Thank you for the last minute booking. What a great place. It is exactly what I was looking for - convenient to everything. I loved sitting on the lanai as the sun came up each morning. The place is well equipped - really enjoyed the beach float and large beach towels. The bed is very easy to use and very comfortable. I love the countertops and cabinets - Beautiful! I hope to stay here again!

Best place per square foot I've ever stayed in. We enjoyed our brief stay here. We toured Pearl Harbor, hiked Diamond Head, and boogie boarded at the beach. Thanks for the boogie board, beach chairs and plush beach towels! The location is excellent. If you walk the beach at night, many hotels have free entertainment you can enjoy. Overall - great place.

I LOVED this studio! We arrived on a cloudy night and couldn't see anything but three palm trees across the street. Boy did we get a wonderful surprise the next morning! The view was perfect, the beach a lot closer then I thought it would be. We decided after 1 day to rent a car and I'm so glad that we did that - we drove all over the island! Even though we didn't spend much time in the room (Who would with all there is to do!?), we still considered it "home" and found your place to be comfortable, beautiful & convenient. And the best part was it did not cost a small fortune! Mahalo for making our first trip to Hawaii so memorable! We will be visiting again real soon!

Thank you so very much for such a beautiful & comfortable accommodation. The room was the gathering point for my two children and their families each morning for coffee, conversation and a beautiful view of what the day was to bring. We were here in Waikiki for my son's wedding and it was wonderful that all my children (& families) were able to make the trip. I can't think of any way or anywhere I'd rather spend a week. Thank you so much, with the communication from you my vacation was spectacular.

I will first start by saying that this location was falsely advertised in every way. Photos on this site do not represent this unit. The unit is extremely small and cluttered. It was so dirty with visible stains on the couch and patio chairs. We placed our own towels down to sit. The bathroom door was initially slid closed that I had to get help from the front desk to open it. The bathroom floor had hair and dirt that was in every corner. Expect no help from the front desk due to their disinterest in the unit. We paid for parking only to find frequently someone else parked in our spot. We left halfway through our stay.

Owner response:I am sorry that this guest did not enjoy her stay. I work very hard to give my guests the best experience when they stay in my property and I try to provide a quality product for a very reasonable price. I do wish that this guest had contacted me upon arrival in the unit so that I could have had the opportunity to improve the situation for her. Unfortunately, this guest did not contact me until several days after her check out date. I maintain a toll free number and closely monitor my email so that I can be accessible for my guests. It is very unfortunate that I was not contacted by this guest upon her arrival or at any time during her stay. I had recently been in the unit and I was not aware that there were any potential issues with my unit until the day this guest posted this review. After receiving this review, I immediately contacted the current guests and offered to have the unit deep cleaned and gave them a free mid stay cleaning as well. My cleaning company had a recent change in ownership. It appears that any issues this guest had arose from this change. I have hired a new cleaning service that does a very detailed top to bottom clean and have hired a secondary cleaning service with property management experience to do periodic checks on the unit and provide additional deep cleaning services as well. I am very honest and do not try to hide that these are studio units in Waikiki, they are, however, fully stocked studio units very close to the beach with ocean or Diamond Head views priced less then most hotel rooms in Waikiki. My photos are straightforward and there are extensive photo albums on my website at www.waikikiretreat.com that show the units from all angles. I take all guest feedback, positive and negative, very seriously and strive to use this feedback to continue to do the positive things and to improve those things that may negatively impact my guests’ experience. I strive to provide quality and value and truly mean it when I say “I hope you enjoy your stay!”

Your room is great! We really like the decor. The bed is very comfortable & easy to set up. The room has everything you need - although a small kettle might be nice. DELUXE OCEAN VIEW STUDIO A perfect location! Close to all the action, but peaceful as well because of the zoo and park across the street. The view of Diamond Head - spectacular! Eating breakfast on the lanai while enjoying the ocean’s beautiful views is a perfect way to begin each day. If you are not a surfer, we highly recommend an outrigger canoe experience. Walk down the beach to the Waikiki Outrigger Hotel and for $10 per person you can catch a couple great waves to the beach. Lots of fun. Then head up the steps to Duke’s and have a great lunch overlooking the ocean and the beach. Pearl Harbor visit is a must to fully understand the sacrifices made that day. Today we leave for the Pride of America to cruise around the islands, but this has been a lovely way to begin our first trip to Hawaii.

My husband and I stayed at the Waikiki Retreat for 7 days two weeks ago. We had expected a small property, but this property is tiny and pokey. It is not more than 200 sq ft. and cluttered. Th lanai is very small, but does have a great view. We spent 10 days in total in Waikiki and this area of the beach was a letdown. Every morning we encountered homeless people and drug addicts camped out on the street. It is certainly not the Waikiki we had hoped to see. This property might suit a twenty something surfer, looking for proximitiy to the beach, but it did not suit us. We also had trouble communicating with the owner in order to get the combination for entry to the property. We will not return to this property.

The view from the balcony is just as it shows. A perfect place to sit and enjoy the ocean and the zoo directly in front of the condo. The window wall opens for the wonderful breezes. It is close to the main drive with plenty of shopping and restaurants. There is a surf shop next door offering boards and lessons. My husband rented a board there and it was a short walk to the waves. There are beach chairs to use as well as body boards. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to cook a meal. A parking stall was easy to secure though a car is not needed unless you venture from the Waikiki area. Our biggest enjoyment was the 41st annual Ukulele Festival in the park. What a treat to hear fabulous musicians from all over the world. The childrens group of 800 was amazing. Teddy's located on the ground level has great burgers and fries. The owner is helpful and very organized.

Recommended for:Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

A small gem

To stay so close to the beach and to have such views without paying pretentious five star prices is amazing. Sure, the room is small and you trip over your siutcase on occasion but that's a trifling criticism. We didn't come to Waikiki to sit in a hotel room. The position is magnificent. From the lanai, to the left, is the zoo with its intermittent interesting noises coming from somewhere beneath the trees. Straight out in front is the park; not concrete and asphalt and hotels blocking out the sun, but large grassy areas with trees and coconut palms on the beachfront. And to the right is the beach in all its glory. (Surfers: you can't see Queens etc which is to my mind a blessing. If I want to see a circus I'll go to the circus. But Publics is in line of sight to the left and far less crowded.) The lanai was comfortable as we had a gentle cooling breeze most of the time and was a wonderful place to sit of an evening, taking in the beautiful view of Diamond Head in the background and enjoying some pre- or post- prandial tinctures. We found the listing and description accurate and the owner was helpful and replied to our queries promptly. The counter staff in the lobby were friendly and helpful and allowed me to store my surfboard in the locked room at reception. (Surfers: don't hire a board from Hans Hedeman along the street; he's a ripoff. Google the guy who does rentals delivered and picked up from the hotel - he's half the price and his boards are much better and the service is much more convenient for a dawnie when HH is not even open). The accommodation is within walking distance to anything beach-focused, is close to bus routes and is a pickup point for tours. There's not much more one could ask for. We will be back. Thank you.

If you have time - do a luau (we went to Germaines and it was fantastic), a dinner cruise, go to the Dole Plantation (it’s great) and also the Polynesian Cultural Center was amazing. DELUXE OCEAN VIEW STUDIO Aloha! Six days and five nights in Waikiki could not have been better spent in any other room. What a view and location! We could not have asked for more - mahalo for everything! We got engaged on 9/19 at the top of Diamond Head - it was incredibly special to wake up and see the sun behind it every morning. Check out the Kuhio Beach Grill buffet for dinner and have a Blue Hawaii at Tiki's while listening to live music. Climb down to the blow hole - we were lucky to see sea turtles in their element. If you can head around the island, be sure to check out Sunset Beach, and buy treats at a produce stand off the raod - yum! Thank you for being part of an unforgettable trip!

DIAMOND HEAD VIEW STUDIO We had a great time in Hawaii this time. THe proximity of the studio to the beach & zoo was perfect for us and our baby daughter. Some highlights: North Shore - we had the best time of our whole visit here. We saw tons of turtles & fish at Sharks Cove and the best swimming was at Waimea Bay, but get there early! Eat at Kono's! Eats- We has a great dinner at Hula Grill & my favorite was having cocktails at the Moana Surfrider & sitting under the Banyan trees & watching the musicians & hula. Thanks for sharing your very affordable place with us, it worked out well for us.

DELUXE OCEAN VIEW STUDIO We loved our stay here - thank you! We were uncertain about no curtains at first, but the beautiful open view was perfect! We loved the sound of the Gibbons greeting us from (the zoo) across the street on our first night. We did visit the zoo twice and we loved it! This is a great place to stay. The refrigerator and microwave were nice to have for our water & leftovers. Super location - so much within walking distance and buses easily accessible. We really enjoyed ourselves and wish we could plan to come back again.
