Water's Edge is what it claims to be~ A relaxing and quiet spot away from it all. The view out over the ocean is spectacular, add to that the private pool and hammock swaying under the palm trees and it's a great place to unwind. We did have some maintenance issues, but were handled quickly by the property manager Charlotte and we even recieved a phone call from the owner, Mark. The house is clean, comfortable and provides all needed amenities. Although one could walk to get groceries and to a beach, we would highly recommend having a car. Do not want to miss out on visiting Cabbage Beach. We made breakfast each morning in the nicely equipped kitchen, but dined out each evening. If you are looking for a pampering upscale experience check out Graycliff. This place boasts 250,000 bottles of wine in it's cellar, which you can view and cigars rolled in the lounge each evening. For fun, a view and tasty local food The Poop Deck is the place. Best place for groceries, Fresh Mart, even if a bit more money, they have everything, including tasty made to order sandwiches and a salad bar. Marco's Pizza is close to the house, fresh dough made daily. Should you want to have lunch in town, 2 blocks away from the water on Frederick St. is the Brussel's Bistro. Small, friendly and great menu. We also spent a few days at Atlantis. Not the peaceful place Water's Edge is, but super fun for kids. Favorite dining experience there was Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. Overall we rate this vacation highly and hope to return to Water's Edge in the future.

We had a great time at this gorgeous house. It is spacious and exactly like the pictures looked. The pool was on the cooler side, but we still manage to swim in it without complaints. The area is great, we rented a car and got to tour around the island easily and made our way to cabbage beach most mornings. The 4th bedroom is up a little staircase, so not appropriate for my 2 year old, but we easily made do without it. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this home again!

We had a dream vacation at this beautiful home in the Bahamas! It was close to amenities, a quick drive to Paradise Island, beaches, downtown, and Arawak Cay (fish fry). We travelled with our children and it was perfectly suited to our needs. The view was stunning and we enjoyed the beautiful morning sunrise and our afternoons gazing over the sparkling turquoise ocean. It was a great spot for snorkeling also. The only draw back was that the temperature of the pool was very cold, and we were not able to enjoy it. Luckily, there are beaches everywhere! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and can't wait to return!

Water's Edge was the perfect place for a girls' getaway - myself and 4 friends stayed a week here and it was just about perfect! The house looks exactly as it's depicted in the pictures, and everyone I interacted with both before and during the stay was extremely pleasant and helpful. The only negtive thing to say about the place was the back patio door locks were pesky and hard to lock/unlock, but other than that everything was amazing! We're already talking about coming back next year.

Owner response: Thanks for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Water's Edge! Sorry about the patio door locks they are the new state-of-the-art ocean-front kind and take a few tries to get used to. We would love to see you again at Water's Edge! Mark, Lisa & Emily

We spent a wonderful week at the house with our small daughter. The place is nicely decorated with good taste and very well furnished. It doesn´t look like a vacation rental, but a house where people actually live in. The owners have taken good care in the small details (lots of CD,s, games, good electric appliances, good internet, etc) to make you feel at home. All the four bedrooms are nice and comfortable. The view from the deck is beautiful, like it shows in the pictures, and the location is perfect, close enough to Nassau but away from the noise and the hustle of the city. I would recommended without hesitation.

Owner response: Thanks so much for your stay at Water's Edge! We are thrilled that enjoyed both the house and your vacation. We would love to see you again at Water's Edge! Mark, Lisa & Emily

It was our first family trip to the Bahamas and we arrived on a warm, sunny day and the weather stayed great for our entire stay (mid-70s to low-80's). One concern we had before our visit was the safety of the area and we felt absolutely fine the entire week, Water's Edge is in a very nice neighborhood. We were blown away by the house as we first walked in and were greeted by the property manager, Charlotte, who showed us around and walked through everything we needed to know. All amenities were at the house as listed except the views are even better than advertised. The kitchen was great and we took advantage of it for most of our stay as the grocery store was only a short drive from the house. We enjoyed listening to the house ipod and CDs (great music selection) over the stereo while cooking in the kitchen or relaxing in the evenings and playing the board games. Our children, ages 6 and 8, went swimming in the ocean a few of the calmer days and the pool was there for our enjoyment as well (it is actually larger than it looks in the picture so it was fine for our family). There were also a few small beaches nearby that we took advantage of during our week at Water's Edge whenever the water behind the house was choppy. The breeze coming off the ocean was so nice, we never turned on the air conditioning as the house has plenty of ceiling fans to keep the air circulating and the temperature cool. We to Atlantis for a few days and it was worth the trip to see all of the aquariums and waterslides though traffic can be difficult getting around the island so you need to time your trips wisely to stay out of the morning and evening rush hours. All in all a great experience and we would highly recommend the Water's Edge.

Owner response: Thanks so much for reviewing Water's Edge. It makes us so happy that you enjoyed your holiday in our special home. We would love to see you again at Water's Edge! Mark, Lisa & Emily

Beautiful villa - ideal for groups or family; we loved spending time in the lounge but what made the differrence is the terrasse where we had breakfasts and dinners. Exceptionnal views on the ocean. 2 bedrooms with views on the Ocean, 1 with ensuite. Fully equiped kitchen. Close to the centre, in a quiet area. You will need a car to go to the nearby beach/ restaurants. Mark, the owner, takes great care of you from booking to check out. For us the best place to stay in Nassau.

We stayed here for two weeks in October. Absolutely excellent. The house was exactly as I wanted it to be. Snorkeling was incredible. Deck was better than pictured. Comfort of the house was through the roof. We were actually in the house when Sandy went by the Bahamas and felt safe and protected. Mark (Owner) and Charlotte (property manager) both sent multiple emails keeping us in the loop as to the house and hurricane preparation. If you are into casinos and being constantly on the go then stay at the resort. But if you want to relax at an excellent home away from home then this is the place. We will be back. Lucas

Owner response: Thanks for your wonderful review Lucas. You and your family were fabulous during the arrival of Sandy and we are so glad that she didn't ruin your vacation. We would love to see you again at Water's Edge! Mark, Lisa & Emily

this place was just amazing. the pictures do not do it justice. the best and most relaxing vacation in the the bahamas to date. it was like being home but in paridise. the service accomadations, view, pool, and snorkling were fabulous. the house is so spacious and relaxing. it is perfect for family or a group of friends. it is close to town and all the attractions. or just laying on the deck. my next trip to the bahamas will be here instead of hotel. we could not have asked for more. mark and lisa are great, as well as charlette do not forget to ask about the taxi service mark recommends. joe and sharon were great. I WILL BE BACK!!!!!

Water's Edge was the perfect getaway. We were not only met with the most breath-taking view in all of Nassau but the house is beautiful. Water's Edge is immaculately furnished and well-appointed with every detail taken into consideration. We cooked most of our meals there and had every convenience available to us. A welcome booklet has been prepared detailing every aspect of your stay and providing helpful information about the house and the island including recommended restaurants, shopping, etc. We were able to have some nice evenings out and everything was close and easy to get to. We will definitely be coming back to Water's Edge and will certainly recommend it to others looking for a relaxing, stress-free, clean and safe rental.

Water's Edge is a unique combination of old world charm and modern amenities boasting an indescribably beautiful location. Our stay there was an idyllic week of breathtaking views, lazy poolside afternoons, and the lull of lapping waters near the ocean-side hammock. The house is fully and tastefully furnished with comfort and relaxation in mind. The open, airy home has a calm, soothing atmosphere augmented by silky, tropical breezes that hint of slower, by-gone days. For those who may not want to dine out, there is a supermarket nearby and management will happily arrange for the delivery of a variety of "home cooked" meals. If total relaxation is not on the agenda, a brief drive to downtown Nassau or Paradise Island and "Atlantis" will provide dining, shopping, and entertainment to suit every taste. Our only regret is that we had to return to reality!

Owner response: Thanks for your wonderful review. We hope to see you again at Water's Edge.

We Stayed at the Waters Edge for our "Buddymoon" The house was beyond amazing that was all I could say for days!!! The veiw was incredible! We spent most of our Vacation at the house lounging by the pool...snorkling in the ocean...playing monopoly in the house! Mark and Lisa were right when they said most people who stay at waters edge fall in love with the place so much that they stay there most of their vacation I can definately see why now! I also highly recommend if you stay to use Joe's Taxi Service he made our whole vacation! He was so friendly and took us everywhere we needed to go and even went above and beyond to make our trip amazing by bringing us to Graycliff and getting us a tour of their wine cellar...he brought us to the docks to see real live conch and we even got to eat Fresh Conch Salad he had the guy make us! Our trip here was absolutely wonderful!!!! I definately will come back someday!!!!!! Thank you so much Mark and Lisa we will never forget our trip to the Bahamas 2012!!!!

Owner response: Thanks so much for the wonderful review. We hope to see you again soon at Waters's Edge.

Walk through the front door and get ready to catch your jaw as it drops to the floor! The view of the crystal clear turquoise ocean that goes on forever makes you feel like you are on your own private tropical oasis. The thought and effort put into this home was impeccable. I call it a home because that is what it felt like. Waters Edge had all of the amenities and comforts you would need. Everything has been thought of here. Lets face it, if you travel, a lot of the time pictures, descriptions and reviews of destinations seem to be a greater than what they actually are. Waters Edge is exactly the opposite! The photos (though beautiful) do not do it justice. Some of my favorite features: the pool, the hammock, the chandelier above the dining table, the well maintained landscape. The best days were spent right there dipping in and out of the pool and basking in the sun. The house is a art gallery as well, displaying local artists (of which we purchased two pieces, one original!), it really gave an essence of the culture. If you can pry yourself out of Waters Edge to explore the rest of the island, please, please, please use the driver that the owners recommend, Joe. With Joe, a life long resident of Nassau, we felt safe, and we got to know the island and the best of what it has to offer. His manners, and efficiency were top notch, and everywhere we went he was well known and respected. We attribute much of our great Nassau experience to him! Our stay at the Waters Edge was one that we will never regret and always remember. Happily, Jasmine & Cody

Owner response: Thanks so much for your review Jasmine and Cody. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and that Joe was a hit :-) We hope to see you back at Water's Edge!

What a beautiful house with breathtaking views across the sea and picture postcard sunrises – I have my snaps as proof and look longingly at them now we are back in London. This is a perfect house for adults and children. It has plenty of games, books, pool toys and use of a dinghy – the sea is literally over the wall and the snorkeling is great. The location is lovely. The house is away from the hustle and bustle of town. However, it is just a few minutes drive to the nearest supermarket and has easy access to Nassau’s centre and Paradise Island. The home’s furnishings coupled with the art work dotted around the rooms are beautiful. We enjoyed the use of the well equipped kitchen and just the sheer sense of space (high ceilings with very welcome air conditioning throughout) . We had most of our evening meals at home with a few of them prepared by the host’s housekeeper which were delicious . We treated ourselves to a couple of fantastic meals out. Café Matisse is just wonderful - a bit pricey, but lovely for a special occasion. The Poop Deck was also a hit with us all. The Fish Fry was great for good food at good prices. We enjoyed a couple of trips to Blue Lagoon Island as well as Cable Beach and Cabbage beach. It was great to go on some lovely days out and then come back – tired and happy - to the comfort and luxury of Waters Edge. The owner and housekeeper were very helpful with plenty of tips and advice. Thanks Again, Julia

Our family of four just returned from a week stay at Waters Edge and were absolutely delighted. We are HomeAway owners ourselves, so quite interested in the details of each rental we stay at, and this property exceeded our expectations in all respects. The location and the property were just as represented, but there were also important details that went beyond what was advertised. For example, the air conditioning is fantastic, with separate controls for every room. We have never seen as many ceiling fans in a house, with seven of them in the living/dining area alone. The whole house is on an automatic backup generator that kicks in when the power goes out, which in the Bahamas seems to happen quite often. The furnishings are superb in both taste and quality, with many being original antique teak pieces. The bookshelves were lined with just the books we would have chosen ourselves. The artwork is significant, with the house doubling as an art gallery that promotes Bahamian talent, and the paintings being cataloged and available for purchase. You get the idea... My one practical recommendation is to get a car, as the supermarket is a mile and a half away. Some might consider that walking distance, but Bahamas temperatures in July shortened our walking range considerably. Then again, the tropical climate only makes it that more enjoyable to swim directly off your own steps into the ocean, or in the waterfront pool. In short, I recommend this house without hesitation.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay Gerald and hope to see you back at Waters Edge. Or perhaps we will visit one of your Washington DC properties one day.

When we were booking our vacation, we wanted a house that was on the ocean, but convenient to activities and restaurants (especially Atlantis). We needed space as we have teenagers and we wanted the option to cook. This place was perfect. It provided what we wanted plus more. The pool and deck area was awesome. We spent several hours looking out over the ocean from the patio, reading our books, and just laying around the pool. The snorkeling off the back of the house was amazing. It was a first for my kids. The inside of the house was very comfortable and spacious. It was more than enough space for our family. The kitchen had everything that we needed. We rented a van and explored the island on our own schedule every day. We spent a day in Atlantis which was nice, but pricey. We found a gym and worked out several times during the week. We have traveled to many different countries and stayed in many places. The water and view at Water's Edge is definitely one of the best. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to kick back, relax, and be in control of your own destiny.

Owner response: Thanks for your review Kaye! We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay. We really hope to see you back again at Water's Edge.

A beautiful house in a stunning peaceful location, away from but accessible to the main Nassau tourist attractions. A real pleasure to sit or lie on the terrace for hours gazing at the azure clear water, the boats going in and out of Nassau Harbour and the islands.. The house itself is spotlessly clean, beautifully and tastefully appointed, with plenty of space and all the modern conveniences that you could ever need for a relaxing and hassle free holiday location. The description was accurate in terms of facilities but under-stated just how relaxing the place is. The owners provided an excellent personal service and suggestions for attractions if you can drag yourself away, Although Atlantis is a must see the best expeditions for me were down to Harbour Island and the fast boat trip to one of the uninhabited Cays (apart from the BBQ and Bar!). I would definitely recommend this house as the perfect holiday location.

We had the most relaxing, enjoyable holiday at 'Water's Edge' with our family. The location is unbelieveable with the living area opening up to 180 degree view of the crystal clear, sparking ocean. We swam and snorkeled in front of the house (walk down your own steps into the ocean!) while the kids ran between the ocean and pool. The property is super private with a ocean front living area complete with outdoor bar! The garden area behind the home which is great for the kids too. The inside is gorgeous with amazing high ceilings and exposed beams. The house is large with a modern kitchen. Several of us prepared food together with no problems. We ate outside every night but inside has comfortable dining for 6+ adults. Super clean, tastefully decorated, the home is more than we expected. The living area is very comfortable. We loved the master bedroom bathroom with a soaking tube over looking the ocean, it is breath taking. Newly renovated, spacious, just stunning! Nearby is a supermarket and shopping area with Wendy's and Pizza. We had intended to do more activities away from the house with Paradise Island and the legendary Atlantis Resort just 6 miles away but fell in love with the location and enjoyed walking a mile or so to a local beach for sand castles with the kids. We did drive 2 miles further in the east to a larger, white sandy beach that was quiet and tranquil. Shelling was fun and the kids poked around for crabs in the exposed rocks. We recommend a car, however you may only use it to go out for food and not much else! We look forward to going again and hope our elderly parents can join us next time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We can't say enough about our this fantastic holiday home. The owners were very helpful with advice on the local attractions which improved our overall experience tremendously. The house was immaculate when we arrived as were the grounds and pool. Sipping our drinks on the patio under the palms while listening to the ocean beneath our feet became a daily ritual that I still dream of. We were only a few minutes from Paradise Island casinos and attractions. Also just a few minutes away was Cabbage Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to. If you're looking for a tranquil, tropical island getaway, this is the place. Fantastic, and we give it five huge stars !!! We can't wait untill we go back next year.

One word describes this property, “PARADISE!” I stayed at Water’s Edge in October of last year 2011 right before my birthday and it certainly will not be my last stay there!!! I wasn’t sure what to expect as I have never staying in a home rental internationally before, but our stay was amazing. What caught my eye first was the “postcard perfect” views. Pictures can’t even do the views justice. The open concept of the house really allowed you to see the ocean from most of the living space, whether sitting at the dining room table, relaxing on the couch in the living room, waking up in bed, enjoying coffee on the bistro table area, or even taking bath! The house was in great condition and very clean. Kitchen looked like it was renovated recently and is bigger than my kitchen at home. While I fell in love with the tropical feel of the house, my husband’s favorite part of this house was the entertainment bar area in the back. We still talk about drinking wine after dinner in the back looking out onto the bluest ocean water we’ve ever seen. The pool was also lovely but nothing beats the ocean water on your feet on a hot day. The gate around the property gave me an extra sense of security since I didn’t know what to expect regarding the surrounding area, but the area was great – a row of lovely homes. Water’s Edge – I’ll be back!!!

Owner response: Thanks for staying with us Michelle. I know Water's Edge looks forward to your return :-)

We had all these plans for the things we were going to do while in Nassau but we ended up not straying very far from the house. The view is amazing and I got up every morning and took my coffee out to watch the sunrise (husband stayed in bed). We also enjoyed the view every evening at dusk when the sky went this amazing pink and the clouds formations were like a movie. We swam a lot in the pool. Loved the fountain - dipping my head under that stream to cool down was perfect. We also took the boat out so my husband could snorkel and I swam around the reefs. I am a nervous swimmer but the water was so calm and shallow and we could always see the bottom that I surprised myself with spending a lot of time in the ocean. The house is beautiful and exactly like in the photos - so large and airy we didn't even turn the air-conditioning on. We walked to the grocery store and enjoyed the amazing views of Atlantis at the top of the hill on the way and I enjoyed cooking in that kitchen so much. We also used the "freebie" car and drove over to see the sights of Paradise Island. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had and I would not hesitate to come back to Water's Edge again.

An absolutely stunning location and gorgeous house. The house was spacious and beautifully decorated. The owners ensured it was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The bedrooms were large with plenty of storage space. A great location for exploring the island. An oasis of calm to retire to after exploring the island during the day. The island itself offers many varied activities to suit all ages and tastes, whether you like exploring the history of a place, sunning yourself on a beautiful beach or enjoying a meal whilst watching the world go by, I'm sure you will find plenty of things to do. On the other hand, if your intention is to do nothing at all then you need go no further than the patio of the house for one of the best views on the island. Hard to beat enjoying a coffee on the patio as the sun rises across the ocean, then dining alfresco as the sun sets in the evening. I recommend the property without hesitation. Stay here if you would like a slice of paradise!
