Pentwater cabin description
BOOKINGS FOR SUMMER 2013 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNTIL MARCH. PLEASE CHECK WITH US THEN FOR AVAILABILITY.
This spacious cabin in the woods near the shores of Lake Michigan is perfect for your family’s get-away this summer. With a large family kitchen, deck, screened-in porch, four bedrooms and a large great room, you’ll have plenty of space to spread out and relax.
The sandy shores of Lake Michigan are just a short 75-yard walk from the cabin down a wooded trail. Enjoy long summer days of swimming, playing or relaxing in the sun, and walking along the pristine beach, followed by long nights with stunning sunsets and starry skies by a campfire.
This vacation opportunity will allow you to unplug from your busy life (no tv, though the cabin does have wireless wi-fi access), and focus on and reconnect with your family. Whether you are playing a game of cards or ping-pong, swimming, walking or tossing a Frisbee on the beach, visiting Pentwater for shopping or dinner, go-carting or playing mini-golf, you will build family connections and memories that will last a lifetime. This family cabin was built in the 60's and has a rustic feel. Our rental price accurately represents the very basic quality of the cabin: it is nothing fancy but comfortable and homey.
Located just one mile from Pentwater, and 12 miles from Ludington, the cabin is convenient to shopping, dining and a wide array of recreational activities.

Clean and cozy getaway!
Clean and cozy getaway!
We were excited to come to Pentwater, but were blown away once we got here! It was a little difficult to find at first (granted, we arrived late at night and were navigating the single lane road through the woods in the dark), and we did have some delays/errors in communication while trying to book the cabin, but all very minor issues. The first thing we noticed was that the cabin was immaculately clean (amazing)! As we explored the house, we totally fell in love with the character-- the cabin has been in the owner's family for many years, and the place is filled with homemade art and nostalgic touches (we especially love the wall under the stairs with everyone's heights marked over the years). It's furnished with lots of mismatched antiques, and is as cozy as can be. The place is pretty campy and ecclectic, which we loved. The house has a fairly well stocked kitchen, and has a seemingly limitless supply of freshly laundered linens (bath towels/washcloths, beach towels, sheets, blankets, etc). There's some miscellaneous beach supplies on the screened porch, including four very comfortable folding beach chairs (they even have a carrying strap), and a dresser by the door holds a tray of assorted sunscreens and bugsprays. Lots of reading material (very diverse! And lots of books suitable for kiddos), board games, puzzles, ping pong... we've not had a moment of boredom. Although there's lots of neighboring cottages, the woods give you plenty of privacy (as does the fact that the cabin is a bit uphill from the other near dwellings). Everyone mostly keeps to themselves, but seem friendly. The "neighborhood" is very dog-friendly-- almost everyone seems to have dogs with them at the beach. We brought two of our own, and they've loved it here. The beach is exceptionally beautiful, and the path down to the water is very pretty. (It's worth noting there are no stairs, so the trip back up the slope and over the fairly steep sand dunes could be difficult for anyone with leg/back pain or mobility issues). The water is ridiculously clear- you can see down to the bottom as far out as you can swim. We've done quite a bit of beach running, and some of our group have gone mountain biking. The town is charming (especially the local history museum!) and has lots of tasty restaurants. Plenty to do here! Our stay is only half-over, and we're already looking forward to coming back next summer!

About the owner: This beloved cabin was home to my family every summer while I was growing up. The memories that were created there for myself and my five brothers are truly precious. Visiting the cabin, now with my own family, is almost like stepping back in time.
Why the Owner Chose Pentwater:
Originally built as a dining hall for a girl-scout camp, our parents bought the cabin because it was large enough for my big family with six boys. Having the woods all around and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world just a short walk away made it the perfect place to grow up.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
If you are looking for an affordable and basic place to call home for your vacation, you will appreciate our rustic cabin in the woods.
