My family and I have been to San Francisco quite a few times and have always stayed in hotels in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Since we would be in the City for a week this time, we decided to give the Fairmont Residence at Ghirardelli Square a try so we (myself, my two grown sons and my daughter-in-law) could all be together in a more residential setting. It was a great decision plus it was cheaper than 3 hotel rooms for a week! The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly and efficient and the location can't be beat! The sleek and comfortable bayview room was the perfect size to accommodate all of us. We took advantage of the free breakfast most mornings and the free wine tasting on most evenings. The free shuttle service via Cadillac Escalade came in handy when we went to a Giants game or when we were going out to dinner saving us money we would have spent on taxi service otherwise! In the evenings we sat outside on one of the decks and enjoyed people watching in Ghirardelli Square while we drank a glass of wine. I've used VRBO before but this experience surpassed our expectations! Stephanie is a joy to work with, thank you Stephanie - we will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: We are family with 4 young kids and we live out of state. When we are in San Francisco, we love to be outside as much as possible. This includes taking the kids to the park, shopping and eating in the Marina, taking runs along Crissy Field or taking our bikes over the GG Bridge.
Why the Owner Chose Fisherman's Wharf:
We looked at several properties before deciding to purchase at the Fairmont. We loved the proximity to cable cars, the beach, parks, restaurants, shopping. We love sitting on the Mustard Terrace and taking in the views by the fire.

The staff at the Fairmont always make our stay easy and try to accommodate all of our needs. They are responsive and knowledgable. We also love the house car that can take and pick you from dinner - a nice perk. And, the included breakfasts are great.
