Stayed in this property for 3 nights- one night with 6 adults and 20 month old, the other two nights with just the 4 adults and the baby. Although it is described as "rustic" in several reviews, it was a little more run-down than we expected. we used the house as a home base to explore the town of Woodstock, do some hiking around Kaaterskill falls, and do some apple picking at Greig farm. PROS- loved having the farm animals on the property. Our toddler loved the goats, horse and chickens. The location was great, about a 2 mile drive to Woodstock center, and several shops and restaurants. The owner was on site, responsive to a concern. nice size property, relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. CONS- a little run-down for what we expected for the price. when you pay a high cleaning fee you expect it to be clean- there were cobwebs with spiders in most of the rooms, an empty beer bottle on the porch when we arrived, stained towels, a dirty shirt between the couch cushions. the toilet seat was broken, one leg of the table broke off (although the owner did fix this quickly). a couch that was smelly, that none of us wanted to sit on. we also had a lack of hot water. although there were a number of us staying there-definitely not enough hot water in the morning for even 2 or 3 of us to take under 5 minute showers. overall we enjoyed our weekend, but would only return with some improvements. would also recommend that owner add some board games, books, cards, etc and maps/tourist info. I have stayed in about 5 homeaway rentals, and all of the others have included these touches, which add to the experience.

Owner response: I have to say I'm a bit stunned by this review. To say there were cobwebs and spiders in most of the rooms is patently absurd. Period. Is it in the country? Yes. Is it clean? Yes. I have never had this feedback, and can't speak to the lost t shirt issue as I wasn't present for its discovery. The table leg issue was dealt with immediately as they said, yes, but overall I think this paints an inaccurate picture of why the vast majority of experiences have been and will continue to be. Also- I have never heard of hot water issues before now and the heater is less than 1 year old. I am sorry that these folks weren't as happy as they expressed to me on site. They seemed absolutely content and I did have numerous interactions with them during their stay. All I can say is that I am sorry that they were less than thrilled and I will continue to try & improve as I go along. M

We had a three day get away in the Catskills. The cottage is ideally located to explore the Hudson Valley.Olana was a wonderful experience. The nature breathtaking. Although initially a couple of the amenities were absent, the owner was immediately responding to our concerns and acted to remediate. We enjoyed having the goats and chickens coming to visit. We are planning a return trip in the fall

My husband, infant and two dogs had a wonderful stay for three nights in July. The owner is onsite, and very friendly - and the cabin is rustic and a great spot for cooking and relaxing.

A few of us rented cars and drove from New York City up to this cozy cottage in October. Upon arrival, this two story cottage was heated and welcoming from the rainy drive up. Linens, towels, coffee, were all provided and after a quick stop to the grocery up the road, chili was on the stove and the covered porch gave safeway to the dreary day. Plenty of indoor seating around the wood-burning stove to play games, read, etc. Not too far a drive from Hunters Mountain for a decent hike. Also, neighboring cabins host a recording studio for local and traveling musicians - a great group was there during our stay! The owner was extremely knowedgable of trails and things to do and was so helpful. If you are wanting to grill etc, just double check with the owner all equiptment is there. We had to call a few times to get certain things that may have been overlooked in preparation for our arrival. Overall, incredibly wonderful stay, burried in wildlife and off the beaten path. Will most certainly be coming back!

Great place, enjoyed our time there.

We loved this little cottage and spent several days there while showing at HITS. The location was great, the cottage was quiet and we had more than enough room for everyone. We would stay there again, my daughter and her friends especially enjoyed looking for the llama as we left each morning.

Spend most of July in the cabin and it was a perfect month. Very close to town but with its own little pond and the farm, this place feels miles away. Great host, everything taken care of and I will definitely return soon.

We were 2 adults and one child age 6 and we absolutely loved staying here. We were able to go in the swimming hole out back just off the deck. I am 5'7" and the water came up to my waist so it was perfect and my daughter was able to play with her sand pail and shovels so she really enjoyed it too. Sitting on the deck at night was so nice, seeing stars, hearing the frogs, lightening bugs and we seen some deer pass through at dusk to come to drink from the creek. I definately want to come back !! Mike was very helpful with any thing we had questions about and the farm animals are adorable. Mikes property is like a quaint village unto itself.

We had a wonderful weekend at the farm cottage... The house is very comfortable (we were 4 adults, 2 kids and a baby), clean and and fully equipped, we cooked and had BBQs on the porch.... Michael was kind and extremely helpful with any question or concern (we had some issues with the bath and he solved them immediately upon request). The best thing about the house is the outside terrace, overlooking the creek, and the forest, you can sit there for hours watching beautiful birds fly by, deer (we had a little Bambi too), frogs, fish and fireflies... For the kids the best of all were the farm animals (very friendly - pigs, goats, a horse, some chicken and a lama!) and the playground - all simply magical - we'll come again, for sure! Karin

My husband and I stayed at the Farm Cottage on the spur of the moment. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! The animals are far enough away that you don't know they are there, but being an animal lover, my husband and I went over and visited the barn every day! The cottage is comfortable and quiet; the best part of the day was enjoying drinks on the huge porch and listening to the bull frogs and the sound of the water. The listing was accurate (everything was clean, well-maintained), etc. My only recommendation would be to add another couch in the living area so that larger groups can sit together. However, the deck is really where you want to spend your time, and there is plenty of seating out there! Michael was a wonderful and helpful host, and he gave us lots of good suggestions for places to eat. We ate at the Bear Cafe, Joshua's, Violette (highly recommend) and the Red Onion. Woodstock is a great getaway from the city, and the Farm Cottage really completes the experience! (highly recommend).
