Santa Rosa villa description
Our home is a Quaint riverfront home with tennis court, centrally located between Colon and Panama City in Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa is a very small rurral community along the Chagres River.
Our home features 3 bedrooms for guests, one is located on the main floor just off the living area and the others are upstairs. The master bedroom balcony faces the river where you can enjoy the sunrises and river activities. Each floor has a shared bathroom.
The main floor has an entry/mud room, living room with television and DVD player, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and sitting area that overlooks the river.
Our kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, blender, mixer, microwave and 5 burner gas stove top, cookwear, utencils, plates, glasses, mugs and flatware are included.
Enjoy views of the river from one of the two patios (one accessed directly from the kitchen) or relax in the hammocks, while sipping a cocktail, in the patio adjacent to the sports court. You will thoroughly enjoy the 617 square feet of covered patio / balcony area!
Our property is fenced on 3 sides and has banana, mango, mamei, cashew, guava, coconut trees with fruit when in season.
Water is from the public system well that is community owned or the 500 gallon reserve tank, we own. Water is supplied to the house automatically from the tank when the public water system is off. The water is potable and safe.
The community park borders our property upriver and has a small kiosk store where you can buy essentials and refreshments. Our driveway passes between the park and the Catholic Church. About 50 feet from the church is the ball park, and just up the hill from the ball park is the town bar which can be lively on Friday night through Sunday night.
One of our neighbors, Panta, sells fish, so get your order in the night before and hope for a good catch for dinner. Our favorite is peacock bass (sargento).
Several days a week, the bakery van (M,W,F, Great Cinamon rolls, etc), fruit / vegetable trucks and egg truck drive through town selling their wonderful fresh products. The pineapples usually are 4 for a dollar, and are grapefruit sized, juicy and sweet. We always have fresh coconuts on our trees. Pina Colada's made with fresh from the nut milk, these delicious pineapples and Carta Vieja Rum will spoil you!! Enjoy
The roads to the community are paved and in great condition.
We have enjoyed our visits to Panama as have our friends who have travelled with us.
We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do and that you have great adventures in Panama.

Family fun in Panama
Family fun in Panama
Our family enjoyed our week stay immensely! The house is beautiful and we enjoyed the outdoor areas as well. The patios offer great views of the Chagrez river. The owners of this lovely home have thought of everything and we were very impressed by the accomodations. The only thing one would need to bring are their clothing and food. Everything else has been provided. The community of Santa Rosa is a very quaint community and the people were very welcoming. Having a small convenience store a short distance from the house came in very handy. The location is ideal, it put us within 30 minutes from Panama City, the Panama Canal, and Gamboa. Isla Grande and El Valle were both within a 2 hour drive, so we took advantage of the close proximity and enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Isla Grande and had a blast zip lining through the canopy of trees in El Valle. It was so nice to have such a beautiful home to enjoy and savor the flavor of Panama! We look forward to spending another vacation in Panama and will definitely stay at this rental again!

Manager response: Marie: Thanks for your kind words. I am glad you enjoyed your time in Panama and staying at our home along the Chagres River. We too enjoy the central location between the Carribean and Pacific for day trips and the small town location along the river to relax in our hammocks.
A paradise a long way from home
A paradise a long way from home
I stayed on the property with owner approximately the begining of November 2011 for one week. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Their home is secluded so I enjoyed my morning walks everyday. The neighbors are friendly but of course I don't speak the lanuage so having an interperter was very nice! The home is centrally located in Panama which allowed us to travel the entire country in 4 or 5 days. I am now wondering when i can go back?

Manager response: Thanks for this review and the kind words. You are right, Santa Rosa is centrally located but it would have taken more than 4-5 days to see the entire country with all its history, beauty and diverse landscape. I think you got a good start by experiencing Porto Bello, Isla Grande, Colon, Panama City, El Valle de Anton, Coronado, Fort San Lorenzo ... and the rural community of Santa Rosa. You are welcome to come back anytime. A bit of a correction to Randys response. The owners love pets but we do not allow pets in our Panama home. We have two golden retrievers in our Puget Sound Washington State home. They do not go to Panama with us. In addition, one of us is allergic to cats. Sorry for any inconvenience this creates for you. About: We live and work in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. One of us was born in Panama. After many visits to family in Panama, we decided to purchase this oasis by the Chagres River.
Why Santa Rosa:
We love the hurricane free tropical climate, relatively low cost of living, the US dollar based currency and easy access via the international airport. Panama uses 120 volt / 60 hz, same as a typical home in the USA. Driving is on the right side of the road, same as in the USA. Check out our fun facts page on our linked webpage!!
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Day trips, from this centrally located village, to the Caribbean, Pacific Ocean, Panama City, mountain areas, antiquities, shopping, indigenous villages etc. while enjoying a true rural panamanian lfestyle along a beautiful river. Check out or suggested daytrips page on our linked webpage!! Interested in a Chagres River / Canal boat ride from our home? Our home is only 5 miles by boat from the Panama Canal. Ask our caretaker to arrange a trip through a local boat owner. Life preservers are provided. Remember your sun hat, sunscreen and beverages. Prices are negotiable depending on your desires. For a 4 hour excursion, we suggest $30.00 for the boat and operator, plus fuel costs.
