  If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing St John getaway for you and your honey, this is the place for you. The view is spectacular. It's quiet but still an easy drive in to Coral Bay. The house is just right for a couple, nicely decorated and updated, spotless, nice linens. The pool and outdoor shower are a plus, especially the privacy of the pool area. The gardens are beautifully maintained. We even met the gardener who clearly takes pride in his work. The back patio and garden is a special place especially on windy days. And sunsets are just a short evening stroll out the gate. Can't say enough about Catherine and Clark. They meet you at the dock and bring you to the cottage along with any stops you want to make. They are a wealth of information about the island and are available if you have questions during your stay. This was our fourth time to St John but the first time staying on the quiet side. If you are looking for a place to spend your days hiking, snorkeling, away from the crowds and a private retreat; milk moon cottage is your place.

  My wife and I spent 5 wonderful days at Milk Moon Cottage for our 25th Anniversary and I can think of no other place that could have been more special, we spent most of our time within 5 miles of the cottage and found lots of things to do and places to eat, a four wheel drive jeep is available for rent from the property manager and it's needed. Make sure to get your Groceries when you arrive at Cruz Bay, as the trip from there to the cottage is not one you will want to make unless necessary, you might want to bring some music CD's to play on the provided DVD player, there is an Ipod docking station there also. The only thing I would change about the cottage is the window air conditioner, this is your only cooling and if it rains you will need to close all the windows, the unit is noisy and to small to provide cooling outside the bedroom, 90% of the time the windows are open and you have a great breeze but it does rain. The property managers are the best and I would do this trip again.

Be assured that we are replacing the a/c unit in the bedroom and it is not intended to cool the entire house just the bedroom, you can always leave the back windows and doors open to get the breezes during the brief rain squalls.   We visited St. John at the end of May and spent an amazing week in Milk Moon Cottage. The cottage, furnishings and descriptions are all exactly as pictured and promised. The view overlooking Privateer Bay and the ocean breezes up on the hill are beyond compare. It's a magical place. The porch is awesome for morning sun, the pool gives you a way to cool off, and the owners provide all you need to explore the island (cooler, chairs, towels). Clark & Cathy were wonderful to work with and communicated all details clearly. It was so helpful to have Clark meet us at the ferry and drive us to the house on the East End along the twisty, turny left-side driving roads! The cottage is definitely at the far end of the island, away from all the hustle and bustle, but that's what we like. Coral Bay is charming and has everything you need. We only went back to Cruz Bay once during the week. St. John is such a lush island with so many critters running around above ground and beautiful creatures underwater. We explored so many amazing beaches with awesome snorkeling right off the beach. We loved Waterlemon Bay, Francis, Maho, Trunk, Hawksnest, and Vie's Beach on Round Bay. Skinny Legs bar and the Donkey Diner both had great food, and we enjoyed delicious seafood at Miss Lucy's. Can't say enough good things. We didn't want to leave and wish we could go back already! Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with the rest of us!

• Paradise!

  Where to begin? What a BEAUTIFUL villa! We stayed for a week and it was very difficult to leave. Everything was perfect, the location, the view, the amenities, our hosts (Cathy and Clark). Perfect! The villa has everything you need; wi-fi, easy parking, wrap around deck, flora/fauna, private pool, outdoor/indoor shower, coffee pot (very important to us), gas grill, utensils, cookware, coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, you name it. The views are unbelievable. We even got up early to watch the sunrise, you won't want to miss it. There were hummingbirds, geckos, bananaquits and I think sandpipers of some sort? Awesome tradewinds kept the bugs at bay and kept us cool in the sun. The neighbors at the top of the hill were far enough away that the only time we saw them was as they entered and exited the shared gate. We felt like we were in our own little world which was exactly what we wanted in our vacation and yet you're still only 15 minutes from Coral Bay. The finishes in the house are lovely as is all of the landscaping the owners did around the villa. It's obvious they take excellent care of their villa. Cathy and Clark were incredibly helpful. Clark met us at Skinny Legs and waited patiently while we grabbed some food before driving us to the property. Cathy dropped by while we were there to check on us and see if we needed anything. We had a bit of a glitch with the wi-fi and Cathy worked diligently with the provider to get it running again. It really was the best. Tough to come back to rainy, cold Chicago, but we'll be back! Thank you for everything!!!

• Quiet private paradise

  If your looking for breathtaking beauty, total privacy and peace and quiet this is the St.John villa for you. The house is tastefully decorated in beautiful soothing tropical colours with very comfortable furniture and some great local pottery sconces on the walls. Everything is screened so all the fabulous island fauna stays outside but the breezes come through and keep everything cool. We never even considered air conditioning although it's available in the bedroom. The views are truly stupendous and as it's on the top of a ridge you get sunrise from your bedroom and deck and sunset just out the gate (keep it closed because of the donkeys) by the road. We had breakfast every morning on the deck and there's a patio set down by the pool that sits under a palm tree. Can't say enough about the pool (very private) and the view from the pool deck out over the Caribbean to the BVI'S. On the same level there's a great outdoor shower we used the entire week. If the wind picks up there's a lovely patio with table and chairs on the other side of the villa surrounded by trees and flowers. The grounds are very pretty with a wonderful assortment of tropical plantings. There is only one other house visible from the villa which is great. This location is as far away from all the busy as you can possibly get on the island, which is what we wanted, so we didn't mind the 15 minute drive into Coral Bay. If you haven't driven on St. John be prepared, the hills and turns are really something but it doesn't take long to get used to it. Cathy and Clark, the managers, were so helpful right from booking through to the end of our holiday. They picked us up at the ferry, took us to the grocery store and then got us all set at the villa. Going home they took us back into Cruz Bay to catch the ferry. Mid week Cathy even met us in Coral Bay to loan us some DVD's. Gotta admit most nights we were so tired out from all the snorkeling, swimming and hiking we were asleep by 8:00. Don't miss the Annaberg sugar mill ruins and there's a great coral reef right there in Leinster Bay. Shipwreck Landing, Island Blues (say Hi to Collette for us), Skinny Legs and Aqua Bistro are all fun restaurants on the water in Coral Bay. Around every curve in the road there is another spectacular view and after a Canadian winter it was hard to believe it was real. This is one of those never forget it holidays and we can't wait to go back.
