Sedro-Woolley house description
Come Experience Life on a Small Working Farm and Enjoy Cozy Comfort at a Farm Stay in Beautiful Skagit County, Washington.
Our 30-acre farm is home to a herd of heritage Irish Dexter cattle (the smallest breed of cattle) and Shetland sheep (also a small breed). A very social pot-bellied pig, chickens, miniature donkeys, barn cats, and our collie keep life at the farm active and fun. Meet our animals, help with feeding and farm chores, collect eggs, brush the donkeys, or just relax in the peaceful country setting.
Our Farm House was built at the turn of the century and has been completely remodeled to offer comfort as well as all the modern conveniences you might desire. The 3-bedroom, 1-bath Farm House will comfortably sleep 6-8 guests: A master bedroom with a queen-size bed, a second guest bedroom with a double 4-poster bed, a third guest bedroom with a daybed and pop-up trundle, and a queen sofa bed in the living room.
The newly-remodeled bathroom has a full-size tub with shower, pedestal sink, and toilet. Crisp white towels are provided for farm stay guests.
The kitchen is fully equipped so that you can prepare your own meals—there are two ovens, electric stove top, full-size refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, numerous small electrical appliances (including a coffee maker, toaster, and blender), washer and dryer. Dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware are all provided.
Our Farm Stay is located in Sedro-Woolley, in beautiful Skagit County, Washington, about half-way between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia.

I loved it here alone, just me & the animals. The house is lovely, the bed is wonderful, it was nice not to have wifi or tv & just read & write. It was a great birthday present to myself & I will return soon. I had good fun antiquing close by.

No detail was missed in this perfect location. The farm house has been beautifully decorated and supplied, and everything was in place for a relaxing time in the country. Jean and Terry were wonderful, compassionate hosts... we had great email communication, and fun conversations while on the farm. Luna the Malamute enjoyed the farm rodents, while a handful of my young adult 'children' loved feeding the pig, lounging under the apple tree, playing games in the living room (they had a crack at Tiddly Winks), and just relaxing in the atmosphere. We ventured out to Burlington to visit some fruit stands, the mall, and an excellent Italian restaurant (Johnny Carino's - Monday family meals are awesome!). The farm is a delightful place to "get away from it all", yet have quick accessibilty to the "all" when wished.

We chose to stay at Hoehn Bend Farm because we wanted our pre-schooler to experience a slice of farm life, without having to drive for hours from Seattle. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, or more welcoming hosts. The farm-house has recently been renovated, is exceptionally clean and well-stocked with thoughtful extras. Our daughter loved finding the basket of farm picture books in her bedroom, and the trundle bed worked perfectly for her. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. We loved having breakfast on the deck, and dinner at the outside picnic table (cooked on the gas grill provided). Jean and Terry were very generous with their time, including us in feeding the animals, planting gourds, and giving us a tour of the farm in their farm jeep. We would also recommend the pony rides at Lang's Farm in Mt.Vernon (our preschooler went on a wonderful trail ride around a lake and through a little forest) and the Saturday Farmer's market, and Coop Food Store in Mt. Vernon too. We made a detour to La Conner on the way up which was a great place to stop for lunch. If you're looking for a family-friendly, easily-accessible farm-stay then Hoehn Bend Farm would be ideal for you. We will certainly be returning.

About the owner: Retired from white-collar professional careers, Terry has returned to his roots in Skagit County and to farming. Jean is learning to be a farmer in the only way possible: by just doing it. Our animals--the cows, sheep, and pig--are friendly and social and are used to being around people. Many can be hand-fed treats and enjoy scratches. We welcome visitors who are interested in learning about farm life. We delight in introducing children to farm animals and the wide-open space of our country setting.
Why the Owner Chose Sedro-Woolley:
The farm is nestled in a lovely valley with hills on both sides. The setting is peaceful and serene. And yet, it is only about 20 minutes from I-5, the major north-south freeway in Washington State. The farm is located in a rich farming county where Farmer's Markets and farm stands abound. U-pick opportunities are plentiful in the Summer and Fall. Numerous recreational activities are near by: Boating, fishing, and rafting on the Skagit River; golfing; hiking; mountain and road biking; horseback riding; skiing and snowboarding (at Mount Baker, 1.5 hours away); skateboarding.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Wake up slowly and wander out to watch the farm animals go through their morning routines. Help with morning or evening feedings (if you choose to do so). Learn that watching cows eat is an amazingly soothing experience. Wander through the field or down the road, catching glimpses of small farm life at every farm. Appreciate a slower pace of life, the smell of freshly-mown grass, and a dazzling display of stars on clear nights. Local and regional major activities abound: Woodfest in Sedro-Woolley (March) Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon (April) Loggerodeo in Sedro-Woolley (July) Festival of Family Farms (throughout the county in October)
