other necessary kitchen equipment. You just supply the food! And the gas stove/oven is a workhorse!
In the Twin Bedroom there is a reading library. And if anyone wants to see a children's movie just open the bottom dresser drawer. You'll be able to select from over a dozen of the best Disney's films ever made. Lots of games and board games in this bedroom.
The Double Bed Bedroom has a comfy bed surrounded by paint-by-numbers hung on the wall. The bench in this bedroom has 2 purposes, one to allow guests to sit on it and two, to open up the bench seat and select one of over 200 DVDs and VHS movies! There are even more movies under the bench.
This is Birdie's Cottage, a very special place in Seaside.

My boyfriend and I spent Thanksgiving and several subsequent evenings at Birdie's Cottage, and we're so glad we did! We arrived stressed from a month of long work deadlines, and we left feeling relaxed and at ease. We particularly enjoyed the proximity of the beach and the coziness of the cottage, as well as listening to the rain on the roof at night. The kitchen and bathroom are tiny, but that just adds to the charm. Overall, a great place to land for an autumn trip to Seaside!

We absolutely loved our stay at Birdie's! The cottage is so welcoming and in a quiet location with a shirt walk to the beach! Seaside is such a relaxing and unique city. We enjoyed fixing food in the quaint kitchen which is wonderfully equipped!! I would suggest getting a Safeway card if you are wanting to do any cooking- it is free, doesn't ask for personal information, and gives great discounts!! This was our first trip to Oregon but not the last and Birdie's will be our residence again!!

My daughter and I stayed at Birdie's Cottage for the 2nd time this fall. We chose Birdie's Cottage again this year because we loved it so much the first time. Its such a delightful place to stay! We love the decor, the cozy firelpace for cool weather, the movies, and the interesting books & memorablia! The beach is only a block or so away, and the downtown area just a short walk away. Coming home to such a cozy retreat was really nice. We love this place and hope to return again!

Owner response: Dear Diane, It was such a pleasure to have you and your daughter back again! The weather was perfect during your stay...in October!! You left the house spotless as you did last year. Thank you for your lovely words. I look forward to your return for a third time! Best to you, Kay
We had a great stay at Birdie's Cottage. We felt very much that we were home away from home. The location was perfect, one block away from the beach and promenande. It was very cozy and had everything we needed plus more. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. We will definitely be back soon!

Owner response: Thank you! It is mid-October and the weather is perfect in Seaside. The forecast is high 60s and low 70s for the entire week. This is a beautiful time of the year to get away to the beach. And our cottage's October costs are such a great deal at $115 a night. Thank you for staying at Birdie's Cottage and I look forward to your return! Kay

My husband & I spent an extended weekend at Birdie's Cottage, and it was awesome! We were so glad we went with the cottage instead of a hotel - our own hot tub, and a small kitchen made it so much easier. Plus, short distance to plenty of restaurants in town. Thanks so much!

Really there are no words to describe the wonderful experience we had during our week in Seaside. When we were searching for a quiet, peaceful retreat we stumbled upon the listing and immediately were sure we had found exactly what we were searching for. When we finally arrived and turned the corner on 13th avenue, we were so thrilled to how cute the cottage was and the quiet location. Everything was sparkling clean and there wasn't anything that left us wanting. We spend hours just looking at all the decorations and reading the guest books and all the memoribilia. Being only a block from the beach was wonderful and just a short walk to the main strip of resteraunts, gift shops and a little night life. In the evenings it was so wonderful to sit out back either on the patio or in the hot tub and just listen to quietness and do quite a bit of reading. I would highly recommend to cute cottage to anyone looking for a "true" retreat from our hectic lives. But, keep it a secret!! haha... we will definately return in the near future.

Our Portland to Coast team has stayed here each year after the race. The two cottages are each comfortable and well kept. We like having the backyard to sit around and talk. Also, it is a very convenient walk to the beach and to the shops in Seaside. The owners are always nice to do business with. We look forward to returning next year.

Staying at the Birdie's Cottage was like going back in time to when cottages were full of charm and gave you the feeling that you were there to relax and enjoy your summer with family. There were all the amenities in the cottage that one could ask for from the dvd's to fully equipped kitchen that made cooking a breeze. The hot tub, even though shared with the other cottage was always available and was well kept. Loved the outside barbeque. 5 min. walk to the beach was great, did lots of kite flying. The close proximity to the other towns like Astoria, and Long Beach, WA made for easy day trips to explore the coast. The miles of biking trails at both Fort Stevens and Long Beach were awesome and were easy biking for any age. Will definitely recommend Birdie's Cottage to others looking for a great beach vacation stay.

My husband and I had a wonderful anniversary getaway. I was so excited when we drove up! It looked like we were staying in our very own gingerbread house. It was so fun to go inside and explore what else it had in store. The cottage is clean and the owners fabulous to work with! Thank you again!

Birdie's Cottage is lovely little home only a block from the beach at the quieter end of town. It has all the amenities you will need to enjoy your stay and is extremely clean and well kept. Cute vintage dinnerware and linen are wonderful touches, as were the fresh roses upon arrival. We were a family of 4 with 2 smallish children and found our stay very comfortable. The one drawback was the size of the bathroom-very tiny, but luckily we are a pretty tidy group so we managed. Overall, a terrific home that we would recommend to any small group that doesn't mind tight quarters.

Owner response: Hi Wendy, Thank you for writing such a lovely review. I agree the house is tiny but that is also its charm. I now realize that having four people, even little ones, is too many for such a small home to contain. Your family was so considerate and left everything in beautiful order but I know it must have been a challenge with four people. That is why I've decided to have Birdie's Cottage be for up to three people only. That way everyone will enjoy the experience. It is a perfect couple's retreat; celebrating weddings and wedding anniversaries and other special occasions. I hope you had a chance to check out Scout's Cottage (next door to Birdie's Cottage) during your stay. It would fit your family perfectly with a large bathroom and considerable more space. Again, thank you and I hope to have you return in the future to stay in Scout's Cottage. Kay
