Cabin in the Red River Gorge
*****Please check Calendar for available dates, it is kept updated*****
Quiet, simple but not primitive. The kitchen is stocked with the basic cooking equipment with a gas stove and the bathroom is beautiful with a large walk in tiled shower. The bathroom also has an incinerator toilet. You can look it up online if you have any questions http://www.incinolet.com/index.htm.
The road to the cabin is gravel and has steep places with sharp curves. It is passable in car if taken slow. A four-wheel-drive is recommended in the winter when it snows.
While staying in our cabin you can eat at the famous Miguel’s Pizza or at the Rock House Café. You can entertain yourself by visiting Natural Bridge and hike on the many trails or ride the sky lift. If you are up for big adventure there is a new Red River Gorge zipline (check them out on their web site). In the evening you can even go to the Drive-in for a movie. If you like to antique shop there is the Stanton Antique Mall.

We had a very nice weekend stay in this cabin. It was wonderful to get away for a couple days and relax in such a beautiful area. We had a chance to visit the Natural Bridge nearby, and there were many hiking opportunities in the surrounding area. The cabin was clean, the owner was very helpful, and I would certainly recommend the property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I just spent one night at this cabin for an anniversary getaway. Although we asked for last minute reservations, the owner was kind to us and helped us get in to the cabin at short notice. I can't give enough praise to this little cabin. It has so much personality and the owner has paid great attention to detail - both in the cabin's floor plan and design. It was both rustic and comfortable. They have books, movies, board games, and a guitar available for anyone to pick up and use. They also had spices, drinks, and some great coffee stocked in the kitchen. Don't let the "Kentucky trip 2012_Natural Bridge" sway you from this hidden paradise of a cabin. Neither my wife nor I noticed any musty smell. $450 for the week is a steal. I hope (and plan) to go back in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your nice review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to renting to you in the future.

The cabin was quite cozy and very secluded. We had to travel up a very lengthy gravel hill that had sharp turns and is very narrow. Two mid-size cars could not have passed each other. Note...do not travel up on a loaded down motorcycle. The cabin was clean, but the musty smell hit you in the face as soon as you opened the door. So those with allergies...beware, there is no AC either. It was 94 the day we got there and the ceiling fans were barely doable. The bathroom was quite unique and loved the tiled shower. The visit to Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge was quite enjoyable, which is what we went to see. The food at the lodge at Natural Bridge State Park was very bland. Miquel's Pizza was rather tasty. If you want privacy and rustic this cabin would be to your liking. After trekking up and down the hill three times on the first night we decided that the place wasn't for us and forfeited our second night's stay at the cabin. The clogged head from the musty smell was enough for one night. The cabin definitely needs a De-humidifier in it. We also learned from this experience, we need to ask more questions before renting any place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Glaucomys Suite was such a fabulous and magical cabin for a weekend getaway. We had complete privacy and all the amenities you would need for a weekend of relaxing, hiking, and enjoying all the Red River Gorge area has to offer. The cabin is rustic, yet exquisite. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
