From the initial booking through our departure this was an amazing and seamless experience. I would recommend this property to anyone that needs a rental in Anchorage. The house was spotless and very updated. It has all of the necessities, such as: towels, dishes, cookware, wifi, dishwasher, washer, and dryer. Paul and Darlene were wonderful to work with; very quick to answer questions and they checked in (via email) to make sure our stay was going well. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better property or property owners. I hope there is availability so we can stay here during our next trip through Anchorage. We got lucky, the Northern Lights were out and were visible from the property (I am not sure how common that is). Once we spotted them we drove north to get a better few. We also saw two moose down the street. It was a real alaskan experience for my in-laws (from the east coast) that spent the week with us. I will also mention the restaurants we ate at because they were also wonderful and for anyone out of the area they might be worth checking out. Here they are in no particular order (equally delicious): Milano's, Serrano's, Moose's Tooth, Middle Way Cafe, Snow City Cafe, Fletcher's, Spenard Roadhouse, and Table 6. All in all, a great trip to Anchorage! I would recommend this property again and hope to stay in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: What a great vacation complete with Northern Lights and moose! It's great to hear good feedback and it was our pleasure to have these guests who left the property in such good shape. We certainly are looking forward to hearing from them when they plan another trip to Anchorage.

I had the pleasure of staying at Paul and Darlene's place on Sabrina St in Anchorage for nearly 4 months while I was on extended temporary duty for my job. I found the house on VRBO, and it is everything I could want in a place away from home. All the comforts, and plenty of space of 1- 2 people for a long stay, using only 1 bedroom - and plenty of room for 4 if using the whole place! They were very helpful and worked to make sure I had what I needed, including snow removal during these winter months. The furnishings and decor are fresh and modern, the paint, flooring and fixtures in excellent shape. Helpful travel and information book for a first time visitor also made looking for things to do and places to check out very easy. Large flat screen TV with cable also made the colder, darker days entertaining when I stayed in. Lovely place, with very gracious and helpful hosts. The best in town!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: The pleasure was ours. We are delighted that our home worked so well as your home away from home and thanks for treating it that way!

Our first impressions of the house were of luxury and cleanliness. The furniture, linens and kitchen supplies were high quality; the decorations gave it a warm "magazine photo" feeling. The beds were firm but very comfortable, pillows were prefect, and the linens were luxurious. The owners very thoughtfully contacted us each time they planned to come over (to mow the lawn and put out the garbage cans) to make sure the time was convenient for us. We had a large family gathering at the house twice. The table easily seats eight people. (We ate in two shifts- children then adults) The kitchen is small but still worked perfectly for our large crowd because there is a bar the length of the counter perfect for buffet eating. The house was easy to keep clean with hardwood floors throughout all but the bedrooms. A broom and vacuum were provided for clean-ups. The laundry room was convenient, as was the iron and ironing board. The back yard was very nice to have when the family was over. A small barbecue served us well. Lawn chairs and barbecue tools made it very easy to entertain in the back yard. A large parking pad beside the house made parking easy, even when other family members joined us. The house is located at the end of a dead-end street making it quiet and safer for kids playing in the yard. Overall, renting this house for a month was a wonderful experience. We hope to rent it again when we come up in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We really appreciate guests like these and we look forward to having them come back again when they can visit. So happy they found the house met their needs.

Your place was perfect for our week in Anchorage. We had space to work in the mornings and then go out for a hike in the afternoons. We even had the Olympics on the big screen as we were working in the evenings. It was great place for mixing work and vacation -- close to our meetings in town, and with easy access to the Kenai Peninsula. Thanks also for planning some great weather for us. We even had a perfect day out on Resurrection Bay and got some great pictures of birds, whales, and porpoises -- and views, of course.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: It was a pleasure to have these guests in our rental and we are so glad that they found it to be the perfect place for their business/pleasure trip. We hope they will come again!

We can not ask for a better place to stay for three nights. The places are extremely clean and comfortable. You probably can find anything you need in this unit. The unit lies at the end of the street in a very quiet neighborhood, so you don't get a lot of traffic. I also would like to mention that the host Darlene was really kind and helpful for helping us with the reservation and sightseeing recommendation. She also put a brand new crib in the house for our 6 month old daughter. We have a group of six people including two kids. We will definitely stay in this unit next time we are in town. Wonderful stay !!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: We are so pleased that these guests want to come back after their stay here. It was a pleasure to have them. We hope visitors to Anchorage will get the most out of their time here and we enjoy helping them do so.

We stayed there for 3 days in July. Initially, we were looking for a hotel, but for three people the place is actually cheaper than a hotel, and is a thousand times more comfortable and homy. The apartment is very nice, everything is brand new and shiny. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay - plenty of bed sheets and towels, big TV, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, and wireless internet access, to name just a few. There's also a BBQ behind the house, but we didn't really use it as we were outside the whole day and didn't have much time for cooking. The apartment has 2BR and has a sleeping sofa in the living room. We were a group of 3 and didn't really need the second bedroom, so we took advantage of the discounted option to rent the place as a 1BR only. The person who slept on the sofa reported it was comfortable :) On the minus side, the house is a little far away from downtown, but we had a car so that was not a problem for us. Supermarket is a short driving distance so that was convenient too.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: These were wonderful guests! We are so happy that they found the home better than a hotel. Yes, downtown is about 10-15 minutes by car via the highway depending on which part of downtown you want.

It looked as if we were walking into an HGTV Designed to Sell space! We really appreciated the cleanliness of the space and it was very well stocked with linens, kitchen needs, paper products and cleaning supplies. It is easily accessed from the city and also has easy access to shopping and dining opportunities. It's a quiet neighborhood. Overall, we are extremely pleased. The owners were very helpful as we were planning our time here. Two suggestions: a grab bar for access into/out of the bathtub and one or two additional suitcase stands. Thanks to the owners for providing a great space!!!Owner response: It was a pleasure to have these guests and we are so glad they had a great stay. We appreciate the good review and the helpful suggestions, too.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1983
About the owner: At age 8 or 9, I saw a magazine photo of Alaska's Mt. McKinley and at that time I determined to come to Alaska which I did at age 17 and been here 40 years. I love this great land and all it has to offer with its majestic scenery and amazing wildlife.
Why the Owner Chose Anchorage:
I purchased this home in Anchorage when it was new. Back then, it sat on the edge of town and now it is situated in a safe, quiet residential area with neighborhood moose visitors.

Stay in a spacious and fully equipped house rather than just a hotel or condo. Situated at the end of a quiet residential street, it offers plenty of off-street parking right at the front door and a private backyard with a grill.
A 48 inch HD TV with 100-channel cable and a BluRay player provides entertainment.
Wi-fi internet and a phone with free U.S. long distance calls (excluding international calls).
