Port Lavaca house description
This outstanding home on Caranchua Bay is located in Port Alto halfway between Port Lavaca and Palacious just off Highway 35. Enjoy great Speckled Trout fishing off the pier in the backyard or just relax on the large deck with a great view of the bay in the shade of a large oak tree.
A Super Walmart, H.E.B., bait, and gas are 15 minutes south in Port Lavaca, which also has several excellent restaurants. Port Alto is a community where children play and parents can relax and escape the fast pace of life.
North of Port Alto in Palacious, also 15 minutes away there are two boat shops. Both towns have beautilful parks with beaches and play areas for children.
This two bedroom house features split bedroom style, with separate bedrooms in each area. The house will sleep six comfortably in beds and two additional guests could sleep on the couches. The large master bedroom has a king size bed with two windows giving a great view of the bay. The second bedroom is over 350 sq.ft. with two full size beds and complete privacy from the rest of the house. Each area of the house has a bathroom. The 2nd bath is a shower only bath and houses the washer and dryer.
NOTE: Not a handicapped friendly property, there are step ups to kitchen and living area from entry. This said, we have had wheel chaired individuals stay and maneuver nicely.
Applicances are Refrigerator/Freezer, Dishwasher, Washer, and Dryer.
A free boat ramp is located right in the subdivision with some of the best fishing on the Gulf Coast. Twenty minutes by boat from this ramp will put you at the mouth of the Port O' Connor Jetties opening into the Gulf of Mexico.
Bird watching is incredible, not only from the pier in the backyard, but also all over the bay.
If you are looking to get away from the fast pace of city life for a few days this home on Caranchua Bay is just the place.

Such a Charming house and Peaceful stay
Such a Charming house and Peaceful stay
The house was charming, and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. It was a bit of a drive out of town, which was a nice alternative to a hotel. The area was so quiet and peaceful, and the house was comfortable and lovely. Port Lavaca was a great alternative to other beaches on Texas' coasts. There was only one public beach area, but it wasnt crowded and it was very relaxing. There were also other fun things to do at Lighthouse Beach area. The bird watching was amazing! I recommend this house to anyone interested in visiting a quieter beach, bird watching from your back porch (saw a skunk too!) and traveling the area. Thank you for the lovely experience

Great Coastal Getaway
Great Coastal Getaway
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The spacious kitchen, living, and dining areas, and the shaded deck were wonderful when we had family members over for meals. As stated in the description, it is about 15 miles from restaurants and shopping, but that was not a problem for us. We were impressed with the area where the cottage is located. It is very quiet and peaceful. We saw quail, "whistling" ducks, rabbits, and other wildlife while we were there. We would definitely stay at this property again.

The home was absolutely what we needed. It was clean, comfortable and very inviting. My family and I totally enjoyed the entire time. My husband and son spent much time out on the pier. Thanks so much for the great stay. There is nothing I could say bad about it. We will definitely be staying there again. I would recommend this home to everyone. In fact, I already have. Thanks again.

This was the perfect home for our trip to the area. Our trip was business related, but we wanted to be able to relax and enjoy the bay. Your home was perfect for us. Will miss watching the sunset over the water and the pelicans fishing just beyond the dock. Although it was just the two of us on this trip, we will definitely look at booking again and including additional family members on the next trip down.

Owner response: Laura, Thank you for your review. We are thrilled that you were able to enjoy some of our favorite parts of a stay there. We do hope you and your family will have a chance to return. Blessings, Sandy and Wayne
Sandy, We really enjoyed our stay in your cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. We did not cook except to boil some shrimp but all kitchen items were there if we wanted to do more cooking. We went to Port Lavaca(20 min drive) to eat. The beds were very comfortable. The view was wonderful. We would love to return.

Birding vacationGuest comment entered by owner
Hi Sandy, We had such a great time birding up and down the coast. Your home is perfect. There wasn’t a thing we could have needed or wanted – except our grandkids. We certainly are believers in Texas trust. We have rented homes from VRBO all over the country, and we have never found one where we didn’t have to pay a deposit up front in case of damage. Nor have we stayed where there weren’t pages of rules. Thank you for sharing your home and making us feel like friends. The town we live in is smaller than Port Alto. Twenty minutes away is our “Port Lavaca” – the fishing and agricultural town where we shop. It is mentioned in the “Coastal Living” magazine on your coffee table (June 2012).
