Come and enjoy the ever-changing beauty of the Northwest as you look out on Puget Sound and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains till the sun sets beyond them at 9:30 in the evening. Long days, stunning vistas, fleets of sailboats, shipping traffic and ferries moving gracefully on the sound make Tranquil Views a wonderful setting for your family or group vacation. West Seattle provides the region's only sandy beachfront at Alki Beach, where low tides are epic, and you can bike, rollerblade or walk along the 3 miles of strand. You'll take in more water views as well as the Seattle skyline, which is stunning day and night. Or, walk the mile down from Tranquil Views to Lincoln Park, a 135 acre forested city park on the Puget Sound, and enjoy the waterfront access, or even stop at Colman Pool, a public, salt water pool right on the sound.
Tranquil Views is a 2,500SF home sitting near the top of Seattle's highest hilltop, providing a quiet retreat with spectacular, unobstructed western views. You'll enjoy vistas from the Living and Dining Rooms, Kitchen and Master Bedroom, as well as from the downstairs Family Room and Guest Room. Sorry, no view from the Laundry Room.
Tranquil Views is a 2 story home with 3 bedrooms and a guest room containing a queen-size Murphy bed that sleeps like a dream. With beds for 8, plus an Aero-bed if you need it, you can sleep up to 10 very comfortably. And with 3 bathrooms and dual hot water tanks, there are plenty of amenities to handle a crowd.
You enter Tranquil Views through a private courtyard and walk into the main floor where the views immediately grab your attention. You'll be welcomed into a large, adjoined living and dining space, a wall of windows, as well as a gas fireplace. A deck big enough for your entire party is accessed from the dining room, and is also covered for shade during the hotter parts of the afternoon. The kitchen is through the dining room, and is fully stocked, including a Bosch D/W, convection oven, microwave and complete sets of cookware, dishes, etc. The Master Bedroom has a huge window, set low to allow you to lie in the king-size bed while looking out to the mountains and water. Even better, the sumptuous Master Bath has a 2-person soaking tub that also has a clear sight line to the view. Relax with a bubble bath and glass of wine while the sun sets, all while listening to music piped in through the in-ceiling speakers. You won't soon forget the experience. The master bath also has a large shower and separate sinks. There is a vanity and large mirrors, as well as a walk-in closet. The rest of the main floor consists of a full bath, bedroom with a queen bed, and another bedroom with a twin. The main living areas upstairs are wired for sound with a stereo that can handle your iPod/iPhone or play your CD's. The upstairs also has A/C for those warm days.
Downstairs is where you'll find the family room, which has a large, 36' TV, DVD/stereo with surround sound, Cable TV service, as well as a Wii and XBox Kinect with some games (but bring your favorites) with 4 controllers for each. WiFi is available for all your Internet needs. Also downstairs is a 3/4 bathroom (shower only), guest bedroom and laundry room. The main floor is handicap friendly, with no steps to get into the house from the courtyard. There is one step from the sidewalk into the courtyard, but a side path and gate allow flat courtyard access, so it's possible to get from the curb to the home without encountering stairs.
Part of your stay will surely be spent exploring downtown Seattle, which is only 7 miles from Tranquil Views. That's 15 minutes by car, or 20 minutes by bus, with a stop only 3 blocks away. Times are a bit more during the morning commute. Just 5-6 blocks down the hill is our local market, which is a full-service grocery store with very high quality items. There is also the ubiquitous Starbucks and several eating and drinking joints that are worth a visit. A pleasant 2 mile walk to the Alaska Junction, West Seattle's main commercial district will provide numerous dining options, from pub food to a very good steak house, and excellent sushi. If flying to Seattle, the airport is only 25 minutes away, though you'll never hear the planes from here.
Come and enjoy the fantastic views and very long, sunny days during the best months Seattle has to offer. We welcome your visit.

This house was just as described and the photos matched to the T. Remember this is actually in West Seattle, but we had a rental car and after a day or so we were completely comfortable finding everywhere we needed to go. This is a very old and crowded city, so the smaller the car; the better and DO NOT rent a manual! There are only 2 main roads running N-S. That's 99 and I-5 as long as you know that and find the W Sea Bridge it's cake. If you've never been (I hadn't), everywhere you go has it's own little city center. This one seemed to be on California and Alaska St. But, back to the house. We are still trying to figure out how to get that master bed home to us; it was sooo comfy. The shower pressure is also to die for, it's like getting a massage....but be careful with the hot water. It is seriously 3 degree burn hot. We were a little taken back by not having a tv in the bedrooms or upstairs at all. But, really we were so busy and spent so much time on the balcony we didn't really notice and by the end of the week only turned on the one downstairs once for about 30 mins. Make sure you go to the Market just accross the bridge at least once while you're in town. Say Hi to Shirley for us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

4 adults and 1 child just spent a very comfortable week in this home. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful and the view has to be seen to be believed! We almost didn't want to leave and go on excursions because we just wanted to sit and look at the water. There are many shops and restaurants close by and the beach is a short drive away. The home is very close to Seattle so it was easy to spend time at Pike Place Market etc. The home itself has a lot of character, I believe the owners are slowly renovating as there were some areas that could use updating but it in no way changed how fantastic our vacation was. We cooked a lot at the home and found everything that we needed right there, including an outdoor grill that we put to good use. The master bedroom was very comfortable, we used one other bedroom on the main floor and it was good too. Our Son took over the downstairs and made that into his man cave for the week, there was a pull down bed that he used plus his own bathroom and the family room complete with TV and video games. The home was stocked with towels etc. and was clean when we arrived. The check in/check out process was very simple and the owners have been great communicators. The only downside that my Husband wanted me to mention was the lack of a TV on the main floor. Sometimes the downstairs area was a little warm and we didn't want to stop our Son playing video games so it would've been nice had there been a TV in the living room or even in the master bedroom (my Husband likes to fall asleep with the TV on - I don't so was thrilled that the only TV was downstairs). It also would've been nice had there been a patio table outside so that we could sit outside while we ate. I would definitely recommend this property as long as you are aware that it is a well loved home and has nicks and bumps and scratches!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: We purchased this home because of the stunning, unobstructed and wireless views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. During all times of the year, we still sit and watch the changing weather with fascination, feeling so honored that we can enjoy this view every day. After purchasing, we remodeled most of the interior of the home and added the Master Suite, laying out the bed and bath to maximize the views. We occasionally have periods where we travel, and are able to rent out our home so that others can enjoy it as we have. We clear out our personal belongings, but leave behind all the little things you probably have at your own home that are handy to have. We hope you'll find Tranquil Views to be a place to unwind between activities.
Why the Owner Chose West Seattle:
This part of West Seattle is known as Gatewood. It's one of the rare locations in Seattle where all the wires were placed underground years ago, and thus is a premium location for those who demand spectacular views without compromise. What can we say? We couldn't help ourselves.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Have we mentioned the view. I know you think we're exaggerating, but I swear, when you see it, you'll say to yourself 'Wow, they weren't lying!' Beyond that, we enjoy Alki Beach with it's water access, especially fun at very low tides where you can walk out a couple hundred yards and go beachcombing. There are many eateries, and Pegasus Pizza is especially fantastic. People watching during the summer is one of the favorite local sports, or you can rent a kayak and get out on the water, or take a ferry from W. Seattle to access Vashon Island or continue across to the Kitsap Peninsula.
