Welcome to Sunset Point, your private oceanfront sanctuary. This spacious oceanfront 3 bedroom/3 bath home is set back from the edge of the ocean so one can observe varied wildlife grazing with the Pacific sunset as a backdrop. The home maximizes ocean views from almost every room. Two king suites each have unique features—one has a luxurious, almost decadent ocean view bathroom with a jacuzzi for two & a separate walk-in shower that has dual showerheads; the other has sliding doors to a private deck with ocean views. The queen bedroom has views of the front garden. The open floor plan includes a living room with woodstove, a viewing/sitting room with a wall of windows, a dining area and a generous sized gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops. The family/entertainment room is a separate cozy room with a sleeper sofa; a great room for games, watching TV or using your laptop. Centered on the front of the property at the cliff edge are steep, wood stairs to the rocks and ocean below.
Sunset Point is centrally located next to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and an easy drive to Fort Bragg and the Mendocino Village. It is a wonderful, peaceful home for adult couples, friends and family to enjoy the simplicity of nature while creating lasting memories. Situated next to the Mendocino Botanical Gardens, this is a charming place to stay while enjoying the many activities held at the gardens or to simply embrace the beautiful surroundings. A short stroll from the house will lead you to a quiet creek and gravel road that continues to the front entrance of the Botanical Gardens. North of the property provides dramatic views of the shoreline stretching to the town of Fort Bragg. Fireworks displayed from Fort Bragg may be enjoyed on a clear night during the 4th of July weekend. Viewing and observing nature is a unique and valued experience at Sunset Point. The morning awakens to many types of migrating and native birds such as quail, wild turkeys, and red-tailed hawks. It is also frequented by rabbits, deer, fox and other wildlife that feel at home at this sanctuary. A spotting scope is provided for your enjoyment. Along with the nature on the grounds, the ocean provides much entertainment. It is common to find migrating whales, sea lions, shore birds, and fishing charters right in your front yard. Sunset Point provides a special opportunity to experience nature while enjoying the comforts of an inviting, open and cozy retreat. We all enjoyed our time at Sunset Point. We would definitely rent his house again. The stairs to the ocean were blocked off, so we did not walk down them. We weren't sure if they were blocked for the renters or if it was to keep the public out. We all agreed our stay should have been longer. Time flew by. If you are considering adding a hot tub, that would be a wonderful addition. Thank you for sharing your home with us.Owner response: Thank you for your review of Sunset Point. We are pleased you enjoyed our home and would love to have you return. Thank you for respecting the cliff. It is important to be careful around the cliff and the steps are secured for safety. In the future, you are welcome to use the steps to discover the rocks and surf below. Please use caution; especially with elders and small children. As stated in the guestbook, the use of the stairs are at your own risk. We are considering to add a hot tub this next year. We also feel this would add to the property. This is just a beautiful home with amazing views of the ocean, Botanical Garden area and the Coastline. Secluded but close to Ft Bragg, Mendocino and many other small towns for shopping, restaurants and so many areas for site seeing, if that's your desire. The home has an amazing kitchen to cook up some great meals if you just want to veg out and enjoy what you have at hand -- maybe enjoy reading a good book while sitting on the wrap-around deck, watching the beautiful sunsets over the ocean or just relaxing. Our family and friends enjoyed the wildlife and exploring the property. I feel the owners have been very thorough with the accommodations and every attempt has been made to make your stay very enjoyable and relaxing. This will be a vacation home that we will enjoy going back to for many years! Have you checked out the photos? So much more to see -- very spacious home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.

Having lived for several years on the coast below Monterrey, I can never grow tired of watching the ocean. The cove below this location is something you will never forget. I have spent many hours sitting on the outside deck watching sea birds, seals, sea lions, whales, fishing boats and the amazing sunsets. The only thing that would disturb my view of the ocean was the occasional deer or wild turkey that roam the large grassy lot between the house and the cliff.Did you find this review helpful? Sunset Point has been a special part of our family for over forty years. It is a unique place to enjoy cool coastal breezes and beautiful surroundings. Once you enter the grounds, nature surrounds you with the sounds and sights of crashing waves, trees, gardens and wildlife. It is a place to enjoy the moment and quality time with friends and family. As a child and an adult, I have wonderful memories of Sunset Point and all it has to offer. My family and I currently live in Puerto Rico, and still make the trip each year to Sunset Point. We enjoy the nature, arts, festivals, markets, and restaurants the Mendocino coast provides. Our three children love to roam, investigate and let their imaginations soar. Sunset Point is a gem. Wonderful to escape the pressures and noise of the city and head to Sunset Point in Fort Bragg. There is always so much to do right here on the property. Whale watching is exciting, deer, wild turkeys and fox sighting can be seen from your windows.Our grandchildren caught their first fish from the rocks below while others explored tide pools. Within walking distance are the fabulous Botanical Gardens to delight children and adults alike. Memorable visit. We are planning to come again next July!Did you find this review helpful?
