Enjoyed this charming condo again for the second year in a row. This is situated in the heart of the Beautiful Historic District. Very close to everything and easily accessible to the entire area. Dot bus and visitors center close by. There's is no need for a car, just get out and walk to see the city. Wipp and Stephanie are excellent hosts and readily available for anything you might need have several suggestions of places to visit. I absolutely recommend the Savannah Theater, was excellent and extremely entertaining. This condo is just what the two of us were looking for. I whole heartedly suggest renting this lovely and historic home! Thanks to Wipp and Stephanie.

I am former travel agent of 25+ years and have traveled all over the world and this property rates at the top of my list, along with the city of Savannah! I was in town to visit my daughter who is a student at SCAD and this is the perfect location to see all the sights of Savannah and be close to SCAD dorms. I had a car (the parking in the back of the property is a bonus!), but you really don't need one in Savannah, unless you want to take a day trip out to Tybee Island. The owners of this property in the Bird Baldwin House have provided a lovely accommodation. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed sitting out on the back deck in the morning with my coffee and in the evening with my glass of wine. If you have children with you there is a pullout sofa in the living room with an extra TV, so plenty of room. The pictures provided are spot on! April is the perfect time of year to visit. Everything was in full bloom. Loved my time spent at Bird Baldwin! Will be going back.

We are relatively frequent visitors to Savannah and have stayed in both apartments and B&Bs. The 1838 was by far the best value for the money. Both the description and photos were good indicators and we were not disappointed. We found the apartment clean, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. Its Liberty Street location is in the middle of Savannah's Historic District and each apartment has its own parking space, a non-trivial consideration. We tried Circa 1875, a new French bistro, this visit and were delighted. Stephanie was very helpful before, during and after our visit.

Really enjoyed our stay at the condo...everything was as described and we would definitely stay there again. We felt we were a part of old Savannah in this beautifully restored historic dwelling. We took the city tour; ate lots of delicious shrimp and grits, fried tomatoes and collard greens at Old Pink House, Belfords, and Shrimp Factory; and learned a lot about the Civil War. Just sorry that we didn't plan a longer stay.

We have stayed in many places in Savannah from B&B's to hotels to vacation rentals, and we keep coming back here. The location and amenities can't be beat. The condo is walking distance to everything: City Market, River Street, the shops on Broughton, Forsyth Park, and many restaurants, squares, and tours. The condo is very spacious with a large bedroom, a pull out couch, and two TVs. The kitchen has whatever you need should you need to prepare something. The jetted tub helps soothe away any day spent walking too much. The only downside is if you have mobility challenges. It is a third floor walk up, but we found the steps easy enough, even at the end of a long day.

My husband and I had the opportunity to spend several nights in the Bird-Baldwin house. It was wonderful. The location put us within walking distance from all of the attractions in Savannah. I would recommend this condo to any couple hoping to just park their car for a few days/nights and walk around the beautiful historic district.

For our first trip to Savannah, I am so happy we stayed at the Bird Baldwin House! Beautiful top floor unit with great, spacious rooms with high ceilings, cozy decor and everything we needed to make a home away from home! Plus the location couldn't be better - easy walk to shops, bus lines, restaurants, bars, waterfront area and all the great parks and stunning homes in the Historic District! Owners were super great while we were there - gave great accommodation and were easily accessible for questions. Loved the indoor hot tub, the gorgeous architecture of the house and the amenities. Could have stayed for several more weeks. This is definitely a place I'd recommend and anytime we are in Savannah, we'll stay here. So much more charm in this place than the box hotels in the area - couldn't have asked for a better spot! Plus the kitchenette made it simple to do coffee/breakfast "at home" and we had many long relaxing afternoons sitting on the back porch, staring out at the breathtaking trees and great buildings surrounding the house. We enjoyed many romantic evening walks through the various squares and it was an easy 5 min jaunt down to River street where we had out first taste of low country boil! This was great since we opted not to have a car while we were there - didn't need one staying in this spot. Thanks Bird Baldwin House for helping us have a great time in Savannah!

Place was nearly perfect. Only down side was street noise (as others have said). But in fairness that is part of charm of an old house. Large tub, fireplace, king bed-very romantic. Location was great. minutes from anywhere you want to go from River Street to Abercorn Cemetary to John the Baptist Church to City Market. All walkable distance. Already planning our return trip. Note to elderly or handicap, back porch stairs are a bit tight and steeper than normal however front entrance is much easier. Owners are very fair and easy to deal with all my questions.

Loved our stay at the Bird Baldwin House. We were on the third floor and could have watched the parade from the balcony, buty chose to sit on the steps of the baptist church near Chippewa Square. The house was remarkably convenient to everything. Seems to be set right on the edge of the center of the Historic District and it was an easy walk to the river and all points of interest. We only used the car for a trip to Bonaventure Cemetery - also highly recommended. We were so intrigued with the rich history and the character of all the buildings. We enjoyed a "zombie" tour, carriage ride, visits to the catholic church and jewish temple, and stops at several excellent restaurants - our personal favorite was the Olde Pink House! The highlights of the parade were the Budweiser Clydesdales and so many bagpipe bands - loved those!

Owner response: St. Patrick's Day in Savannah is truly a sight to behold. About 400,000 of our closest friends descend on Savannah and the parade is always a highlight for visitors and locals alike! Stephanie and I are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Bird Baldwin House. The Pink House is a great restaurant and if it is all booked up, try Garibaldi's on Congress Street in City Market. Same owners and a similar menu. The crispy scored flounder is my favorite and if you can handle the heat ask for the Viper Sauce, it is not on the menu. Thanks for mentioning our location. We are exactly two blocks from the center of the Landmark Historic District. Just about every attraction or restaurant is an easy walk from the Bird Baldwin House. If you don't feel like walking there is always the pedicabs. No set rates, they work for tips only! Thanks again and we hope to see you in Savannah again very soon. Safe travels!

This property is my favorite place to stay in Savannah. Our son attended SCAD and we stayed here a number of times and it is always "just right". The location, amenities, and cleanliness keep us coming back. We even held a graduation luncheon for our son on the outside deck one year. We now return each year and it is always wonderful. I recommend this property highly and tell all of my friends who visit Savannah to check it out!

We just returned from a very nice stay at the Bird Baldwin House. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It adds to the charm of Savannah by staying in an older house in the historic district. We were able to walk to many resturants, shopping spots, and enjoy the beautiful parks. We will definitely recommend this house to friends.

We really enjoyed our time at the Bird-Baldwin House last week. The accomodations were exactly as advertised on VRBO and the photos actually minimized the amenities we found. We usually ate breakfast at the condo, with most other meals in the numerous eateries nearby, and found the kitchen setup perfect for our use. The location is ideal for walking around Savannah with several good restaurants, tour guides and the Savannah Visitors Center within a 5 to 10 minute walk. For eating out we liked Mrs. Wilkes for lunch, Goose Feathers for breakfast or lunch, Vinnie van Go Gos for pizza and The Distillery for a pub dinner. I'd recommend a few minutes of web research to sort thru the dozens of options available to eat, tour and sightsee before arrival so you have a starting point - local maps with a quick orientation from a real live person are available at the Visitors Center which is three blocks away. We both read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" before arrival and found it an interesting view of the culture of Savannah - also made the Mercer House tour a lot more interesting. Several other reviews mentioned the noise from the street and while it was noticeable, we never had it interfere with our sleep or enjoyment of the property. We plan to call on Stephanie the next time we are in Savannah. Really enjoyed our time there.

We will be heading for the airport soon and hate to leave this beautiful city. Our stay at the Baldwin House has been delightful. Best bed ever! Street noises a bit annoying but didn't keep me from sleeping in. Gas fireplace in the bedroom was a favorite feature as well. Would stay here again. The back porch facing south was wonderful for the sun on our faces during a lunch at home or just for conversation over a glass of wine. Great location for walking and a space for the car. Excellent food nearby at The Distillery. Good directions from Sarah and very well maintained property.

We had a wonderful week and will return. We have highly recommended it to friends. The weather was wonderful and we walked everywhere. We only moved our car to spend an 80 degree day at Tybee Island. We bypassed some of the tourist restaurants and had great meals at neighborhood restaurants. The condo was very comfortable and we spent late afternoons on the back porch. The only down side was the street noise, but it died down before midnight and didn't start again to 6-6.30. But we were able to get all the sleep we wanted.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the beautiful 1838 condo. It really surpassed our expectations for both spaciousness and location. All of the historic district was accesible by walking. We felt as if we were really at home in this comfortable condo. Sitting by the fire on a cold rainy night with a glass of wine on the comfy couch was perfect. We really enjoyed a lunch on that rainy day at the Old Pink House, probably my favorite restaurant we experienced. The chicken pot pie at Paula Dean's was quite tasty, but the overall experience was not great. The restaurant was crowded and there was NO ambience. We truly enjoyed our visit to Telfair Museum. We have already recommended this condo to friends and would love to visit again. Thanks for such a clean and stylish home for our first visit to Savannah!!!

We stayed at the Bird-Baldwin House for one week over Christmas and our wedding anniversary, so we booked early to ensure we'd have comfortable accommodations for our special getaway in Savannah. We chose this condo based on the photos, the location and the wonderful reviews it received from previous guests, and we were not disappointed! The apartment itself is cozy and well-stocked. Being winter there were a few chilly nights, but the heating system is excellent. We found the bed and the sofa to be very comfortable. The kitchen is small, but contains everything you need to do some cooking. (If you plan to stay long term or spend a lot of time in the kitchen, you may find the kitchen rather cramped but if you plan on eating out a lot then this kitchen is all you need to prepare occasional meals.) The best thing about the Bird-Baldwin House is its location right in the middle of the Historic District. We stayed for a week and didn't use our car once. You can easily walk down to Forsyth Park or up to River St. Some reviewers mentioned that you can hear some traffic noise from East Liberty St, which is true, but it didn't bother us at all, and it gets pretty quiet by 10-11pm. The condo is very easy to find because the Interstate basically drops you off right on Liberty St. The owner, Stephanie, was really friendly and easy to deal with. On our first night one of the windows started vibrating loudly from the wind. Stephanie and her husband, Whip, were quick to take care of it. It's common for vacationers to encounter problems in a vacation rental, so it's a real plus when the owners are approachable and attentive. All in all we would highly recommend this vacation rental because it has everything you need to enjoy a sojourn in the wonderful historic city of Savannah!

My wife and I stayed here for Thanksgiving last week. The location is excellent and the room was wonderful. I had an issue with the internet and Stephanie returned my call immediately and resolved the problem within minutes. If there was one thing negative about the stay, I'd say it would be the traffic late at night. Liberty Street is a bit more busy than we expected. It didn't detract from our enjoyment, however. If we return to Savannah, we know just the right place to stay.

The house is really well located for checking out the beautiful historic district and we realy didnt need our car the whole time we were there.Loved the whole house but the bathroom and bedroom with the lovely working fireplace were our favorite rooms. Savannah is however a walking city <and well well worth the sore feet> but if you are older or not so mobile the three flights of stairs may be a little hard on you after a hard days touring. If you are ok with that though what lies ahead of you after the 28 stairs is well worth the climb and after 20 minutes in the spa bath they are forgotten about. Also a little traffic noise at night from the roads but I am a light sleeper . Enjoyed our stay there very much and will definitely be returning to Savannah

We stayed at the Bird-Baldwin for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The condo was very nicely decorated and although it had all the modern conveniences we needed (wifi, dishwasher, flat screen tvs, huge jacuzzi bathtub, etc.), it still had so much historic charm. The location is a quick 2-3 block walk to the visitor center and the starting point for the trolley tours. There are great coffee and restaurants in close proximity to the house. The free parking space is an added bonus. We just left our car parked and soaked up Savannah and its squares, historic homes, and all of its charm on foot.

The Bird Baldwin condo is the perfect place to stay in the Historic district. We were very impressed with everything about this condo. It was very clean and beautifully decorated, we had everything we needed and appreciated the off street parking. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoyed many of the close shops & restaurants. The owners were super easy and pleasant to deal with and recommended some great places to eat near the condo. We especially liked the Six Pence Pub around the corner as they served dinner past 11 pm. This home is near everything but yet very quiet and relaxing. Nice back deck to enjoy morning coffee and evening cocktails. We look forward to many trips back to Savannah and plan to stay here when we return. Thank you Stepahnie & Whip and WAR EAGLE!

It is clean, comfortable, beautiful, perfectly located, and-best of all-makes it seem that you are indeed experiencing a wonderful "extra" part of historic Savannah rather than just visiting there. This condo was the perfect match for what my wife and I wanted to do on our mini-vacation to Savannah. The location, about two blocks from the visitors center and trolley pickups, could not have been better. On the days we did not take the trolley we simply walked to the different squares that we wanted to see. We even walked back from the river after an evening of sight seeing and dining. The off street parking was also a very nice to have. It was a well lit and we felt safe staying in the condo and in this area. The Auburn Couple

Because our son is a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, we often visit the historic district. This is the first time we have tried VRBO. My wife and I spent a fantastic week and a half in the Bird Baldwin condo on Liberty Street. We truly felt like we discovered a bargain value with the comfortable one-bedroom apartment centrally located in the beautiful historic district. Able to walk everywhere in just minutes, no need to use our rented car with incredible restaurants and amazing historical monuments (literally) everywhere we turned! The well-appointed kitchen made it possible for us to save dining expenses by having intimate dinners at "home." Even though our Savannah visit involved a fair amount of business, we felt like we were on a second honeymoon! We HIGHLY recommend the Bird Baldwin house to any other Savannah visitors and look forward to returning many times in the future!

I will not only recommend this property to others visiting Savannah but will use it again when I return. The condo is clean and modern but retains it's historic feel. Nothing was more satisfying than walking around all day in historic Savannah then returning to our historic room. Close enough to walk anywhere in the historic district but far enough from the main tourist areas to be quiet at night. I also recommend Brighter Day Natural Foods at the south end of Forsyth Park. With a full kitchen at the condo this little grocery is perfect for stocking up in the room.

This was our first-time ever visiting Savannah, and the condo added to the enjoyment of our trip. The rooms are large and furnished nicely, with plenty of storage space. Just lovely. The location is within walking distance of historical sites and homes, squares, restaurants and shopping. The owners have brochures available in the condo of things to do and see, as well as restaurant recommendations. My husband and I recommend highly!

This property exceeded our expectations! It is near enough that you can walk to all of the squares and even to the river. There is no limit to the number of places to eat and the incredible architecture and history Savannah has to offer, all right out your door. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone planning a trip to Savannah. Hopefully we will find our way back one day.

This historic home was perfect! The rooms are large, clean and beautiful; exactly as pictured. Nothing better then sitting on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine. Once you're there, there's no need for a car. The many parks and trees make Savannah an ideal place for walking / biking and everything is close. I took a walking tour with Savannah Dan - awesome! Later in the week, I took a Ghost Tour. Very entertaining and most enlightening. Everyone was so friendly and were more then happy to share their favorite eaterys. The food was to die for!! Am so looking forward to a return visit! Thank you, Stephanie and Whip for sharing your outstanding home!

My wife have traveled extensively and we would rate this condo a 5-Star! It has character, charm, and is very clean. Being in the historic distric we either walked or biked to areas we were interested in. In a return trip to Savannah, we would stay there again. The ease of arranging the rental and the way the owners worked with us was terrific. We loved the city.

We just returned to California from our stay in one of the third floor condos (#5), and I wish we could turn around and go right back. It was everything we expected, and more. The riverfront was a 1 mile walk away, and we seldom drove the car. Walking around the historic district is easy and enjoyable, but taxis are inexpensive and pedicabs are readily available for people who would rather ride. The condo was beautiful, well-furnished, and quiet. We recommend the Soho South Cafe and the Mellow Mushroom for lunch (both a short walk on W. Liberty), Belford's, Churchill's, and the Chart House in the historic district, and the Crab Shack, on the road to Tybee Island. We will plan our next trip to Savannah around the availability of this condo!

Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thank you for the great feedback! You really hit the nail on the head with the pedicabs. They are our favorite way to get around the city (unless we are walking off a big meal!) There is no set amount, the pedicab drivers work for tips!

We recently stayed a week in one of the third floor condos. It was pretty near perfect for us. The condo itself was even nicer than the pictures - beautiful wood floors and lots of nice touches. Clean and very well maintained. The location is close to everything, but far enough away from the night life to be quiet and peaceful. The view from the back porch is the parking area, which was not great, but having offstreet parking in the city was a fair trade off. For a shorter trip to Savannah, you really would not need a car. We did day trips to Tybee, Bonaventure, Fort Pulaski and the Wild Life Preserve - all of which I would recommend, especially Bonaventure. One thing to mention - there is a $250 security deposit with this property, and that really should be disclosed in the pricing information. Also, if you have any issues climbing stairs, I would recommend the lower floors; the 3rd floor was a hike. Overall, I would defenitely recommend this beautiful condo.

Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Owner response: Stephanie and I want to thank you for the 5 star rating. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Bird Baldwin House. You make an excellent point about the off street parking. Parking in the Landmark Historic District is both expensive and a hassle. The vast majority of our guests drive to Savannah so having off street parking was a must! As you noted - it is a fair trade off. Thanks again and we hope to see you very soon back in Savannah!

This condo is wonderful, the location is just right for this walking style city. It is far enough from the night time activities that you can get a good nights rest, but close enough to everything to walk in less than 10 minutes. Very comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed sitting on the back balcony for early morning coffee and late evening relaxing. My wife and I highly recomend !!

This was our first trip to Savannah and the location could not have been more perfect. The condo was very spacious and comfortable. Everything worth seeing is within easy walking distance. We loved all the lovely, shady squares and parks. I would definately recommend taking the very informative trolly tour. You can get on and off all day so you can easily explore the city. The drivers are full of info and stories which brings "Old Savannah" to life. We originally planned to have all our breakfasts and some other meals in the condo, but there were so many good restaurants that we only used the microwave to heat up some leftovers. We really enjoyed the breakfasts at "Goose Feathers" which is very close. My husband's favorive dinner was at "Moon River Brewing Co" which is a local microbrewery. I would definately recommend this property to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

This was our first trip to Savannah. I found the Bird-Baldwin house by searching on line for historic rentals. We love to stay right in the “heart of things” and this home is a perfect match. We stayed in the third floor condo and I can’t think of anything that wasn’t perfect about our 7 night stay. We noticed the first day the air conditioning was not cooling like it should. I sent a message to Stephanie as we were going out for the day and it was fixed before we got back. Wow! Who could ask for any better service than that? I sat on the porch every morning with coffee and wine in the evening. It was a treat to be able to see Pulaski Square right from the porch. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go and only used our car a few times. Having your own parking spot is fantastic. The condo is very well appointed, maintained and super clean. It is just so charming with all the historic details and very comfortable that I was dragging my feet the morning we had to leave!! There is so much to do in Savannah that I am sure we will return. I would stay in the Bird-Baldwin house again. The Triplett’s made sure our stay was perfect and that we were happy with everything from the first day we were there until the moment we were on our way home. If you love historic homes like we do, you will not be disappointed choosing this home as part of your Savannah experience.

I have read the reviews and it does not surprise me that they have all rated this rental as a five star unit. It is fabulous and I can enthusiastically support all the wonderful comments in the other responses. My husband and I had never been to Savannah but we had an opportunity to attend The Masters golf tournament and decided to see Savannah for a few days while we were in Georgia. I got on the VRBO site to check out what was available and was very interested in this particular site. I am so glad we had the opportunity to stay at Bird Baldwin and can't wait to come back. We live about an hour and a half west of Seattle and we are already looking forward to returning to Savannah and staying at Bird Baldwin. We have friends heading to Hilton Head and we have encouraged them to see Savannah and stay at Bird Baldwin.

We had a wonderful time in Savannah. This property was exactly what we needed. Had everything we needed for a weekend stay. We parked the car and never moved it all weekend. The property was in easy walking distance to everything. After a long day I really enjoyed the huge tub and comfy bed. The property was clean well maintained and looked exactly like the pictures. the kitchen is small however, with all the great resturants in Savannah who wants to cook? Stephanie was wonderful and helped with any questions we had. I would absolutlyLOVE to stay here again!!!

Owner response: Kerry, thank you for the great feedback and the 5 stars! You are right, the jacuzzi is huge but a real treat after walking all day. Parking can be a bit of a hassle in the Landmark Historic District so the off street parking is a big plus for many of our guests. Some of our guests plan on cooking meals while here but too many great restaurants often change their plans! Again, thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you back in Savannah very soon.

We had a weekend event at the civic center across the street from the condo. The location was perfect for us. The accomodations were historic and charming, and the off street parking is a plus. The location is also excellent as we could walk down by the river, or through many of the nearby squares. We were very comfortable for our long weekend stay, and would be delighted to stay again. Thank you!
